  1. This just isn't true... I started collecting about 18 months ago and not one member has given me this impression (and I've had plenty of disagreements along the way). What you're actually experiencing is being hammered by a plethora of experienced individuals. I'm a relative rookie and even I know not to do what you've been doing. You're being taught manners of the hobby - not being pushed away or excluded by/from some "old boys club". Take the collective advice about reading before posting. That's why you've come to this incorrect conclusion. You're getting an overwhelming amount of criticism because you're acting prior to thinking.
  2. Looks like I have more reading to do...
  3. Le sigh. Glad things were all sorted out correctly, but this is really bothersome.
  4. Part 1 (328 Pages) Part 2 (14 Pages) And, yes, I have read every single page (over a few days). It was truly entertaining/sad.
  5. They're 60-page books, with a flat spine, glued like TPBs. I imagine they have to have thicker cover stock. There are only about 250 of Book #1 graded, for example. Thanks for your input. My OCD is just getting the better of me right now . This is the very definition of a 1st World Problem.
  6. There are a few reasons I'm considering buying this lot (I know your post was mostly in jest): The 5 9.9s are the only Mint books on the Census for their issues. It's a limited series that I love. One of the covers is at the top of my list for cover art. The price is very reasonable (with Best Offer available). I've only bought SS books, because other than pre-Modern, I don't see the point in owning NM books. They're just common. The unique situation of these books really call to me. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on these regardless. I'm just hoping I can find a way to get a 9.9 out of the one book that isn't graded as such. It will likely be an uphill battle, but I figured I'd ask around here to see if it's been accomplished before.
  7. Take your hashtag crusade to Twitter. It doesn't do anything around here. There's already a thread for "your collection this week" where this post should've been added. It's also a bad idea to brag about "making a dealer look stupid" when, on this board, great buys can be made by dealers. You're buying spec books at the pinnacle of their hype. Patience is a virtue and you're not using it. You're just digging a hole that doesn't need to be dug. You're not buying stuff that won't be seen on the market anytime soon. If you have limited resources then you need to weight the cost of opportunity. You and Swami just ignore the suggestions of the experienced here, though, so this information will likely fall on deaf ears.
  8. Educated guess: Everyone. You're not making any friends with the way you post and your poor intentions of comic book ownership.
  9. Why don't you invest in stocks rather than comic books..? You have no idea what you're doing. Go read Gabe's journal before you have your own epiphany. There's history to learn from. Swami and Hollywood are in for a rude awakening when they can't resell their books and don't care to keep them. That's why you buy the book and not the label (or the hype). If I can't resell my books, then I'll be perfectly happy keeping them.
  10. Darth Vader Honorable Mentions: The Joker (all universes other than Jared Leto's) Darkseid Galactus MCU Thanos
  11. Christian Bale is a certified psychopath and I doubt anyone stopped watching or started disliking TDK trilogy because of that.
  12. I would be wary of purchasing collectibles from this seller: host6033 I won an auction for the full run of Spawn Origins Hardcovers. 8 of which are First Editions. He sent a message saying, "I've packed them to the best of my ability to preserve their condition". Lo and behold, when I receive the box, he put literally no packing materials in the package. The box was probably twice the size of all 10 books combined. So, as you can imagine, all corners were dented and all covers are scuffed. Now, Spawn Hardcovers aren't as high-value as the majority of CGC and vintage books, but Books 1 and 3 can be expensive to replace. Book 1 was basically completely destroyed. I told him that comic book properties should be taken care of as if they're all very valuable. After a couple of days of communicating, he did refund the shipping cost and 35% of the auction. I really didn't want to leave anything better than neutral feedback, but I feel like the auction price + refund made me whole. I left him positive feedback because of this. I would just be very cautious about purchasing anything you may consider valuable from this guy.

  14. TBH, I was really interested in owning some of the pure silver replica covers for awhile. It'd be nice to have reproductions of the original Action 1, Detective 27, etc cover art (reprints have never used the exact same cover). They're just too expensive for what you get, though. I ditched my want for those and I'm glad that I didn't buy any.
  15. Lol I have 0. I've kinda ventured off into the Absolute/Omni/TPB game. You get so much reading material for your money. Right now those are my main focus.
  16. I just don't understand the "towering over Superman" comment(s). That's kinda why Snyder wanted Affleck as Batman. He wanted somebody to look imposing lol. I still don't like the idea of Hammer as Wayne. But, some people didn't think Affleck could pull it off. I was one of the few that could see it, though. Just let Hammer be Hal Jordan already.
  17. It seems like this is the correct response to 75% of the topics created under this sub-forum...
