  1. You going for an x-men 9.0 run? Or already have one completed?
  2. Are you looking for certified copies of the these besides 101 102? What grade range? Yeah you'd be hard pressed to find a certified 106 in high grade.
  3. X-men 95 9.6 to finally finish off the mini 8 book run of GSXM to x-men100 in 9.8/9.6. Its been put off for the last year. It started with #96 back in 2014.
  4. It's not lifting all the early ones. Looking at GPA besides 300 it's 298 299 that are seeing recent sizable increases at least in 9.8 and maybe modest increases in 9.6, 9.4. Thats because of Eddie Brock. Otherwise 301 does appear to be having a more modest increases but strangely only in 9.6 and not much in 9.8. Most other issues are stable. It looks to be more venom/carnage related than Mcfarlane because 316 361 are in that high increase group.
  5. you're born in 79 so I'm barely a year younger than you but sure why not Kinda reminds me of elderly high end collectors on their last legs discovering all these newly found "loved ones" lavishing attention lol. I'm not quite in that high end group.
  6. Agree with this! The goal is to sell the least amount of books possible and pass all of them on to my kids or nephews.
  7. Yeah of course you're right about the hyper level of cultural impact having diminished. That wasn't sustainable. I'm just not sure this necessarily equates to significant devaluation of important memorabilia. Imo, there doesn't need to be a massive cultural groundswell for a memorabilia market to thrive. There will always be interest in Elvis. Once an icon always an icon .
  8. Eh...I don't know about that. Maybe maybe not. People have been speculating on Elvis stuff outliving its value for some time. It still alive and well. I think the legend will only grow. This country has a big growing professional class that skews young. They're going to have disposable income for a looong time. That's great news for any collectibles market.
  9. I love this theme of spidey in the background looking over on Peter! Two others are 185 and 290
  10. Wow I can't even fathom the idea of someone being uninterested in such a cool item as a big key issue of a major comic character that's a household name. Especially if it's well preserved in a shiny graded slab passed on by a family member. When have super-heroes or comic characters not been intrinsic to society in some degree ever since the early newspaper comic strip days? I don't know that the bottom will ever fall out of this hobby considering older collectibles are still thriving. I mean I have no interest in Elvis memorabilia but if something were to fall on my lap through inheritance I'll learn to like it with the quickness! If you're talking about a bunch of long boxes of unremarkable filler drek that just eats up space that's one thing but otherwise I suspect future generations will appreciate value.
  11. This is unrelated to comics but a lasting memory from the 80's as my trips to Toys R Us were so euphoric in them days...when entering the store we always had to pass by the checkout area to get to the transformers section. There was always some kid at one of the lines throwing an epically massive tantrum over something! Unfortunately there was no way to bypass the area so we had no choice but to pass through the storm.
  12. Just curious as to your initial thoughts on Punisher upon seeing this the first time? I'm pretty sure you thought he was a villain? It was way before my time and I don't think there was any expectation or inkling of a new character. Unless it was previewed in another comic or somewhere? There wasn't anything on 128. I think it was just dropped on people.
  13. Is it possible one of or all of them kept the grade in the scan or did they all change?
  14. It's not that many and you prolly already have them anyway
  15. My limited experience with high grade bronze submissions is tighter than the strands on a bungee cord.
  16. Late 1990 early 91. Complete Comics & Cards Miami, FL. These were back issues at the time except for the Surfer which I bought off the rack. I was assured Mcfarlane's Torment would blow up one day
  17. a tangled web we weave. I can only speculate if it was a flat 5 dollars or 10 dollars it may have been an added handling fee that was previously missed. The invoice with the retroactive ( ~8 dollars) charge in my case was from a March invoice and it was charged last September along with my last submission. But yeah it can throw you for a loop even though these are minimal amounts I always try and get on top of whatever looks weird or out of place on these invoices 🧐🔍
  18. I don't know if this applies to your situation but I received a mystery 5 or 10 dollar charge (can't even remember) on my last submission which was just a reholder. It turns out it was from an old submission several months prior. The UPS shipping cost for the old sub was increased by a nominal amount that wasn't charged on that invoice at the time it was shipped. So to avoid just randomly charging me the extra amount they waited until my next submission. I found this out only by having CS transfer me to accounting because CS doesn't answer accounting questions. I tried emailing but I knew whenever I email the accounting department the responses are spotty. Probably understaffed? Anyone else getting a weird extra charge on their invoice it may have something to do with added shipping cost. So there's my little CGC CS rant. Most of the time the CS people are very courteous and helpful.
  19. Those picture frames are frustratingly tough to find above 9.4. And finding them in good wraps is a whole other matter.
  20. Yeah it looks like it. I haven't seen the graders notes though. There's a tiny amount of white to the right of the main pull area. Meh no big deal. The flash from the camera makes it look more noteworthy than it is in hand. The back cover is bright. The wrap is ideal, I like the color depth and I'm really into PQ. Funny 3 - 4 years ago I was aiming at a 9.4 before the prices got on rocket fuel
  21. Ring a ding ding...the postman cometh...and It finally happens
  22. Congratulations to both buyer and seller. Wow!
