Might be a good time to buy some nice bball cards since the market is at a huge discount compared to prices these cards were hammering between Feb-Apr.
Yeah that's pretty much what's been happening. I put in "lowball" offers/bids compared to the last few months, but end up winning because of the downward swing in the market.

Welp, let's see your guys' wins tonight with the Comiclink Auction ending in just a few hours. Good luck to all bidders!
Only have two winning bids, both with multiple days left and I doubt they'll hold. Can't say I'm too upset tbh--been buying a lot of basketball cards lately, so I'm in a bit of a cash crunch and losing a bunch of these auctions isn't the worst thing in the world for me (hey, look at that: perspective!)

It’s a feature, not a bug. They force you to bid in order to be able to create a watched or tracked list. I try to be on the CL site as close to the start of an auction (always 8pm) as I can to be able to make the lowest bids possible and create my list.
That's basically what I do too.

But recognizing he is a huge fan of the Excalibur movie, for now I'm not getting worried. He may be bringing portions of the story to more modern times. Like a Camelot 3000 set during the Gold Rush. Arthur being reborn.
I guess so? It just seems weird is all. Whatever, I'll certainly wait for the trailer/more concrete info before I make too much of a conclusion.

Wait...what? I thought he was doing a "faithful" retelling, and the Gold Rush is...not that.

I paid $2900.00 for my last one and felt at the time is was overpriced badly because the same copy sold a year earlier for $1900.00. It’s funny how your emotions change over time with what your paying at the time. I’ve learned to place all of my business emotions in the long game because the short game causes you undo stress. Buy quality and you’ll probably never regret your purchases be it comics, stocks, property or most anything else…
That's really good advice. Same way I feel about my ST110: I overpaid for it when I got it...in March of 2020; now it's worth 3x what I paid. I was happy to get the book, and am glad to know ti'll pay off at some point.

I have trouble looking at the AA 61 .... I had a chance to get a copy that had some work done to the spine but presented like a VF range book and passed. I could have taken it home and made payments for a year ... it was only a couple grand GOD BLESS...

I feel your pain just reading this. My truest sympathies.

I just realized that this beauty is also going up in the auction. Both of the great Grundy covers, in amazing condition, in the same auction. I am downright giddy with excitement, yet also bereft with grief that I do not have anywhere near the funds to take home either of them. Alas.

I imagine you must be referring to this absolutely gorgeous and stunning All-American 61 book here, with the classic Solomon Grundy cover:
Makes me wonder who's the lucky guy (was it Veryzl ) that has the CGC 9.8 graded copy stashed away into their own private personal collection and if it's the Edgar Church copy of All-American 61?
That's the one. Absolutely gorgeous book. I would love to see the 9.8 and/or the Church book, if they aren't the same book. And I cannot wait to see what this book sells for--this one, at least, earned its grade.
-
Overgraded, undergraded, that Solomon Grundy book looks real freaking sweet to me.
-
Yes absolutely. I may still look to get another copy and use my brittle one to help finance it, but I'm not in a position to be picky, especially with rarer/more desirable books.

Nice, if you get all 6, you should post all of them here. You could also jump for a raw BB1 to save money as well...
Yeah if I don't have one by the time I start going back to shows in the Fall I expect I'll just buy raw. I don't like buying raw over the internet because I can't inspect it myself, but once I can go to shows again, that worry disappears. In fact, that may be more likely than (A) or (B) from above--I buy raw, then pay CGC to get it graded b/c I'll be holding it forever.

I say go for Book 1 first. If you can't afford it, then go for option B. The issue is I don't see momentum for BB1 to go down as we get closer to the rule of 25.
Yeah I've just been lazy about it. I've picked up a couple other issues (including 6, which is the first appearance of Inque, one of my favorite characters from the show) so I imagine I can do it in close to one swoop. I imagine I'll go for Option B for completeness; just waiting for it to pop up in an auction. (Edit: just checked ComicLink and saw a 9.0 coming up in the auction starting tonight. So...yeah.)

This thing has already taken off, I'm afraid. I'm really intent on building the run of the 6 issue miniseries and the origin issue, and getting #1 is going to require either (a) me spending way more than I want or (b) a grade haircut from the other books in the runs. Alas.

Is anybody here going to be celebrating their big win for this CGC 9.8 graded copy of GSXM 1 here at the same time tomorrow night:
Currently sitting at only a meagre $42K and a relative steal, as compared to the $67.9K in the last CL Focus Auction about a long long month ago or the $60K that an equivalent graded copy sold for on CC just a couple of weeks ago.
Something tells me that price is gonna jump at the end...

Well, if the restored copy of All-American 61 is not in your price range, you can always go try for this newly designated pedigree copy then:
Looks like they haven't finished fully loading this scan into their auction website yet, but since this is only a CGC 9.6 graded copy, it makes me really curious as to whether the highest CGC 9.8 graded copy is also from a pedigree. If so, which pedigree and really jealous of the collector who owns it.
Oh my sweet merciful god! I can't even comprehend that level of beauty.

They are reportedly pulling the Kate will look different because she needed plastic surgery after the accident soap opera trick.
They could've done that in 1-2 episodes without ever bringing in a new Batwoman, but whatever. The new Batwoman has been fine, especially when she isn't in costume.
-
For my money, Detective 373 is one of the most underrated SA Batman books.
-
Personally, I have no problem buying restored books, especially GA books. If I can get big books at a discount, I'm going to do it, especially if the books look good. I'm not trying to resell things quickly, so the discounts' only effect is keeping my wallet a little further from empty when I pay for the new additions.
