  1. So the vendors waste money getting their books overgraded so they will sell slower. Got it. That makes almost as much sense as someone buying books they know to be overgraded just to send them to Sarasota so they can be properly graded.

  3. Can this be correct? The latest issue of AARP newletter says this, in an article on what to save and what to throw away. ' A 1969 Fritz The Cat comic book in nearly pristine condition went for a whopping $717,000 in 2017" Then they quote someone I never heard of, Courtney Wilson about grail pieces.
  4. Anyone who thinks Steve B. suddenly forgot how to grade or lost his integrity when he moved to Tampa is not playing with a full deck.
  5. Please pass the koolaid if there is any left....
  6. Nice. There is an earlier set of stickers, as well, right?
  7. Wasn't Marvel supposed to have been doing the same thing at the same time? I seem to recall several Marvel artists researching for these stories.
  8. I want to blow out a few boxes of modern( post 2000) stuff. Everything was read once and bagged and boarded, in some cases in mylite2s. I got them in trade for some SA Batbooks. Don't want to scan hundreds of books, so my question is if I price them at $1 each, can I expect them to move? Its stuff like New Avengers, Dark Avengers, New 52, X-Men, and so on. Right now just Marvel and DC. Is $1 a book realistic or optimistic? Thanks.
  9. If you can keep your comics in two or three locations, you can cut down on your insurance bill substantially. My books are in three locations. The odds of them all being robbed or destroyed is infinitesimal, thus I can insure my collection for less.
  10. In my comic room, I have my boxes labeled like this. The really good stuff reads- 3 for a dollar bulk, and the common stuff all says- Premium or Super Premium books. Hopefully, a thief will be doing a smash and dash and grab my New Avengers stuff and leave the GA stuff untouched.
  11. I got three deliveries from Amazon today. One guy dropped off a box of dog biscuits, another dropped off lightbulbs and the third just delivered a replacement for a shoddy exercise strap. All could easily have fit in one box.
  12. In grade school, we weren't allowed to read comics.
  13. Which version is closest to the book? I read it but can't remember it. Was the boy scout in the book? Seems like a strange omission. Same with the battery acid.
  14. I have about twenty, give or take a couple. At first I was only buying the Schomburg covers, but they tend to be pretty pricey. I found a coverless #2 that I had a replica cover made, and at this point I don't think I'll ever get a number 1, its just way out of my price range. Thought I saw one for $13,000 but I missed the last zero. Best of luck with your quest.
  15. Never read any Tarzan and most of the movies I saw were the 1930s ones, but who was Boy? He's not Tarzans son, that would be Korak, right? Is Korak also adopted?
  16. The day I met him in Vegas and he did the Batman sketch, I had just bought a New X-Men Omnibus. It completely skipped my mind that he was involved with it. It wasn't until later that night that a board's asked me if he'd signed it that I remembered.
  17. Conan has fought dragons, Frost Giants, giant snakes, wizards, immortals, vampires and more. Tarzan may have fought a lion, but Conan(Amra is a lion.
  18. The Post Office most convenient to me has a large( two foot by two foot) that states Comic books are not eligible for Media Mail. I guess they had issues in the past. I don't use media very often but when I do, I drop them off at another PO and have not had a problem. Over the years, I think I'm two for several hundred as far as problems go. Once was a shipment to Hawaii and the other was opened, but delivered with half the contents missing. I had used several smaller boxes inside a bigger box, and one of the boxes inside had my address on it and was delivered to me as if it was going thru normal channels. Both were board transactions.
  19. I met him at the first Vegas Con and I had the Heroes Initiative Three Minute Sketch book with me. He signed another book for me and asked to look through the sketchbook. To my surprise, he asked if he could do a sketch. He drew a wickedly evil looking Batman in under two minutes. Rest in Peace.
  20. You'd think they would have battery backups for situations like this.
  21. Looks like it is hitting both Sarasota and Tampa. An equal opportunity storm. It obviously hates the slabs.
  22. I gave some thought to moving to The Keys before I decided on Vegas. The possibility of having to go through a hurricane or two a year was one of the deciding factors against it. I still hope to winter there one season.
  23. I cant think of a film that I laughed as much during. It's a very scary, creepy film but has some brilliant comedic moments.
