  1. The further you go into the 12 cent era, the less meaning there is to a pedigree designation.
  2. Amazing accomplishment! Have you had the chance to read them all or is there a backlog?
  3. I think they are mostly using this with books out of slab. They clean, press, and lighten and then submit or re-submit.
  4. Your membership has been renewed for another year.
  5. man fighting gorilla to woman fighting giant gorilla
  6. A gorgeous room setup for his collection.
  7. Now you know why the Lone Ranger used silver bullets...
  8. Tell me you're a boomer without telling me you're a boomer...
  9. The sadder fact is that there were just enough well-heeled SA collectors who wanted DC to block my progress.
  10. The Church collection was sold in several large chunks that contained complete runs of many titles.
  11. Welcome to the DC 50s club I still remember when you posted on the Boards "I'm done with Atlas. Is there anything in DC worth reading?"

  14. He posted on a variety of items in his collection, the majority of which were comic-adjacent rather than actual comics.
  15. It was a very special collection, but access was only possible when Richard was around, and even then only tb and I were invited over. Note: I am not in any way involved in the future of the collection, just have enough background to provide advice that it is neither helpful nor worthwhile for anyone to reach out to the family.
  16. Lovely cover that looks like all Whitman to me.
  17. Great background on Bailey. I am a big of fan of both his Golden Age and Atomic Age art. He gets my vote for preeminent horror cover artist, even over those dudes from EC. His romance art is a bit of a mixed bag for me, as I think his line drawn covers are inked in a style that is perfect for PCH but "harsh" for romance. What I was completely unaware of prior to your post, was his work on these magazines for kids. Eschewing inked outlines and simplifying his style to allow for the color design to carry more weight made his work initially unrecognizable. I wish he would have developed more material in this style as it would have worked wonderfully for romance, teen, humor, and funny animal genres.
