This seems unfair.  It's not like we have people from Heritage, Comiclink or Metropolis/CC posting here regularly.

Sure, maybe I was too harsh (it does look harsh re-reading it). I may just be extra-tough on Goldin, from whom I've bought a fair number of sports cards. But with this big of a player, better to be overly critical than under-critical.

Oh no, I have been on the boards since 2015 and lurking long before that. At one point I was a fairly active member. This is my original account and my profile pic is my old Silver Streak 6. Although I will admit my activity on the boards recently has been almost none.

As I said it before missing this thread was an oversight on my part. I Should have checked the Golden age thread as soon as I started. I should have known you guys would have had a thread on the auction. So I apologize leaving you guys in the dark for so long.

Why should we be motivated to work with Goldin when someone in your position doesn't think to check this board, or even do a forum-wide search for "Goldin"? The attention to detail seems lacking, when this is supposed to be such a big deal.

Yes--once a buyer has paid for an item and we've shipped it, the consignor gets paid and if anything happens with the buyer after the fact, that's our responsibility. Consignors are never bothered by buyer complaints, returns, etc. That is a significant source of value we provide to our consignors.

I'm so hesitant to sell anything worth more than ~$150 on eBay out of fear of scammers and other negative consequences. Removing those risks from the equation is such a huge plus.

So no one believes that eBay itself has a shill bidding problem? That it might not be seller specific. I really think this is sorta eBay blaming an outgoing client for their own problems faults.

That's exactly what's happening here. It's a problem throughout eBay, and eBay is largely unwilling to fix the problem, except when it involves a company that's about to leave the platform to start its own platform.

Which previous books that shot up after a movie "dropped like a rock"?  I only collect the major titles, but all of the issues featuring a major character that got a movie bump didn't drop significantly afterwards.

Avengers 55 is one--Ultron rocketed and then plummeted.

It's always amazed me that of all sports cards, it's a Honus Wagner that is the most valuable.  In comic terms, it would be like Green Lantern #1 being the most valuable comic, ahead of Action 1 and Tec 27.

It's obviously an inexact comparison, since the T206 cards for players like Cy Young and Ty Cobb also command huge values, as do the early Ruth and Gehrig cards. But it also shows that sports cards are a different beast from comics.
