  1. With this level of impatience, that customer's gonna have a rough experience with CGC. Even more so if they opted for CCS pressing.
  2. Perhaps I'll have to design a proto-type this weekend.
  3. I remember hearing this as well, but I can't imagine how 10 slabs are going to damage the bottom book. They're not particularly heavy. Also, why can't someone out there design a CGC tower akin to the old CD/DVD towers. I know the labels would be face down in order to read the top of the label, but I feel like it would present very nicely if built with a wood frame design.
  4. Finally, after 2.5 weeks, movement! Tier (also list FastTrack where applicable): Modern S/S FastTrackTAT as of Receipt Date: 3 - 6 weeks per CGC/SWAU marketing emailNumber of books: 1Received CGC: 12/5Verified: TBD Signing Date: 2/20 Scheduled for Grading: 2/27 Grading/Quality Control: 3/17Graded: TBDShipped/Safe: TBDReceived (by owner): TBD
  5. I'm often left to wonder, if THESE are the books you're selling, what in God's name are you buying?
  6. Yes, the clock for turnaround times starts once the package appears as "Received" in the system. Bear in mind, it is shown in Business days (so exclude weekends and holidays). Also, the TAT is an estimate. You might get your books back sooner. You might get them back later. Also, best to exclude the days in transit back to you since USPS Registered Mail can take a week at times to deliver (which is odd since Priority Mail is delivered in two days).
  7. @Habby2324, once again, I have to ask, is it time to just put a sticky at the top of this sub-forum that is updated weekly by a CGC member that informs roughly where the team is with opening packages. This question is submitted all too often of late I'd hope a stickied note would alleviate new members wondering why their package hasn't been shown as received.
  8. Kids these days will rank things similar to an A thru F grading system. Dunno where the "S" designation came from, but it indicates the highest rank of something. Conversely, F is the worst. Not everything fits so neatly into a 7 level grading system, but in my head AC1, Tec27, AF15, X-Men 1 would fall into "S" tier based on their cost and difficulty to acquire (based on supply/demand). "A" tier would be the next set of mega keys that are more easily attainable (by comparison). These would be FF48, IH181, GSX1, TMNT1 and the like. "B" tier would be cheaper still, maybe your ASM300s or something. I dunno, I just thought it would be a simple analogy when determining trade value, but it's clear to me that AC1, Tec27, and AF15 stand head and shoulders above the rest. There's a mythic quality to them. How you define the rest of a tier list is up to each individual, but I think most would agree in terms of value, it's those 3 and then everything else.
  9. The question is, value aside, which brings greater enjoyment? An S tier book (to use the SABCD Tier system)? Or a bunch of A+B tier books? Each person will answer differently, but I don't think I could possibly trade my 10 most valuable books for an AF15 because those 10 books bring me joy as well.
  10. It should have been on the CGC printed form along with your packing slip.
  11. I received a shipment of wine and they asked if I was "<insert name>" and used that as recognition of receipt. Seemed the better alternative to signing instead of just leaving the package and disregarding the customer request for signature.

  13. Easy, I just don't sell my keys. The ones that bug me are the books I bought with my eyes and not my heart. That is, impulse buys that seemed like a good idea, but weren't really part of my long term collecting goals.
  14. Are you just randomly perusing 1.5 year old threads?
  15. A Qualified 4.5 sold on eBay for $2099 (and $2299 before that). Recent sales of blue label have been $2475, $2900, $3751, $3300.
  16. I doubt it. Spider-Man is THE face of Marvel and thus there is a greater demand for AF15 than there is FF1. And the first rule of economics is about scarcity, supply, and demand.
  17. I'm still baffled by the absurdity of values of non-1st print books. To me, their valuation lies purely in the print numbers and not having to do with any key events in the book. As a collector, do I value what happens in the story or do I value print numbers. (that's a rhetorical question, I obviously care more about a true 1st appearance.) Am I supposed to start hoarding facsimile editions here? I think what we're seeing is the price of true 1st print/1st appearance keys getting out of peoples price ranges and as a result any ancillary book is getting picked up. I've seen it happen with IH180 (though I argue there's value in a cameo appearance), FF49, and now 2nd prints, etc.
  18. That falls apart when you get to the 1:25, 1:50. ie, if you order 50, those 1 in 11's suddenly become 5 in 58. So best to just stick with "for".
  19. I don't understand the enormous bids on these signed lithographs. Is it just because his signature is so rare?
  20. These are all horrifying. The more Collette Turner covers I see, the more I want one.
  21. For your health or your financial well being?
  22. There's a WTB sub-forum for such requests. Comics Market - Want To Buy! - CGC Comic Book Collectors Chat Boards (cgccomics.com) Oh, and also this section of the boards as well (which more specifically deals with original art. 23. I'm guessing it's the same roving exhibit that goes from museum to museum. I went to one in Edmonton and the OA blew my mind. (I just checked my phone and I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of it).
  24. Just my two cents here, but there is little value in submitting such a book for grading. It sounds like the book has personal value to you but I would honestly save the money and spend it elsewhere.
  25. How is it that my modern book was Scheduled for Grading on the 27th and is still sitting there but yours went through from the 8th already.
