What are some of your least favorite covers?
ExNihilo replied to Bludriver's topic in Comics General
See this thread: Worst Comic Covers Ever - Let's See 'Em! - Page 37 - Comics General - CGC Comic Book Collectors Chat Boards (cgccomics.com) (EDIT: whoops, that's an old one with a lot of broken links) -

I just say I didn't want the book anyways. Or at least I tell myself that to feel better. -

Just gonna say I've heard that argument before and leave it at that.

Yeah, but the problem was that voting had already begun and there had to be 100+ votes in while Dylan was on probation (pre-ban). I don't think what Dylan had to say would have made any difference in this scenario, but you never know if it will in a future case.
-
While on the topic of future changes to how voting is performed, I'd like to formally propose adjusting voting to occur after both sides have had adequate time to express their position. Perhaps two posts: 1) Discussion post 2) Voting post. The Defendant will have 3-7 days to post their side of the story and both parties will be given time to either refute each others statements or work out a solution. After 7 days if no solution has occurred, then a vote post will be created. Thoughts? Flaws?

I'm a proponent of the idea that human development occurs as a result of nature and nurture. In this case, it wouldn't shock me to find that Dylan's behavior is partially a result of how he was raised. As a result, I have little faith that his parental figures would view his behavior as out of line as in some small regard, he likely learned it from them. This is me taking the pessimistic view. I don't know Dylan or his father and could be entirely wrong. But I also wouldn't be shocked to find out otherwise.

I get that. The red circle shows an example of a Newton ring. The green circles you made I'm less sure of just because it's hard to tell without actually having the slab in hand. But all I can guess is that it could be scuffing. If it is scuffing, you could always send the book to get reholdered. Though, given the lengthy wait times currently, not sure if it's something I would currently do.

Signings- How does that work?
ExNihilo replied to Mike_1's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
If it's a blue label book, you can technically crack it out of the slab yourself if you're careful and know what you're doing. If it's a yellow label book, you need to submit the entire slab to a CGC authorized witness who will then crack the slab and get it signed for you before submitting to CGC. -
3 months seems excessive. What service did you submit for? Might be time to call them and see where your book is at (assuming it's not one of those services that's currently listed with a 70+ day TAT or CCS pressing).

How to window-bag your books for SS (with photos!)
ExNihilo replied to mschmidt's topic in The Signature Room
Umm...are you lost? I think you're looking for the original art sub-forum. -
My card was charged upon receipt and entry of my books into the system at Sarasota. Back in November, I filled out an online form. The books weren't entered into CGC until December which is when I was charged. Hope that helps.

What do you think of slabbed and unslabbed single comic pages?
ExNihilo replied to Hiro's topic in Comics General
I don't have a problem with unslabbed pages (so long as they're taken from already incomplete or otherwise books that were in really bad shape to begin with. I could see framing it alongside a nice copy of the actual book. The whole argument against slabbed books is that you can't see what's inside them. Well, if you have the page alongside it, now you can see the page that matters. I think slabbing pages is absolutely ridiculous. Why do I need CGC to tell me what condition a piece of paper is in? It's intended as art at that point and looks better in a frame than a CGC slab. -
Jennifer, here's the thread where three boardies mentioned having dirty inner wells. We appreciate the top notch customer service provided by CGC in rectifying these issues, but it seems that these should have been caught at the Quality Control stage.
