  1. Wanted to get others thoughts on this.  Thought I had a higher-grade ASM 16 (originally CGC 7.5) which after a solid cleaning/press got a 7.0 grade.

Grader notes only note the excess red INK transfer on the center right cover.  The thing is, if you look closely, its not red ink from the Daredevil glove that got smudged by someone.  You can see the detail and inking of the glove.

Rather, it looks like the factory printer was bleeding the red ink a bit a smudged it at factory.

Should this have been graded so low?  Or is this something that CGC should have not downgraded the book on?

  2. This has been going on for awhile now.

For the past few months, each return shipment of graded books back from CGC (whether it is the 15 book or 25 book box) has been missing the top HoneyComb Cardboard and has been replaced by one piece of bubble wrap.   At times, I have received damaged cases back, and went thru the painful process of returning to CGC for a Mechanical Error.

I called Customer Service, and they claimed in the past it was because of supply chain issues....but at this point it seems a bit ridiculous.

And even more interesting, when you go to the CGC Shop and search for a Shipping Kit for comics, it is advertised to come with the HoneyComb top.  So why is it deemed required to ship books to CGC using the Honeycomb Insert with raw books, but not deemed necessary to ship graded books back to customers?

I re-use the CGC boxes to store my books, and without this insert, its nearly impossible to store/stack the boxes nicely.

I don't know about any of you, but it really has been nothing me for quite some time now.  Anytime I voice these concerns to Customer Service, it goes into some black hole with the Shipping Department, and I never hear and response from Shipping.

Have any of you noticed this as well over the past few months?  Thoughts?

@CGC Mike - Why is this happening?

My 2 received 8/10 economy slow subs just moved into graded today (6/15).

My one Economy Tier order was 'Received' on 8/12/21, and still no movements.  Current time CGC hands is 210 Business Days....two weeks left before they blow past the 220 Day TAT.

What do you think the odds are of seeing my submission move before the 4th of July :pullhair:

In the past, if I sent in 2 submissions at the same time and one came back with 80% of the books graded at 9.8 and 70% for the other, I'd be a little surprised at the variance. These days it's completely normal to get 80% on one submission and 10% on the other. It's like the Wild West.

TRUTH!  I Experience this all the time....my eyes were not that bad...and its a larger 100 book order submitted in one box, broken out by 25 books each.  No way that level of difference for one large submission.

However, in my opinion, they have an obligation to more-or-less meet the stated TAT estimates in place at the time a submission is made.

    EXACTLY!!!

Why play games CGC?  TAT is at of the date submitted...its for people to understand if they submitted today, how long it will take to get back.

TAT's should NOT be used a moving target for current submissions....  I have been saying this for so long....

    To be clear...

You resubbed slabs to be clean & pressed at CCS, and the grades went down?

I never once mentioned CCS in any of my posts (to be clear)....they were done by a well-known indy presser that shall remain nameless.

To note, I never ever had CPR's downgraded like this consistently.  If anything I had a book or two come back the same grade.

@Terry JSA took me about 15 searches just now lol

I raised this to many CGC Rep's a couple of months back, and they said it would be resolved soon.  @CGC Mike - Why are we only limited to 10-15 books prior to being locked out?

Many of us are looking at tons of slabs for a large purchase, and need this info readily available.  Why offer something 'Free' to paying customers if its not always available?

From what I've been told by CGC, your TAT is what is posted TODAY, not what it was when you submitted your books.

If that is the case, then why are some CGC Representatives asking me what the TAT was when the books were first marked as 'Received'?  Then then tell me that I should follow the TAT when books were first submitted.  Try it yourselves, go call CGC a couple of time, and you'll get a different answer each and every time.

I am not a CGC hater by any means (submitted a poop ton of books over the past 2-3 years), but their customer service reps leave a lot to be desired....they are not making this insanity any easier.  And have attitudes to boot.  @CGC Mike - Please take note, although I have little confidence anything will ever change.

I remember it was 137 days for Economy last October and it was expanded to 169 days last January and is now ballooned to 223 days!!!

Because of the extreme mixed messaging from CGC customer service reps, I'll ask all of you....

Let's say in the case above, my Economy Tier books were received in October 2021.  At that time Economy Tier is 137 business day.  However, today, Economy Tier is 223 days.

Should my expectations for turnaround times be based the TAT from when the books were first received, or current TAT?

I was told we’re actually just shifting resources right now to tackle EC. You should be seeing some movement on that tier over the coming weeks.

Hey @CGC Mike, what the latest on this?  It's been almost two weeks, and I can tell you that ZERO progress has been made on the Economy Tier front.

You guys are still grading books received as of 8/2/21.  In Mid-April, you were grading books received the week of 7/28/21.   Moving at a snails pace IMHO, and CGC can give two craps about their customers....that is clear.

Oh good I'm not the only one dealing with this bs.  Hey CGC, here's a tip.  If the turn around time to even start the pressing process for non-fast tracked books is longer than 8 months (what is it now? a year?  Not sure if that was the TAT when I submitted them last July, but oh well) then get rid of the 8 month deadline where is stops tracking the orders.  I thought a whole bunch of new people were hired and improvements were made? I mean that was the justification for price increases, right?

For what feels like the millionth time when dealing with grading companies...COMMUNICATION IS KEY!  Let your customers check status at any time for as long as it takes.  None of this "sorry, now you can't even view your order!" nonsense.

    End rant.

I got one even better for you all.  I've been told for over two weeks now, that the Graders are wrapping up Economy Tier orders as of the week of 8/2, and I am next in line.

I call today, because my Economy Tier as of 8/12/21 received date has not moved, and wanted to see where they are.

The rep then asks me, "So for the date you submitted it, what was the expected TAT at that date?".  First off, I do not remember offhand any TAT from 9 months ago.  Second, why is CGC still playing the game for Customers to follow TAT's at the time the order was submitted.

Many times in the past, when calling about an order that was late, CGC reps would tell me that they go off of current TAT for all orders.  They stated in the past that TATs are for all orders in that tier, not for orders received as of that day.   Now CGC reps are telling customers that we should only follow TATs from when order were first received.

CGC needs to get their story straight!  Are TAT's that I see right now (1) Only for all orders that were received this date or (2) For all orders of the same tier, regardless or not if it was received today, a month ago, or a year ago?

I also question if it is professional or not (where exactly are the fingers). It is a good sketch but nary a confident line to be found in my opinion, except for the signature which is well practiced.

2020? odd year pandemic wise for cons. Search the signature on google images is my best advice.

It was done in early 2020 (before Mid-March).

I don't understand what "nary a confident line" means...

If anyone can help with this signature...it would be greatly appreciated!

Looking into this and will get back shortly with an answer. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks @dena, please let me know.   You can reach out to me separately, I have at least 10 or so submissions in the past year where I was able to select different Pre-Screens per book to a large order.   I can provide you that support to prove that it worked that way previously.
