  1. stopped reading here Yeah I'd love to know where this 2k is coming from?
  2. The Fang costume came from Wolverine ripping it out of Fang after the yellow costume was blasted out or destroyed by Fang in 107. Yeah it first appeared in IM15 without any mention of it unless I'm mistaken. It only appears in 4 issues. It's in the beginning of 109 a little bit before the yellow just randomly comes back. You're right, Byrne picks it up where Cockrum left off. It looked awful! Fortunately Byrne got rid of it as it may of destroyed the character. It almost looked like a poor man's black panther. So upon googling some information on the calendar each month featured artwork from one or two specific artists. December was John Byrne's. That would make sense for that spidey xmen panel but I don't know why they have the cover of "What if" #1 there? I don't think that was Byrne. The panel for the 29th is from MTU #1 and that's Andru. So its not all Byrne. I don't think that xmen panel appears anywhere other than this calendar. I was thinking maybe a Christmas themed marvel treasury but they predate the Fang costume. Maybe its buried on an ad page in some obscure book?
  3. Sure, a short term pullback is not out of the question. Would we see a reversal back to 2k for 9.8? Jeez I think that's kind of far fetched. I feel there's more upside risk overall in the short to medium term than down side. The upswing started well after the strict lockdowns in the spring so I don't know that people being cooked up indoors having nowhere to spend was a main driver? No way of knowing for sure. Maybe was a combo of FOMO, movie related excitement, stock market trepidation. Who knows. I'm taking yes for an answer on Venom.
  4. According to GPA the closest grade with a Jewelers insert is 7.5. It sold last June for 789. Back in June blue label 7.5 were sold a few times and averaged roughly around 745. Its higher now. The next Mark Jewelers is 6.5 also last June and was actually sold at a lower price than blue labels. Hope that helps. They're sold very infrequently so that's probably why cgc doesn't bother breaking them out in the census. Was M Jewelers even notated way back when cgc started?
  5. Here's a screenshot of the current chart for 9.8 down there ⬇️. The charts for the next two grades look almost identical in relation to their prior values. Its never had a sustained down trend in the top 4 grades at least so make of it what you will. I just speculate 9.8 hangs around ~4 to 5k for a little while. Supposedly mid January is when the first real trailer gets released so I don't know maybe if that happens we test 5k again for a while? It depends on whether they can keep the June release date which seems up in the air at the moment. I think a Batman film was recently pushed back to October 2021. Kevin Feige keeps talking positively about a spider-man crossover "at some point". I think if that ever happens all bets are off! Imo this book has staying power. Its value increases will mostly hold despite occasional bumps. As for the ceiling? I would only guesstimate 7.5k for 9.8 blue label after 3 movies without spider-man. That's just a speculative guess. Don't hold me to it. I'd rather have Valiant's views however! I think he's stated he's too personally biased to offer an objective view but I'd still wish he'd give it a shot.
  6. "Bleeding up" means a very slow increase. Just a figure of speech. The faster we can get to the point where movie theaters can get back to normal the better the prospects for a bigger value increase. The question is if things really start to drag on into 2022 without reaching that level of vaccinations does Sony decide to go straight to DVD? How does that impact our favorite book??? That's the real question. Edit: I'm assuming Sony would be able to go straight to DVD which I'm not sure they can? Perhaps someone is better informed on that.
  7. ⬆️ yes. And God bless the MCU! God bless Sony! 🙏🤟
  8. The millennial monster cometh!!! 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️
  9. Maybe but not nearly enough to make a dent. Its already woefully below expectations. But anyway as much as things have cratered and we've still seen a crazy run up in a number of certified books. I mean 300 is hardly the only ASM or major title key seeing a run up. Even 316 is catching some of it. This year has been so destabilizing while having a counterintuitive increase in several keys it makes it tough to read the future. Whatever the reason is be it people getting spooked by stocks earlier in the year or whatever its great news for collectibles. My intuition is 300 will continue bleeding up in the immediate future. I'd be interested what's going to happen when we start getting trailers of venom 2! The problem with that is when the hell would movie theaters get back to full capacity??? Does Sony decide to sit and wait? Time will tell.
  10. It be great if they could apply some colorizing technology to this. I agree with the post above about it being pre 1970.
  11. Are you collecting raw copies primarily or both? I don't think I've seen you post too many slabs?
  12. Hmmnn I think I'd have to question the QES designation on that particular copy. The idea is not totally without merit considering the wiggle room in grading from CGC. It doesn't seem like the sticker had much impact on the final hammer price however so maybe people were dismissing it this case. 47.5k is solid but not pushing the envelope for a 9.8. That being said its still beautiful and I'd take in a heartbeat.
  13. I usually post these SS books in the silver/bronze spidey threads. I'll add these here . The 49 is new.
  14. He can do one of his "this week in collection" posts 1 book at a time.
  15. Lovely! Dont mind me, just checking if I can see my own images ....Carry on
  16. I had a copy of this for a while. I noticed a subtle difference between it and the original is the webbing under spidey's arms is a little darker more noticable in the original. You got a nice wrap on that!
  17. The update they're doing to the website is preventing me and others from seeing images. Hopefully it gets fixed. I see them in your original post but not in the second one I quoted. Appreciate it though!👍
  18. Anyone else able to see certain images but not others???
  19. I can't see any of the images you posted but I gather it's some great stuff! And happy birthday!!! Jeepers what the hell is going on
  20. Incase anyone's interested there's some high grade SA Daredevils now on Heritage with low bids ending Sunday.
  21. No because cgc refuses to state the obvious that 299 was the first appearance in cameo the same way Wolverine is in 180. The whole body was shown in a splash page Instead of a hand and half an arm in 298. 300 is first *full* appearance as it states on the label. If they can notate it for Wolverine they can for Venom.
  22. This is one of several newspaper supplements marvel released during the 80's. They did a few of these with department stores. Most of them were a spidey hulk team up against a villain. There's a Dallas times herald edition with a beautiful cover - the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders go missing . Most if not all of these supplement editions were drawn by Romita Sr. They do have some value in 9.8 depending on the print run. They're kind of like Marvel Tales issues in the sense of not being collected too much but still being cool.
  23. This is right on. I think maybe Kirby would be the only to transcend any age divide. As far as the wide waist thing goes, you're probably aware bodybuilding was in its infancy in those days. The "V shape" wasn't really popularized before the mid 60's when Mr. Olympia started. The physical depictions were a reflection of the times. One of the biggest changes in physical depiction from time of creation may have been Flash.
  24. Show off I ask because I thought he was doing something like his ASM 5.0 run
