  1. I don't understand peoples reluctance to share their best investment strategy with strangers.
  2. I don't know much about these but there are a few for sale on ebay. These are two different trailers, for the Ben Afflack Daredevil movie. Trailer B runs 1:45 and has a sticker that says it is for a film that has not yet been rated and says scope on the outside Trailer 3 runs 2:28, has a sticker that says it is rated PG-13, is slightly bigger than the other trailer and says Flat where the other says Scope. The smaller of the two is about the size of a hockey puck, the other is slightly larger. $15 each or both for $25 shipped media mail in the USofA. No returns if seals are broken, otherwise let me know in a week if you aren't happy. No naughty folks, and paypal or zelle is preferred. Two sets available. Photos to follow. I also have two huge vinyl posters from the movie. One of DD and one of Bullseye. I'd estimate them to be 10feet by 6feet although thats just a guess. $50 each, both for $80. You pay exact shipping.
  3. I would, but I like to eat and can't wait a year or more to get my books back to sell. When I asked about your waiting times, someone who claims to use you told me to expect six months for you and ten months or more for CGC. I'm not sure where I'll be in fourteen months so using the experts isn't much of an option. If you or any of the "experts" would guarentee a 30 day turnaround, I'd send you a couple hundred books tomorrow. Since you can't and no one else can, it kind of limits peoples options. I'd love to see you expand and bring in whatever you need to change your one man shop into a real business, and I don't mean that to say you don't already have a very nice business. It just needs to be scaled so turnaround times are practical. Presented with the available options, it is no wonder so many people have taken to attempting to press their books.
  4. The books were graded after the incident so the grade reflects the damage done by it. I'm not sure what it is you want. If you want to say the book is overgraded in your ad, go ahead. Letting buyers know they are buying a 9.8 slab that with another $100 invested will be a 9.8 slab, is an unusual marketing technique but give it a shot.
  5. If people who press are so concerned about pressing being done wrong, they could easily post a video showing how it is done and what pitfalls to avoid. As they don't , it seems they are more interersted in protecting their livilhoods than the hobby itself. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
  6. Do you think they are going to go down in popularity? Will Wolverine be more or less popular five years from now when he is firmly established in the MCU? Will his increased presence make him less popular?
  7. You start a thread where you aks for advice and then post this nonsense. You obviously know more about whatever it is you seem to be asking for, so I will bow to your knowledge and watch from the sidelines. Hopefully, some of your expertise will rub of on us. Thank you for joining our meager little board.
  8. I have better luck buying than selling at their auctions, although their premium auctions trend better.
  9. What I find strange is how many books I sell overnight. I don't seem to get many alerts during the day, but most mornings, I wake to a sold book or two. Monday morning, I woke to find a Detective 52 sold, with no negotiations, someone just bought it.
  10. I think the "Scout" universe, with it's Swords of Texas spinoffs is some of the finest work done by independant companies in the 80s. I think it would make a great cable show. I didn't care for the "Monday" character but really liked how they resolved the whole mess at the end of the first series. I highly recommend this series.
  11. I'm guessing the "Advisor" did a quick grade with the book in a bag and never saw the back cover. Maybe it's easier to make good on hidden defects when you get a complaint. The Overstreet Advisor badge used to have a lot more pull than it dies now.
  12. I don't remember but it was an introduction rate, as I recall. I closed my old account , but let me see if I can access it. to see how long it lasted. My old account was personal, this one is It was a great way to make a splash when they entered the consignment business. Edit - Some of the books I sold in October and November 2011 were fee free, and some I paid 10% on, so I'm not clear on the details. It sickened me to see the prices of books in 2011.
  13. I was doing some book keeping this morning and realized I had gone over the $100,000 mark in sales with MCS. I miss the days when they were doing zero percent rakes on their new consignment department.
  14. A double cover will double or triple the value of most common books, but I doubr a double cover AF 15 would double because of it. I have no idea what the most expensive double cover has gone for, I've never really seen a key book that has one. I sold a DC Superman-Flash race for over double GPA for it, but it was a 6.0. I doubt a 9.2 would have gotten double GPA.
  15. Is there writing? I was expecting mindless explosions and the like. I recently watched all the Harry Potter movies in about a week so how bad can they be.
  16. It looks like Bumblebee is a prequel, so should it be seen first? I have not read a Transformers comic since Spidermnan guest-starred in one.
  17. Very few of those books have variants, but he started with Star Wars so I can see how he doesnt know those are the exception.
  18. I'm not sure. It was in a mylar 2 and it seemed easier to waste ten minutes than to open it.
  19. If you don't know what you are doing, it can take some time. Yesterday I was checking prices on a book that said King Size Special #1 with Daredevil under it. The top box said King Size Special, the writing on the spine said Daredevil Special. I finally found it listed as Daredevil Annual #1. When you get a book that says Marvel Premiere 2 The Power of Warlock, it can be confusing. What we take for granted can be confusing to the novice, but you have to start somewhere.
  20. I've been dealing with an auction house in the midwest for a few months. They run about two auctions a week and since October I spent just under $6,000 with them. Last week I bought a few NASA related items, some comics, an auction lot of bric brac and a 1840s map of the Northwest Territory of Minnesota/Wisconsin. They send out an invoice for you to go over before they process payment. I notice they are charging $60 for shipping, which seems pretty high. I emailed them to ask about it and am told that the bric brac lot contains two metal objects, each weighing about ten pounds and that is what is causing the expensive shipping. The lot went for $5. I email them asking if they can simply not ship whatever these heavy things are, and am told they do not ship partial lots. I ask if I can pay for the lot and simply give it back to them to re-sell and am told no. I ask if I can pay for the lot and they simply throw it away. This morning, I get an email telling me they can dispose of the lot, but I need to pay a $25 disposal fee. I wrote back telling them not to ship anything and not to charge my card. I explained how the auction description didn't mention the weight or that shipping it would be expensive. Told them I would no longer be buying from them Got a response saying my account was suspended and would not be reactivated until I pay my outstanding invoices. A number of the auction items state that the lot can not be shipped and some state that because of the size and weight, shipping may be expensive. This particular lot had no warning. I was on pace to spend about $15,000 with them this year. I'd think they would make an effort to retain a customer like that.
  21. I would go to www.mycomicshop.com and start looking up books.
