  1. If we banned the use of "bro" in the Top City thread, can we ban the use of "stanning" here. God that word drives me crazy. It sounds like a bunch of 13 year old girls trying to sound edgy while going crazy for Justin Beiber. I think @nocutename has acknowledged that she is not responding to any mentions in this thread and the only way to notify her of this consideration is through PM. Lastly, when the probation list thread has more pages than the dollar value that is in question, there most certainly were better alternatives that should have been explored loooooooong before this point.
  2. I just looked at an old form and I see the cheapest Registered Mail rate for 1 book valued $1-$500 is $32. So at least you know you're being charged the correct amount total and not charged for shipping twice. Not sure why they're splitting the cost out like that though, but it does seem to be correct. (Note: that only applies for USPS Registered mail since I was never eligible for FedEx/UPS deliveries.)
  3. I've got a ton of friends in The Great White North. Absolutely love every single one of them. Can't wait for the chance to visit them again when global circumstances allow.
  4. Do we have an update? Both on the "pending" status of the echeck and the replacement book/list?
  5. If you wish to sound like a Quebecois, just add "eh" every so often. If you wish to sound like an Ontarion, pronounce your "ou"s like "o"s. "About" becomes "aboat". For all regions, just apologize for everything, especially when you're the victim. Also, talk about hockey and poutine (oddly, pronounced poo-teen and no poe-teen in Ontario). Remind Americans that any attempts at conquering Canada have always ultimately resulted in disaster. And then apologize for it. Lastly, put a tiny Canadian flag on all your luggage so as to not be confused for an American. Congratulations, you can now speak Canadian.
  6. The buyer seems to have made it pretty clear that they don't intend to pay back Rupp, nor do they appear to show remorse for the way the situation has played out. Time to end this and just put them on the PL (as they so desire).
  7. I have, but the only line that really stands out through the years is "I'll be your Huckleyberry"
  8. At this point, the shipping is a mute point. The more egregious crime is promising to pay for the book and to give it away as a freebie. The seller is short $12 as a result and that needs to be fixed. The $5 shipping difference is such a stupid insignificant amount in the grand scheme of things to be wasting time on. Honestly, should Rupp have given the book away before receiving payment? No. The buyer clearly showed no indication their word was good after backing out of an , so why should they be trusted to pay for something that they won't even receive.
  9. I'm going to start off by saying the buyer is clearly in the wrong here. The seller rules were clearly stated (and bolded). The book was claimed and then reneged. But I also can't help but feel that this could have been cleared up in a variety of ways. I mean, it's $25 total shipped...I can't believe the buyer wouldn't just eat their pride and the costs and chalk this up to a mistake. Lesson learned, move on. But the seller could have also shipped in a protected mailer for about $8. Yes, I get it, the sellers rules were VERY explicit and they shouldn't have to bend over backwards to accommodate a buyer who can't or refuses to read. Especially since the verbiage seems to indicate that it isn't the first time that request has been made and that there likely must have been some other bad experience that forced the seller to ship everything in priority boxes and nothing else. I'm guessing a prior buyer received a book in a mailer that was damaged in shipment and there was a separate set of headaches smoothing that out so the seller just said "no more mailers" and went boxes only. But then just tell nocutename that you're not liable for any damage that occurs in transit. Second point, and with this one I understand that we live by a set of rules or we don't, there's no picking and choosing. That said, it appears there were 3 copies of the book, of which at least one copy is still available. This leads me to believe that the cancellation of the purchase doesn't necessarily financially harm the seller in the same way as if they were selling one copy of a Silver Surfer 3. In the existing scenario, no buyers were deterred or turned away from purchasing the remaining stock. In the example scenario of the Silver Surfer 3, the seller would most definitely take a hit because other potential buyers would have moved on and any other attempt on the sellers part to sell the book would likely be for a lower price than it was a week ago. I guess that's a long winded way of saying that in the current situation, the seller is still "whole". Again, we can't pick and choose and bend rules here and there, otherwise it all falls apart. I get it, the buyer is 100% in the wrong here. I'm just completely baffled that this is all playing out over $12. The amount of time spent by the parties going back and forth on this is worth more than the book at this point.
  10. Now I'm confused. Is an e-check different from a P2P transfer? It's the first time i've heard e-check so I thought we've been talking about app transfers this whole time. My mistake.
  11. This is what I see on the PayPal page. I'm pretty sure it's instant because I've received texts immediately from friends who have sent me money. Still not sure what prompts a "pending" status though as I've never seen that.
  12. Dunno. You mentioned a fee for paying with debit card. I only know my Venmo/PayPal are linked to my checking account and I've never noticed any added fees when transferring funds.
  13. Why would you pay via debit card and incur a fee when you could just pay directly from the linked checking account for no fee?
  14. The lost episodes became season 6 and were released on Netflix. At SDCC 2018, fans were surprised with an announcement at the Clone Wars 10th anniversary panel that the show was returning for a final 7th season on Disney+. The final 12 episodes were released on Disney+ last year with the finale airing on May 4th, 2020.
  15. Makes perfect sense to me. COA's are just sheets of paper and can be reproduced. Or books can be swapped out for fakes. A chain of custody is the only sure fire way to guarantee that the signature you have on hand is authentic. Barring unethical witnesses or human error when it comes to grading in Sarasota, there's not much room to dispute the CGC yellow labels. Frankly, I'd rather keep it that way than introduce doubt by allowing COA's.
  16. For any Star Wars fan, the answer is Clone Wars. Is it perfect? No. The first season or two starts off slow, the main character is annoying, and there are plenty of "filler" episodes throughout it's 7 seasons. But all its perceived early "flaws" are there for a reason: character building. You could skip right to the final four episodes (which is the whole reason for watching the show), but that would deprive you of all the little payoffs that the creators have been building towards. Honestly, it's an amazing show and the finale (when viewed as a movie) would easily rank as one of the top 3 Star Wars films ever made.
  17. My USPS Registered packages from CGC always sit in my city for 3 days. It's infuriating because any time the book is not in my hand or CGC's, i'm always worried that it's getting tossed about like a rag doll on some truck.
  18. That makes sense to me though. I've sent greetings cards to Canada and I always assume it'll take a month to get there. (Average length has been 4 weeks, longest it's taken is 6 weeks). I've never sent domestic mail and not have it delivered in 2-3 days.
  19. Regarding the timing of "echecks" and paper checks, they're all beholden to the same lag. If I go deposit a check at the branch, the full amount doesn't immediately show up in my account. Chase gives me access to $100 and then it takes about 3 business days for the funds to settle. I don't think anything is expedited one method or another.
