  1. Those made me wonder when belts on swimsuits went out of style.... anyway, back to it...
  2. I don't think #11 is a classic but it should be! And I always loved the title of #14, "My Love was Auctioned!"
  3. #7 # 8 were a pain to locate as well. I didn't realize until now how long it took to find some of these issues, but after that it got easier. Not graded (yet) the #10 looks pretty nice.
  4. Then the run starts over, at #3.... um, OK! The first 2 here hardly show up, but I got a #3 with awesome colors. If you see a #4 somewhere just buy it and ask questions later. Then we have the logo change. Too bad they didn't stick with the flamed part, it was pretty cool. There's a cover proof out there of that same cover to #5 with a different title that had "Flaming" in it but it was never made. That is likely why it exists and only lasted in the printed version for the 1 issue. Cole did love his moons and sunsets!
  5. I'll keep the TTLR party going! Here are the first 2 in the run, even though they are #'s 8 & 9. Both aren't that easy to find, especially in decent shape. I had to settle for the stamped #9.
  6. Thanks! Wow, the reds on your really stand out. Mine isn't as faded as the scan shows but not THAT red. It's better on my #20, you can tell a bit. The maroon on the #17 is very deep, as you can kinda tell from the finger smudge. Yea, getting decent copies whenever they pop up is a decent plan. It's just a matter of keeping your eyes open. Good luck!
  7. Wanted to share but not cross-post everything, so I put up my run of Popular Teen-Agers in the Cole thread:
  8. Since it's a topic, looks like there's an AMS #3 up for grabs. Good luck all:
  9. And now down to the finish! Th last one was purchased already slabbed too. We often see a date stamp, but I've got a TIME as well! HA! That's it for now! Maybe True-to-Life Romances next.....
  10. Now on to the less-loved but often harder to find, at least in decent shape. Some of these I've had for 20 years when I was just happy to have any Cole cover so there's a rusty staple or some other defects here and there that I'd now pass on, but I still love these covers. The #16 is nicer than I recalled.
  11. Ok, now on the the classics of this title. Some have no-so-good pages or a chip here and there but they are mine. The #10 is pretty nice for a black cover. #12 is really tough in any grade, jump on a copy if you see one available. #14 may have a rainbow, but the colors on #13 are killer. Note: There is a reprint of #14 called "My Secret Marriage" that I have a copy of as well, but it's not as cool as this version. I'll follow up on that.
  12. So, I've been scanning my books lately now that my PC is back up and running so I thought I'd share some pics. Valentine's Day is coming so why not post some romance covers? Here's a run... Here we have the early logo issues and the 1-off logo on #9. I know the #5 is the AP version, but it's a sharp copy, many have the girl's feet cut off entirely at the bottom. #6 is my least favorite but I didn't want the pink reprint version so I eventually settled for this copy. #8 was the one that finished the run for me. Being in New England you'd think I'd be able to score a lobster cover no problem but it took a while.
  13. Another auction, another #1. It will be interesting to see what this restored copy goes for.
  14. Nice haul! I have always LOVED this Syd Shores cover! The Subby triangle head never ceases to make me smile!
  15. I just caught this article on BC: https://bleedingcool.com/comics/highest-graded-cgc-9-8-contact-comics-11-l-b-cole-cover-at-auction/ It had some cool info about Aviation Press and referenced an old article about some general comic book history. Here is the article for reference: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/85852965/the-idaho-statesman/
  16. Oh, I know - I have nearly all of them. No, Cole is not Matt Baker. He does have his own distinctive style and it isn't for everyone, I just happen to dig it. Some of the appeal is in the colors or the layouts or the content of the covers and not in the realism. But to each their own! Like most artists he appears to have had different styles over time and changed his approach often. His paintings of pulp covers don't look anything like these two, for example. The above covers also don't pop up every day so I wanted to point them out as they didn't pop up in a search of his name and I didn't want them to get overlooked. Happy bidding all!
  17. Searching for this has been fun. Ok, I just found this one for you - every Psylocke costume on one cover! A variant to Hellions #13:
  18. I'll nominate this one, if we're just going for cool covers. Also - here's a list someone came up with, some of which have been been mentioned already: https://comicbookinvest.com/2022/02/09/cover-tunes-194/
  19. Speaking of LB Cole, I was just going through the CL listings and found this one that doesn't come up in an LB Cole search. It's a fairly HTF Star romance book:
  20. I'm not sure! I bought this one graded and never cracked it. I just looked all over the web and couldn't find specifics, just that he is credited in it. If you dig it out let us know here or on the Cole thread!
  21. Thanks, and thanks! Just added it to my next order.
  22. One of these had been graded, just got the others back. Not a bad set!
