  1. Wow! Great pickups! I love the last Diary Secrets cover. That's a killer logo too! What # is that?
  2. Thanks guys! And tack on 1 more for a whopping $8.88 shipped from ebay in (estimated) FN: Frisky Animals #46
  3. My latest purchase, from Heritage's latest auction: Shocking Mystery Cases #53
  4. I sure will.. I'd be happy to sell it to you... I have my eye on a nice VF- copy. if I can talk the seller down to a reasonable asking price this one is yours. (thumbs u Just PM or email me. I'm always on the hunt - just lookit my sig!
  5. Awesome books! Christmas covers are great but when you throw in a little Cole you definitely get winners! Hey - I got these books in... and I didn't realize this, but notice the GIANT in the title? Notice it's $.25 and not $.10? This book is HUGE!!! I didn't realize that. This just became a much harder to get in high grade book! I'm happy I paid a tad more for a nice copy.
  6. Great books man! When you upgrade, PM me! I have that story because its in that EXOTIC 3D BEAUTIES reprint but that's a poor substitute for that cover!
  7. Great copies, all around! That TAILSPIN is an underrated cover. That bright canary yellow is beautiful in person. Gotta track down a SHIP'S AHOY copy one of these days...
  8. Thanks man! FYI, to anyone looking for one, this copy of CRIMINALS ON THE RUN V4 #7 is on ebay right now:
  9. Decided to pull the trigger on 2 killer LB Cole covers that are kinda out of season: Frisky Animals 52 - This one has LB Cole pinups on the inside and back covers too! Fun Comics 9
  10. Thanks! I just noticed that FUN COMICS# 12 was missing. 1 more ADDITION!!! And with this I think I'm up to 411 covers. I'll try to run another report with all my recent edits soon. Thanks again for all the help!
  11. Just so that I don't get too far off track of the thread with my "project" I just picked up these 2:
  12. Yep, this will have to be added as well. I've looked for these in my DB a bunch of times but haven't seen them. There's 5 more ADDS!!!!! I'll try to see if I can do another manual count today, as I won't have access to a PC all weekend.
  13. Bart, I was wondering, is that cover credited to Cole anywhere? I know he did a bunch of paperback covers but the ones I've see have his sig. Just curious as to how you dug that one up. Thanks!
  14. Well, shows you what I know. Four Favorites #13 it is then! I can't get past how different it looks from his other stuff though, regardless of what Gerber says. The faces look nothing like Cole's, and the composition is awkward. Even the signature looks wonky. Maybe a different artist penciled it and Cole inked it? That's a decent guess. But I'll count it! excelsior1986 - Thanks for the info. I'll remove the Super Mystery, but add in the notes to my DB on his interior work. That will come in handy! And, UPDATE: 1) Four Favorites #13 2/1944 2) Terrific Comics #3 5/1944 3) Power Comics #1 6/1944 3) Suspense Comics #4 6/1944 4) Contact Comics #1 7/1944 5) Power Comics #3 8/1944 6) Suspense Comics #5 9/1944 6) Catman Comics #25 9/1944 6) Contact Comics #2 9/1944 6) Power Comics #4 9/1944
  15. You got it! ADDED!!! I found a bigger scan and updated my post above for all to see. His sig looks a bit different, so even if it was published 2nd, it's possible it was drawn earlier. So here's the publication listing: 1) Super Mystery #19 1/1944 2) Four Favorites #13 2/1944 3) Terrific Comics #3 5/1944 4) Power Comics #1 6/1944 5) Suspense Comics #4 6/1944 5) Contact Comics #1 7/1944 6) Power Comics #3 8/1944 7) Suspense Comics #5 9/1944 7) Catman Comics #25 9/1944 7) Contact Comics #2 9/1944 7) Power Comics #4 9/1944 Bart - do you have any info on the Super Mystery???
  16. I've never seen that one before - does anyone have confirmation on this that it's his? If this is his, it's in the running as #2 of the earliest published cover by the dates I have. If it's not, I have these as the oldest in order by publication date: 1) Super Mystery #19 1/1944 2) Terrific Comics #3 5/1944 3) Power Comics #1 6/1944 3) Suspense Comics #4 6/1944 4) Contact Comics #1 7/1944 5) Power Comics #3 8/1944 6) Suspense Comics #5 9/1944 6) Catman Comics #25 9/1944 6) Contact Comics #2 9/1944 6) Power Comics #4 9/1944
  17. No problem Adam! Here's the last page of that one: It's from an auction listing that ended not too long ago. Thank the seller!
  18. Is that really a Cole cover? IMO the faces and linework look quite different from his style. The eyes certainly do. This is Cole's 2pg spread from the issue prior:
  19. D ick Tracy = +1!!! I'm not certain on adding paperback covers, what do you guys think? I can attempt to keep a separate paperback list too.
  20. DUDE! Where has THAT cover been hiding? I knew he did a killer story in the issue before it but I wasn't aware of that cover. ADDED!
  21. TOTAL UPDATE: I had 387. Add in the 12 I just added plus the BOLD #2, Red Fox #15, and Wit & Wisdom #1 and we're up to 402!!!!
  22. Thanks for the info guys! On the following: All-Famous Crime 8, 9, 10, 4, 5 - ADDED! Ship Ahoy 1 - ADDED! Gasoline Alley 2 - ADDED! Western Crime Cases 9 - ADDED! All the Classics Illustrated issues - ADDED! On this one: A1 Comics #108 (Red Fox #15) - is that his cover or just interiors? I'm only asking because this is a "covers only" list. Maybe afterwards I'll work on and interiors list. Bold Comics #2 - I didn't see this one in my DB, and haven't found anything on it yet. I'll add it to my list of issue to add to the DB. Another one I'm considering on adding is WIT & WISDOM #1. It's not a comic but is in a similar vein. Now these below: Weird Jungle Tales 202 Shocking Detective Cases 201 Flaming Romances 4 Gasoline Alley 3 Ship Ahoy 2 ...are tricky. If I'm remembering correctly these covers were all created but never used. So they really aren't collectible but do exist, correct? I'll keep this for reference, but as more of an addendum to the main list but not part of it. Sound good? As far as the AP reprints, I can understand with some of the covers (POPULAR TEEN-AGERS #6 with the god-awful pink cover comes to mind). But some, like the POPULAR TEEN-AGERS #5 is dead on and looks great! In my opinion it goes on an issue by issue case.
  23. Thanks. I guess the only copies that ARE reprints on the list are the Accepted Publication reprints. Honestly, I'm not sure if they should be counted as entirely different issues or not but either way there aren't THAT many of them. Do you (or anyone) consider the AP reprints of lesser value then the Star copies? I have some that look exactly the same, but then there are some that have different colors and different image quality on the cover.
  24. Yes! That does help a lot. I was able to find each and every one of those issues. In some cases (mostly with the CI Jr.'s) there are multiple reprints but I'm putting L.B. Cole's name on all of them just to be complete. With those additional books that makes 387 covers so far (not including reprints) and counting!
