  1. Yeah for sure. I have no idea what to expect condition wise, but luckily that's something I can judge pretty easily once I see the books. Knowing what are the stand out valuable issues is a little more tricky.
  2. Haha it might seem like that's what I'm asking. I've been looking at prices on various websites but I figured maybe someone on these boards might already have a sweet list or resource for me to use. No harm in asking right?
  3. Cool, this will work. I was also hoping to throw together a quick list I can put on my phone so I can have a quick look at it if I'm not sure about an issue, so if anyone knows of a text-based list I'm all ears. Thanks guys!
  4. Thanks man. This is exactly what I'm looking for, except I want more like the top 200 most valuable (instead of 50). A lot of those top 50 are pretty obvious, and I would spot on my own. Even looking at this list though, I see some issues I would just breeze by. I don't read a lot of DC so Showcase #8 (first Captain Cold) wouldn't have registered to me other then in a "10 cent flash book, must be worth a little bit at least" kind of way.
  5. Hey all, I asked this in the newbie forum a couple days ago but didn't really get an answer so I figured I'd try here. I have a lead on someone looking to sell a rubbermade container full of silver-age comics (1960s to mid 70s is what they told me). They want me to come look and make an offer. I'm wondering if someone has a list of Silver Age key comics I could study prior to meeting this person, so if I see an valuable comic I will know I can barter higher when it comes time to talk money. Somebody suggested taking a price guide with me, but I worry the guy selling them would start looking up prices (which are usually inflated in the price guides compared to ebay) and ask for a ridiculous amount of money. But I would like to have a list to study so if I see for example Batman 139 in decent shape I will know "okay he's asking a lot but I can sell that one comic and make back 300 bucks no problem." Thanks!
  6. Where did she find these prices? lol. Send her this and say "I thought you said this was $1495 on ebay not $50?"
  7. Yeah, I've had a bunch of people respond to my facebook post saying they have "old comics" and it ends up being 80s/90s stuff. But this guy specifically said they are from the 60s to mid 70s, so fingers crossed! He's going to contact me once he 'digs them out' . . . it's taking a lot of my willpower not to message him every hour and ask if he's found them yet haha. I'll wait a week and if I haven't heard from him I'll message him. I don't want to seem too eager. But in the meantime I'm hoping to find a list of key/expensive silver age comics so I can be prepared.
  8. Haha thanks man. That's what I look like too! Truth be told it was just a doodle I did while trying to figure out how the apple pen worked!
  9. My profile pic is something I drew on my ipad pro using the program Procreate and an apple pencil. Feel free to follow my art on instagram
  10. Yikes, I've made some off-of-ebay offers to local sellers, I didn't realize they could get fined for it.
  11. Thanks Terrapin. I get the impression this guy knows little to nothing about comic books and wouldn't be interested in giving me a list or anything like that. He said he had to dig them out of storage so I'm guessing they are his dads or something. I'm going to see the comics in person before making an offer, and I bet it will be a "here's the bin, I don't know anything about them, make me an offer" sort of situation. If I bring an overstreet price guide with me he will likely start asking me what the guide says they are worth, so that seems like a bad idea (overstreet prices seem inflated compared to ebay). He wants to sell them all together so I would likely be making a offer price like "a buck a comic". I'm hoping I can get a list of the more valuable comics from that time period, so if we get in a debate about price, I would know "okay I can go a bit higher, there's a Hulk 181 (or whatever) in there" or "Nah I better not go higher, I don't see any valuable comics jumping out at me". p.s. condition is totally key, you are right. But I'm not sure what to expect on that front just yet. At least with condition it will be evident as soon as I look at them. I'm just worried about not realizing there's an expensive comic in the mix that I've missed.
  12. Hey guys I just joined today. (I wanted to ask a question to try and get a silver key/expensive comics list) but I've been lurking around the boards for the past month or so. I've been collecting Spider-man comics since I was 12 or so (I'm 30 now). Lately I've been really getting into Daredevil, as well as the New 52 Batman and Flash comics (which surprised me as I've never been too interested in Flash in the past). In the past couple months I've been buying up comic collections at garage sales and off of kijiji (Canadas Craigslist), in the hopes that I can sell some of the comics I purchase either on ebay or at a local comic convention next year to fund my crazy comic buying habit. I've got a couple good scores lately that I might send in to CGC to get graded. I was able to purchase the whole New Mutants run for less then a dollar per comic, so I'm thinking about sending in New Mutants 1, 87 (first cable) and 98 (first Deadpool) as well as the New Mutants graphic novel from 1982 (do they do graphic novels?). I'm still not exactly sure how I'm going to sell my comics (ebay or comic con) and I'm currently in the process of organizing them and figuring out exactly what I have and what it's worth. If anyone has any recommendations on a website/program to use it would be appreciated. I've just been looking at sold listings on ebay to get an idea. P.S. I binge read through the "post your garage sale/flea market finds here" thread. It's great to live vicariously through others!
  13. Hey guys, so I've got a pretty good lead on some potentially valuable comic books. I posted in a facebook swap and buy group that I would buy old comic collections, and got a reply from someone saying they have a rubber maid container full of old comics and they aren't sure what they are worth but want me to take a look. I tried asking for more information, if it was mostly Marvel or DC ect. but all they said in reply was "Everything 60s to mid 70s I think" Apparently this guy needs to go through his storage room and actually find the comics, so I have a couple days to prepare. My goal is to buy whatever he has for a reasonable price, and sell some of it to pay for the purchase. Now I have no idea what he is thinking price-wise . . . but I'd like to have a list of Key/expensive comics from the 60s/70s that I could study so when I go to look at them I can recognize if there are any expensive comics hidden in there. I have a okay grip on which Marvel comics would be worth some cash but could still use a help with those, and I am pretty clueless with DC and other publishers. Does such a list exist somewhere? Would anybody like to help me out? EDIT: Also if anyone has any general advice on how to figure out what to offer this guy it would be appreciated. Obviously I want to get them for as cheap as I can, but I don't want to start off with an offer so low I just insult the guy. How do you guys come up with a price value when making an offer on something like this?
