  1. Haha, didn't realize it was particularly controversial to have those films near the bottom and the Ant-Man movies in the middle. But hey, my motto when it comes to the MCU is everyone can enjoy what they enjoy.
  2. Watched it again. It was fine--probably closer to the bottom than the top of the MCU, but that's more a reflection of the overall quality of the MCU than the lack of quality of Black Widow. I'd rank it ahead of Iron Mans 2 and 3, Thors 1 and 2, Hulk, and Age of Ultron, and narrowly behind Captain Marvel and the two Ant-Mans.
  3. I've got my ticket and I'm excited. Haven't been since 2016 or 2017; should be a good time.
  4. This is great; I love these con reports!
  5. If you happen to do it at Baltimore this year, I'd have a good stack of books for you. Both in quality and quantity. Just sayin'.
  6. Does MCS ever go to big shows to pick up books themselves? Or is the only option for consignment to mail things in?
  7. Very interesting. Lots of different directions this could go, if it does in fact go forward (and it could just die on the vine).
  8. The writing was pretty inconsistent, as it has been throughout the season. But the voices and the animation remained strong, and the story itself was interesting. I think this was the weakest overall show, but I still enjoyed it very much, and look forward to Season 2.
  9. The first ~5-6 episodes are the weakest, in that it's too much of a "CW Show" (i.e. like Riverdale), but after that the mix of humor/heart/horror really kicks in and the show really becomes fantastic.
  10. Seems like there isn't a thread for what I consider to be one of the best shows on television, starting Season 3 this Friday. Figured I'd get one started because this is a show that deserves the following.
  11. I need to get off my behind, comb through my CGC books, and figure out what I'm submitting.
  12. Loved tonight's episode, as I've loved this entire season. I'd argue this has been the strongest CW superhero season for at least a couple of years.
  13. This is just encouraging me more and more to sell with them. That latter point, especially, is useful--if there are multiple copies listed of a book and I'm willing to sell for 10% under what the others are, that's an advantage to me I'd think.
  14. How are you pricing your books? At GPA, slightly above GPA, or something different? I'm likely sending in a few to MCS (this thread having convinced me) and I'm curious about your approach.
  15. Thanks. Since Goldin can't get the preview up on its website, has it considered sending something out via email to past bidders and/or interested parties with a list of books with photos, perhaps?
  16. Do you have any sense for how big the next auction is going to be, in terms of total books? The first auction seemed deliberately small and curated, so I'm curious if the second one will be more expansive (or if you're gonna keep it small until the new platform is up and running).
  17. Goldin is a market leader in sports cards, and is attempting to become one in comics. I think it's to everyone's benefit to hold Dom's, and Goldin's, feet to the fire in these early days.
  18. Why only 24 hours in advance? What's the logic departing from what the market expects?
  19. Dom, you haven't exactly put your best foot forward, except that Goldin decided to hire you. You said you've been selling and buying for 8 years, but haven't given much details about where and what you've sold, who you buy from, etc. And you now seem to dismiss people who've been doing this for 4-5x as long--the same people who, you know, you want as future customers and consigners. You're betraying a lack of experience in this very moment.
  20. That pales in comparison to Goldin, who likes to boast that he's been involved with sports cards since the 70s. It is quite surprising--and how does it compare to the other auction houses (obvious CL can say ~20 years b/c of Josh).
  21. Lol. I am pretty confident that the books appearing multiple times on this list qualify as keys, at minimum (as well as books like Batman 181, which I had in my list but may not have appeared on others' top 10).
  22. I think there needs to be more acknowledgement that the way the sports card auctions work isn't 100% transferrable to the comics auctions. That includes the 30 minute timer, the restrictions on bidding, and the lack of previews. This first auction was fine, but if they're going to grow and have more items in each auction, changes need to be made.
  23. I think it'll be right around 200k; the weaker eye appeal will drag it down some, but not significantly.
  24. My understanding is that Goldin has pretty robust procedures in place to prevent non-payment. I'd expect all the winning bidders to pay.
