  1. What would you think about a topps Lou Brock rookie card decent shape (maybe equivalent of a 9.2 CGC) and a somewhere mint '69 Rod Carew topps possibly equivalent of CGC 9.6? I've seen the high prices of getting something graded by PSA. I wouldn't think those are worth the cost of grading? I'd appreciate a much better informed opinion than mine
  2. What about tracking information after purchase? Do you require sellers to provide it? As a buyer would I be able to request you hold shipping until a certain date if it's a high value item requiring signature?
  3. What are your rules if any about listing books on your app while having them listed on other sites such as Ebay at the same time? Do you have a website incase I don't want to download another app?
  4. This is from my cousin's old stash Batman 357 squid cover I think '82ish. It does look out of sorts doesn't it The ad appears to resemble Kane's art?
  5. The 59k has been discussed tossed around once or twice here Was it because of the cva the mile high 2 (not even a pedigree anymore btw) or the color depth and centering maybe a combination of all? I happen to think because of the history of cva on CLink its because of that plus it "appears" to have exceptional color depth. Either way it was a wild departure from normal range even for a Clink CVA. I'm guessing that's something you may see again if MCU ever makes a serious announcement involving Wolverine. Not before I don't think
  6. I don't list very much by a long shot but the majority of my sales have been on Friday nights. I suppose maybe people have more time to waste get on Ebay or its because they get paid? But Fridays have been good!
  7. Yeah I get that but would you know how long before you can send another offer to the original group of watchers you had?
  8. Well if it's an item in the thousands and considering the sales tax 5% discount may not be all that bad.
  9. It works. I sold two books using the function. Last one just a couple of weeks ago. I came close on other occasions. The offers are for 48 hours I think it's a good idea. If you have enough interest to watch the item then it shouldn't be a bother. I think theres a restriction however. Like I don't think you can just send continuous offers for the same item after it expires. I don't know how long before Ebay allows for another offer to the same watchers after expiration? Anyone know?
  10. may i ask why? considering romita and thomas are the only ones left alive? Thomas brainstormed the character but his sig wouldn't really command too much of a premium so maybe not worth running the risk (albeit small) of a corner ding or whatever. Romita may be but its tricky on that particular book. Yes there's a group of collectors that would pay a healthy markup but I suspect it's a small group. Romita was the art director at the time so he put pencil to paper and designed the original costume at the behest of Thomas. People get finicky about sigs from those who didn't work on the book even if they partly created the character. The potential reward of a Romita sig is high but the pool of buyers is likely much smaller. You also have to consider black or silver ink and the location of the sig. That gets more tricky. If it's a book he worked on then hell yeah it's all worthwhile but again, I don't know if it's ideal on IH181. Just my opinion I would pay a higher markup with a Wein or Trimpe sig on that over a Romita. RIP to both . Wein had more involvement in the development of the character. Signatures are complicated in the open market! I think keeping it signature free is the best way to go but to each their own
  11. This is a good example of the boards offering useful information! Great thread and question from the OP! IH 180 has been trickling up in high grade numbers for a few years now. Slowly in 9.8 but steadily. ASM 101 will be a decent case study. Should be interesting to see how those census numbers move
  12. Three Dog Night...Sea monkeys...Steve Austin figures...those super hero themed fruit pie ads! I mean c'mon, how do you top that
  13. Obviously they're low carb protein noodles. He finishes that off with a lean mean Isopure Keto friendly protein shake !!! Look at the guy he's ripped to shreds 💪🏋️‍ Seriously though I agree with the dislike of how modern comics are produced. Especially the new attempts to recreate the FF...ughh that was rough to look at . Moderns give the impression too much technology is involved. Those old ads in that lovely newspaper stock were part of the charm. The smell the vintage look just everything about them.
  14. Would you happen to have an updated screenshot? Its not visible anymore I saw that episode more than once but I always missed the beginning where I guess they showed the book. Yeah the lady kept mentioning "first edition spider-man" or something to that effect. The screenshot by @kav on page 4 from "naked city" is stunning If dem boys only knew the fortunes they had behind them! These high quality super man screenshots from the 50's are eye candy
  15. Sorry if this was posted here before. This picture is from another boardie in another thread in silver forum. Avengers 60 in Mash. There's several episodes with Radar holding a comic book. Obviously not timely since the show takes place during the Korean war. ...and of course it was posted on page 1 anyway its worth another look
  16. Good thing they allowed artwork to be outside the frame! Apparantly Gog believed in dental hygiene. Good for him!
  17. Always thought it was weird they made Schemer (Kingpin's son) look older than Kingpin
  18. You're most welcome & congratulations! Woah I didn't know you had an 83 86 in 9.8 Some heavy firepower there my friend 💣💥💥💥 I'm looking for some Romita yellow labels myself
  19. I being 9 would of juggled chain saws bouncing on a pogo stick for that 300 ~ that time. My cousin then 18 would have volunteered the same if he knew the tsunami of nagging he would get from me asking if he'd found a 300 yet
  20. There's some big books in higher grades ending next Saturday on HA... We'll see. You also need to account for sales tax now
  21. I agree. To me it seemed like investors in 08/09 were taking their money out of stocks and looking at alternative places to invest. Comics saw a surge in buyers. That's what my memory is telling me. Am I wrong? At the time I thought "Wow, comics seem to be recession proof" Having looked at GPA for major titles in Marvel at least, they did seem unaffected for most part in 08 09. There is however a smattering of keys and non keys that saw a downturn ~2010 but not that specific 08 09. They stayed down for several years after 2010. Most notably IH181 but just in 9.8 did have a sizable drop in 2010. I suspect that may have been census related since every other grade was unaffected. It is comforting to know with as severe an event as 2008 it didn't result in widespread comics recession. Doesn't guarantee anything in future but it is reassuring
  22. Yeah you pointed out a dud that's for sure. AF15 had a wild run up last few years. The 2 auctions I was involved in certainly went bonkers! Others I was following ended on the high end so just my anecdotal view
  23. Its been mentioned here a million times the filling out of the census throughout this timeframe ~ 08 09 that could have influenced pricing more than anything in the economy. The frustrating thing is its impossible to have a definitive answer. If indeed there was a census filling coincide with a severe economic shock then to what do you attribute value decline? I would think 10 more high grade copies of any given book you thought was "lowish" in high grades would torpedo value more than macro economics. But who knows???
  24. Yes. Turn the book upside down that works if you're willing to believe spidey performing some weird levitation trick
