  1. Ive been watching the storage lockers that sell in my area looking for a good deal. It's all online here. Anytime I see something remotely interesting it ends up going for 200 to 300 dollars. There seems to be a lot people looking at these right now. I've spent a lot of time analyzing photos for things I could sell but I've never seen anything exceptional. Lots of used beds, unmarked boxes ect.
  2. Yeah that's definitely Hulk 181. I feel your pain bro. Sometimes you can scare/annoy sellers away by being too needy about it. If you would have pushed him to meet Tuesday after he said he could meet up Wednesday you might have pissed him off, or your eagerness might cause him to look into the comics values a bit more. I think you did the best you could considering his replies, it sucks that somebody beat you to the punch!
  3. That reminds me of a guy who was selling comics on kijiji (Canadian Craigslist). I forget what they were now but it was a killer deal. As soon as I saw the ad I called his phone. No answer so I left a voicemail. Three hours go by and I havent heard from him so I sent an email. There's no reply, and not wanting to seem too anxious I wait 24 hours and then text his number. No reply. Another 24 hours go by and I call him. To my surprise he answers, but I am told "you shoulda called earlier I literally just sold 'em the guy is driving away right now". I explained that I called, left a voicemail, an email and a text to which he replied thay he was too old for texts and emails. Some people who use craigslist/kijiji are just the worst. I know it sucks when you get excited about the purchase and then are let down but you gotta roll with the punches.
  4. I actually don't mind being stuck with the 'drek' if I can't sell them, so that's not a concern. I just bought a few collections over the summer intending to sell some stuff and make my money back. Right now seems like a good time to sell with Deadpool 2 coming out soon. I just need to sell enough comics that I can break even from purchasing those collections this summer.
  5. Yep it's first print. So what I'm thinking after reading the advice from you guys is I should sell the larger keys separately (NM 87, 98, Graphic Novel) and sell the rest as one big lot (including NM 25, Annual 2 ect.).
  6. I'm thinking of selling a New Mutants 1 - 100 collection I lucked into this summer and am looking for advice. It seems like a good time to sell with Deadpool 2 coming out soon and the New Mutants TV show. I also have the Graphic Novel, all annuals and the Fallen Angel miniseries. Everything is Near Mint Graphic Novel 9.0? NM 87 8.5-9.0 NM 98 8.5-9.0 The question is how do I go about selling all of this? Should I list the key issues on ebay separately and sell the rest non-key issues as one big lot? Should I get some key issues CGC Graded before selling or are they not a high enough grade to make it worth it? Would a press be worth the cost for NM 98? All the comics looks to be in that 8.5-9.0 range. White pages and in perfect shape except some spine ticks. Someone looking for the whole series would be very happy with them. Should I list it all as one lot? I've never sold comics before so I'm not quite sure what the best route is here.
  7. I've literally had dreams about finding collections like this. I'd love to know what the guy paid for everything.
  8. Holy on a stick. Somebody get this guy some longboxes, bags & boards STAT! He's got thousands of dollars worth of comics just casually stackpiled everywhere. He's so casual about it all to. "Here's Flash number 1. Amazing Fantasy 15." Here's the video of the horders house for anyone who's interested. Pretty incredible.
  9. The fact that one person owned all these (and is selling them to buy something even more expensive) is completely mind blowing to me. Here I thought I was pretty cool for owning a copy of New Mutants 98 lol.
  10. I just hope my LCS pulled it for me (I always get ASM). I've been going there for 20 years and ever once in a while a hot book comes out and it just happens to be missing from my pull list.
  11. Personally I would organize the Marvel Premiere books with the super hero, and not with the other Marvel books. I know your pain though, It can get tricky sometimes figuring out where to put stuff. I would start pulling the Superman and Green lantern books as you wish you had from the start. Would it take long to go through what you've already done and pull all the Super-man & Green Lantern stuff? Another tip, I just organized my own fairly large collection and I made my own makeshift sorting tabs by taking a comic backing board, slapping a sticky-note to it so it pokes out the top, and writing down the character on it. If I have ten or more comics of a specific character I'll make the makeshift sorting tab, and stick it alphabetically among my other makeshift sorting tabs. If I have less then 10 comics, I just place it roughly alphabetically in my misc-DC or misc-Marvel boxes.
  12. Who does he expect to buy 10 longboxes of random comics if not dealers? No casual reader needs 10 longboxes of random stuff, half of which they probably don't have an interest in.
  13. Yikes. You would think the guy would look at the comics, see how friggen old they are, and decide "hmmm . . . maybe I won't burn these ones." haha.
  14. Yikes. You would think the guy would look at the comics, see how friggen old they are, and decide "hmmm . . . maybe I won't burn these ones." haha.
  15. OrangeCrush are you affiliated with Drawer Boxes? Don't get me wrong, they sound like a good idea, but you seem to be pushing them pretty hard.
  16. Thanks for sharing! Sounds like the guy who sold them to you got a pretty good deal himself (for not having to put in the legwork to sell them). A good deal all around!
  17. Meh, no harm in asking. I know some people keep their methods close to the chest, but I tend to think an open discussion about would really just benefit everyone involved. Plus I just find that part of the transaction really interesting.
  18. Whoa those are some wicked books. How did you and the seller come to an agreement on price? I always find that to be the hardest part of the deal so I'm interested in how people do it, especially when there are some real books of value involved.
  19. Biggest Regret: I went to a garage sale and asked the guy running it if he had any comics. He then explained to me how he sold a giant box of old super-hero comics from the 50's and 60's to some guy the day before for 20 bucks. Sometimes people think there comics are older then they are, but these were his comics from when he was a child. He said they were all ten cents or twelve cents back when he bought them, and they had been in a box in the attic untouched for decades. He was asking 40 but the guy talked him down to 20. I literally drove past that garage sale the day before and thought "nah, I'll check it out tomorrow". Biggest score: Some guy was selling 3 long boxes of comics in great shape for $300. I get there and he has every single New Mutants comic from 1 - 100, all the annuals, and the original graphic novel. He also had an amazing flash run (like five 10 cent books, fifteen 12 cent books, tons of 25 cents and up books. He had a Flash run from 223-350, only missing 2 books. (235 & 346). The guy actually was looking up New Mutants 98 on ebay when I pulled up, so I thought he was going to increase the price, but he was happy to let them go for 300.
  20. This is what he's talking about Unfortunately for me, the shipping to send it to Canada costs almost as much as the boxes themselves! They seem great though.
  21. I've sent some people on kijiji sold eBay listings to show how off base they are with their price. It's never elicited a reply.
  22. If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for those? I'm assuming the person selling them practically gave them away because they are all coverless? Pretty cool score.
  23. I woulda given that guy the best feedback review ebay has ever seen!
  24. I actually prefer the current print quality to newsprint. That being said I would probably buy newsprint if it was cheaper.
