  1. No, that book isn't worth even considering getting restored. Before you even think about spending money on getting a book restored, you need to educate yourself on the process, the cost and the risk and reward of doing it. On that particular book, you'd spend about $300 to end up with a book worth $50.
  2. I never purchased or sold him anything, but I corresponded with him about an Underground collection I was considering buying and he helped me avoid what might have been a costly mistake on my part. RIP and deepest condolences to his family and friends.
  3. They are nice, but for $1200, Ill keep my books in comic drawers and buy a couple of Schomburg war covers. As they say, this is why Bask in Robbins offers dozens of flavors. I'm glad you think they are worth it. In the end, that's what matters.
  4. Then why don't collectors open accounts and skip their LCS? I know several who spend that much and more.
  5. Smart thing would be to sell your slabs when they hit seven. Make it someone elses problem.
  6. Can you order one each of 150 books, and nothing else?
  7. The miswrap doesn't effect the grade, per say, but it reduces the books desirability. Given a choice ogf two 9.8s, one with white, one with none, most people go with the second. I've yet to meet a collector who looks for the white ones.

    My Spinner Rack

Interesting concept. Hope it goes well for you.
  9. I don't see why they can't do both. Blast the fact that this is THE FIRST ISSUE of an exciting new story arc or direction change, while still putting the regular number on the cover or the indicta.
  10. Post the books in the grading section and go by the grades people give them, then contribute to the boards for awhile. People who simply come here trying to sell books don't do as well as folks who are active contributors. On most books, and on most sites, don't expect to get Overstreet value. Exceptions would be key books but the stuff you listed-Dell, Gold Key is not very desirable, with some exceptions.
  11. You are about a year too late. Board members used to give each other good deals, but its been awhile since I've seen much worth buying here.
  12. At some point, some blame has to go to the seller. He chose not to spend ten minutes on the internet, and evidently took the first offer he received.
  13. Yes, but they aren't the exclusive sellers. These came in one of the Stan Lee/ POW boxes and people often resell the stuff.
  14. These are fantastic. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAN-LEE-BOX-EXCLUSIVE-SHIRT-BRAND-NEW-SIZE-SMALL-/253156304344?hash=item3af14aa5d8:g:Im4AAOSwLGtZuHjX Not mine, not selling any. Just sharing the love
  15. It was included in an album that was an audio version of the original book. The reprint was never sold separately in 1966. It's part of an line of Marvel Albums Golden Press did.
  16. 7.5, but those marker marks make me wonder about color touch.
  17. There are lots of SA Marvels that have incorrect information in the indicta. Unless there are some with incorrect, and others with correct info, its no big deal. I don't have a copy so I can't look.
  18. Did you work for Camelot, by any chance? I applied for a job there by mail. It just seemed like the koolest place in the world to work. The owner told me to apply in person. I went to the Sugar Bowl that year and considered renting a car to drive there but spent the days getting hung over instead
  19. You should always be careful what you post on these forums. Not everyone reading these is a friend. Last year, someone posted pictures of some very expensive books he has on display in his house and about a week later posted about taking his family on vacation.
  20. Talk to the Art Director at your local HS, or if you live in a big city, the Director at a school that specializes in the Arts. They make be able to assign students to it as a project. It won't be a finished project, but it will give you a rough sample to show publishers your concept. What you really need is an experienced editor.
  21. In NY, the contractor would be liable for criminal acts by his employees and subcontractors.
