  1. It doesn't look like pressing will help that corner. I also think about 9.4 seems reasonable. Big gamble.
  2. I think you're right. Didn't notice the water damage.
  3. The photo cuts off the upper right corner. With the defects I can see 8/8.5
  4. I still don't get the hulk grade. Those cb creases on the right middle edge are really on the book or is that some optical illusion from the case?
  5. Tending towards the 7.5 end because of bc smooshed corner. 7/7.5
  6. That top right corner takes into 4/4.5 territory for me. BC is really needed though.
  7. I don't think 5.0 is unreasonable. Of course it all depends if you're asking what CGC would grade it or what the actual grade is.
  8. It's difficult to price restored books. If it's really difficult to find on the market at that grade area then it could be higher. Sometimes you'll get more interest from someone who sees potential to have it professionally restored to a higher grade.
  9. Cleaning used to be done with chemicals that still remain on the cover. Often it takes away a lot of the gloss. In terms of value the seals hurt a lot more than the cleaning. Have you checked for past sales of restored copies? It will lower value considerably. A guess without looking at past sales would be 50%
  10. After horribly undergrading round 2 I thought I would over compensate with a 7.0 and 8.5. I guess that's progress. It's always a conflict between what I think the grade is and what I think CGC would give it. I am learning that I probably have a lot of books that would grade much higher than I would grade them if I were selling them raw.
  11. With the tears and stains I'd give it a 4.5 but since the contest I guess it's really a 6.5. Are you sure those tears on the cover haven't been sealed?
  12. Wow. The 9.6 looks like it could use a press more than the 9.2.
  13. Looks like that 9.6 got pressed into a 9.2. they are the same book right?
  14. You'll notice that they both line up so I wonder if it goes through the entire book.
  15. Looks high grade but can't really give an informed grade without scans at the high end. Some of your pics are also too blurry to see the small defects that mean the difference between a 9.0 and 9.8.
  16. 8.0 I'm more concerned with the upper left front cover and the bc spine discoloration. I'd call it 7.5 raw but I'm learning to up by a grade or two for CGC.
  17. I know CGC doesn't follow overstreet, but I still use it as a guide especially for things like spine splits and detached covers.
  18. With that spine split it is a 3.0 max. The other large tear takes it to 2/2.5.
