Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
pmpknface replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Yea, that's what I meant - thanks! I did hear a few good things about it but didn't know about any option. Thanks for the info. -
I often wondered about the power meter. I recall that it was there in the earlier issues and I stopped reading around #115 but after a while it just disappeared. Did it ever come back or did they do anything with it? I loved that aspect of the character and was always hoping it would be addressed. Also, I was wondering if after you sold off your collection did you keep / purchase under copies or have the run in HC / TPB format just to have? Maybe it's in your 1st post, I forget but thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
pmpknface replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I was going through old stuff yesterday and came across my copy of Faith #1, standard cover and wondered if it was worth anything yet. According to ebay, it's not. Back in the box it went. I did find a few gems though. Found an Ice Cream #1 variant, is there a movie or anything or it this book just popular? Also found a copy of Dead Rabbit #1 that apparently had a low print run for some reason. Anyone have any details? -
I'll pound you to a "Pulp" if you don't show off yours!

Ok, that ghost thing pouring the champagne is awesome. What is he doing, trying to get her in the mood? But the winner of this bunch is the robot reading the catalogs! What is he looking for? Spare parts? How did he get them delivered to the moon, or a moon? Does Sears deliver there too? And what is he digging? It looks like he's on a break, who does he work for? SOOOO many questions!?!?! LOVE IT!!! -
Ok... WOW. First off - thanks to @lou_fine & @Professor K for the info! Now: That's a big upgrade! I'm looking at these copies now and I can see how Power 3 could be upgraded, especially with a C&P. One thing stands out though... Looking at the grader's notes I saw there mentioned a few cover chips and the 2nd grading doesn't, and I thought that was odd. On the HA listing here's a pic of what I think the chip is: Here's the CL book, same spot... I don't know... either this was some form of resto or these aren't the same books. At this point I'm thinking there are 2 Crowley copies or one of them isn't one. If there's one thing I can count on it's CGC finding color touch / resto so I can't believe that this was just passed over if that's what it was. I don't know much about the Crowley Ped's to know if there are any multiple copies, a certificate, or how they discern the provenance of a pedigree book (I've never owned any ped) to get that on the label. That said, it's at $3,200 with 9+ days to go. Thoughts???

Well that didn't take long.... While not a Mask book, these (and others) came out of the gate swinging! Really interested in seeing what these 2 do as well:

I'm an LB Cole guy, can't help it. I like the Everett pick though!

These are cool. I have some, but not all of them. I know I have that one on the top right, it looks amazing in person. -
Funny, here were mine: Startling Comics #40 - 3.5 Strange Confessions #1 - 5.5 Fantastic Four #50 - 7.0 Batman #210 - 5.0 Captain Marvel #31 - 9.4 2 points too. I was a tad bit more forgiving after last round. If not for a few bad calls on my part in round 1 I would have had a better shot. I did ok though! Thanks again Mike!

When You Are Given a Captain America 1

Whaaaaat?!?! -
I don't know what a C&P would do to mold or how much that downgrades it if you went that way. Maybe a 5.0?

I agree, 4.0. -

I think I have a #1 of that somewhere... -
Well, looks like a 10 for me. I was way under on the Showcase but that book looked rife with defects, I never would have guessed a 4.5. Congrats to anyone that got a 5 or under on this set! Did anyone see what looks like a smudge on the ASM above the Spidey face / UPC area? I know it wasn't mentioned in the defects that Mike was kind enough to mention but it looked like something. I had it as an 8.5, so not too far off. Off to the next round! Happy guessing!
