  1. Thanks. I passed on it. It went for $800 plus 16 %. The next bid was $850, and I'm pretty sure the guy would have gone more.
  2. Yes, I learned the hard way that you needed to pay extra for the quick delivery.
  3. I like the early Dredd art from 2000AD. It was a strange mix of Peanuts meets Star Wars.
  4. Amazing Spider-Man 1, with half the cover gone and the rest not attached, BC missing some chunks, interior is okay, nothing missing. Pages mostly cream, no brittlesness. Currently at $800. Would you buy?
  5. No, short and to the point. Sparkle City is more than just Neat Stuff without Mike. There was a bit more, but not germane to this thread.
  6. Come up to me at a swap meet with a $100 and that's a lot of cash. Approach some dealers at NYC with a thousand dollars and it isn't. It's all relative.
  7. I was informed, via pm, that Sparkle City is not just Neat Stuff without Mike.
  8. I pay ebay 13% of the sale so of course I'm going to bump up the price.
  9. By the by, I bought many a BA book from Tony S, who was a mainstay in the CBG. One of the first ads I'd check out every issue.
  10. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't Sparkle City just Neat Stuff without Mike?
  11. When was the latest info on him from? Anything after 1990? That's about when he seems to disappear.
  12. I thought I had responded, but its not there. I asked about the stain in the upper corner of the back cover. If it doesn't bleed into the inside, maybe a 7.5. If it does, I'd go 6.0
  13. If you bring kids, get a proximity alarm that lets you know when they've wandered so far from you. Set it about 15 feet.
  14. Say your prayers and eat your veggies. Maybe someday. I was just showing off some 1930s tin toys I found at a garage sale. My friend was admiring them ,saying how he never finds anything. I asked him how many garage sales he'd been to and he said, one, maybe two.
  15. Nice. Always good to be at the right time and place. However, when buying 100 books, always demand a discount. What could the man have done?
  16. Yes but the average order needs to be more than one copy per book. When I had my shop, the minimum was one book, but the minimum average was five. Buying a 100 copies of Xbooks usually meant you were set, average wise.
  17. If buying from Mycomicshop, don't buy off of ebay. Anthing they have on ebay is available on their website cheaper.
  18. If you are looking for non-HG books, you can't go wrong with Gary Dolgorf. Just don't expect premium grade books. If he calls it a VG -, most would call it a Fine.
  19. I was going to go with 6.0 but after posting I read the post above and noticed the pull or whatever by the exhaust. 5.5
  20. I'd be surprised if they didn't have minimum copies per book, as well as a minimum $$$$ amount. I don't think they would let you order one of a monthly book, for example.
  21. I own a 54, so for me the case is settled.
  22. If you are buying books for big bucks, any dealer worth his salt will offer a restoration warranty, but that means the expense of having it slabbed. A slabbed book that is in the price of a raw book plus slabbing fees seems pretty reasonable. I don't understand dealers that add hundreds to a books price because they slabbed it. If you want to keep it raw, deal with the pros. Any dealer that's on here is a good place to start. I started to name names, but I'm afraid I'll leave someone off.
  23. For all we know, the ownership of both companies might be the same, or at least overlap.
