  1. I love Joelle Jones' heavy ink lines. It really makes the primary subject in her pieces pop out. That and the colorists that usually work with her make her pieces so bright and sharp. I subbed to her Catwoman run for as long as Artgerm was doing the covers and then I dropped it. Truthfully, she's a great unique artist, but she's not a good writer. I had no idea where that Catwoman run ended up going, but it wasn't captivating.
  2. How do you feel about the the overall value of these boxes? I stopped buying his stuff about a year ago because the sets just started to get pricey. $20 for cover A's and $60+ for cover C's became a bit much. But I did think maybe I could buy a box every two years in the hope that they'd be full of more recent stuff that I may have passed on. My biggest issue are the signed books. I much prefer my signed books CGC graded in a yellow label, so having raw books like that would probably kick in my OCD. Your haul looks pretty good though. All Marvel/DC (another worry of mine is getting indy publishers which I don't collect much of).
  3. If we're going off metals I think the metals in decreasing value post Copper should be... Chromium Age (this would refer to books in the 90s to early 2000s and would be somewhat apt given that some books had "chromium" foil covers. Overall, it would refer to the period of comics with gimmicky covers that was prevalent in the 90s). Aluminum Age (mid-2000s to 2020s(???)) Digital Age (20xx - ) Personally, I'd like to avoid using "Modern Age" unless you want to go through the exercise of re-naming ages again down the road. I think using "Digital Age" allows a natural move away from precious and base metals. So what happens after Digital Age? I guess it depends on what happens to the marketplace. With the existing ages, there's at least some sort of industry shift so it would make sense to wait and see what future shifts occur to delineate changes in ages.
  4. Ok... Thank you for being here to repost the obvious for us newbies. Not sure what we'd do without you. Don't let post count fool you, your account is older than his by 3 weeks, so he's more of a newbie than you are.
  5. Given that books are generally signed by the writer, artist, inker, colorist, creator, there are only a handful of signatures that could likely be. The most obvious contenders are Scott Lobdell, Brett Booth, and Norm Rapmund. The giant "S" would lean towards Scott. Comparing against his known signature on Google, that is Scott's autograph on that book (short of it being forged).
  6. Step 1: You'll need to get a creator form from CGC. Step 2: Fill out a standard form online at CGCcomics.com for the sketch artist. Step 3: Send the sketch cover, the creator form, and the standard form to the artist. Step 4: The artist will do the sketch, fill out the creator form, and they'll send the book and paperwork directly to CGC. Emphasis on the creator sends the sketch directly to CGC in order to maintain the chain of authentication.
  7. On the plus side, I can probably pre-emptively block the user from any future sales threads.
  8. are we just claiming books from @ivdyer's collection to start off 2021? In that case, I'd like to claim the Michael Turner remarked book.
  9. Thankfully X-Wings don't have the same physical limitations of jet fighters. In other words, no one has to ask why random X-Wings are fueled up and whether they can fly several thousand miles. Now if TIE Fighter squadrons start jumping into hyperspace, i'm gonna be a little concerned...
  10. God, waiting a whole year is gonna be agony. Is the Boba Fett show a spinoff or is that the arc for season 3?
  11. That jpeg link didn't work for me, but I assume you're referring to the Artgerm cover? He's got some great covers, but I do like that one in particular. I especially love all the bat/cat/wedding iconography that is sprinkled throughout.
  12. Turnaround times are estimates, not accurate counts. Once your book is subbed, it becomes a waiting game. You just gotta be patient.
  13. I'm young and naive, but I'm going with Kirby, Joe Kubert, Jim Lee, and I'll leave the 4th to you guys. I imagine Kubert is a curious addition, but I think there have been so many well known artists who have gone through the art school. It's like looking at a modern day (American) football coaching tree and seeing that everything goes back to the great Bill Walsh.
  14. If I recall correctly, same box, but you'll have to fill out different forms for each type of submission. And you'll have to pay return shipping for each type as well. Let's say you sent 6 books for the following submissions: 2 modern 2 modern with CCS 2 modern for private signing I believe that counts as 3 different submission types and will require 3 separate forms with 3 separate form fees and 3 separate return shipping fees. It's one of the annoying aspects of dealing with CGC (they won't hold books to save you a few bucks).
  15. There's something so sincere about Patty Jenkins reveal announcement that alone gets me hyped. And now I wish she could direct Captain Marvel.
  16. Ron Lim Silver Surfer. I mean, take your pick from his run, there's no wrong answer. Michael Turner Supergirl. I get that his style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love the big eyes and heavy eye shadow on his female figures. His run on Superman and then Batman/Superman was my first introduction to him and thus why I'm most drawn to his Supergirl. Josh Middleton's Batman #50 variant with Catwoman on the cover is an absolute stunner. The detail of the eyes is just so striking. And the way the color pops in an otherwise white/black cover blew my mind the first time I got a copy in my hands. I love love LOVE this cover.
  17. Read the sales rules and then post in the correct sub-forum. GLWTS. Comics Market - Forum Only Selling Area - CGC Comic Book Collectors Chat Boards (cgccomics.com)
  18. He pretty much answered his own question. Mask of the Phantasm would be the first comic appearance. Batman/Catwoman #1 is the 1st in continuity. It's the same as how 1st Harley Quinn is Batman Adventures #12 and 1st in continuity is Batman: Harley Quinn.
  19. Both? Who's signatures are you sending in for? If you're having an artist commissioned sketch piece, you'll need to get a creator form from CGC. Fill out the online form for the private CGC signings. Then fill out a standard form for the sketch artist. Send the sketch cover, the creator form, the private signing form, and the standard form to the artist. The artist will do the sketch, fill out the creator form, and they'll send all the paperwork directly to CGC. Emphasis on the creator sends the sketch directly to CGC in order to maintain the chain of authentication. This is as far as I've gotten with the process as my book is currently with CGC waiting for the private signing. It's been awhile, but I think CGC will charge your account at the time of signing.
  20. If you're looking for a particular book, then you'll want to post in this section of the boards: Comics Market - Want To Buy! - CGC Comic Book Collectors Chat Boards (cgccomics.com)
