  1. I think that was from a couple months ago. This one is still going: ComicConnect - TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (1984-93) #1 - CGC NM/M: 9.8
  2. The claws could definitely be better. But if you're looking for the worst Wolverine cover, look no further than this:
  3. The high sale of a TMNT #1 9.8 1st Print is $245,000. I think the comicconnect sale will meet or exceed this and I'm not surprised the hideous Eastman sketch devalued the book.
  4. It'll be interesting to see what it sells for: Comic Link :: The Online Vintage Comic Book and Comic Art Auction and Exchange
  5. I'm tired of bad comic movies and have less interest in new TV shows. I can't think of one good superhero movie that came out this year, all of the one's I saw were mediocre to below average (Venom, Black Widow, Suicide Squad, Shang-Chi). I'll still give Eternals a try when it's available to stream and I'm looking forward to the upcoming Spider-Man, Morbius, and Batman movies. I've also been disappointed in non-comic movies this year. I was disappointed in Dune and No Time to Die, but I found Free Guy and Old Henry to be enjoyable and disappointingly I still feel that Jungle Cruise and Cruella were more entertaining than any superhero films I saw this year.
  6. I watched it today. I liked the first one, but this one was far less entertaining. The acting, dialogue, and action sequences were all worse than in the first movie. This is the first movie I've seen in theatres in almost two year and despite a great experience with plenty of snacks and an automatic recliner, it didn't enhance the movie enough to give it more than a C.
  7. I made it through the first three episodes before starting to read the series for the first time. After reading about 30 issues, I got 10 minutes into the 4th episode before giving up on the tv show which is an abomination. The personalities of the characters are way off from the comic and they replaced Yorick's wit with extreme whininess.
  8. There's a similar situation being faced by a collector here. At least CGC attempted to do something about it: Graded damaged comics. | CBCS Comics | Page 1 A dilemma. What to do? | CBCS Comics | Page 1 Seems like CGC will take responsibility at least, good luck with getting this resolved.
  9. My god that 9.4 is an eyesore. That 9.6 although overgraded isn't as bad but still...and that 9.0! CGC went through a year or so period where they were overgrading a high percentage of books. They've tightened things up a bit in recent months, but there are thousands of books that were overgraded. I think they were even more lenient with dealer accounts, basically handing out undeserved grades left and right. I've seen my fair share of overgraded CBCS slabs as well, so I wouldn't say one grading company grades more reliably than the other. It's disappointing and any experienced buyer looks at detailed scans of books before purchasing instead of focusing on the grade.
  10. Well that explains why I'm still selling there. That and no one is buying the same slabs cross listed elsewhere. znelson8989 Non-payment after making an offer on a slab that I accepted. Also did not respond to a message asking to request to cancel if they were no longer interested in making the purchase. I cancelled the order per Ebay's policy of waiting 4 days after sending an invoice.
  11. They couldn't have cast someone better than Jason Momoa?
  12. Hahaha, thanks for all the responses, I think I'll pass.
  13. Well that's confusing, we'll see what happens in October.
  14. Has anyone watched a movie in D-Box and if so do you recommend it?
  15. Yes, by the search box there is a drop down, I believe the default is comics. You can change it to sold and do a search there.
  16. I used to have a CBCS 9.0 signed by Jeff Smith that I regrettably sold about a year ago. I was watching this for a few days at ComicConnect out of curiosity and I wasn't planning on bidding, but the price seemed right. I'm keeping this one for my personal collection but I'm not sure if it's best to leave it as is or get it signed and verified by CBCS. Any suggestions? I also don't know if discussing the other guys is even allowed on this forum, but I'm thrilled to have this in my collection again.
  17. Well that explains the expected flop, thanks for mentioning that. I'll have to look up why it's not being released in China.
  18. I'm looking forward to Free Guy as well. If Fast 9, which was hard to watch 10 minutes of, grossed over $700 million worldwide, I'm not sure why they expect Shang Chi to be a disappointment. I expect it to gross at least that much.
  19. Good points, calling him a sellout was out of line. I shouldn't have personally attacked Eastman and should've limited the post to giving my personal opinion about cover sketches instead.
  20. I wasn't aware I was dictating anything, only sharing my opinion on a public forum and questioning if an there is a line an artist shouldn't cross. I understand what the title of my post is, but it seems the vast majority agree the book looks like hell, even if they don't agree with my opinion that there is a point where an artist should refuse a customer's request.
  21. The owners shouldn't care about my opinion. I was only curious if there is a point where an artist should consider a customer request disrespectful to the original artwork. I believe there is, and in this particular instance the line was crossed. I'm not irritated how money was spent on the sketch, I'm slightly irritated that a customer would choose to ruin such a rare comic book and more so irritated that Eastman would do this to the book. I posted to see if others had a similar perspective on the matter. You're right, I should be posting out of curiosity and shouldn't let things like this agitate me, but here we are. This video may shed some light on things:
  22. Not at all. Today hasn't been my day to be honest, minor things are irritating me and for some reason I've decided to be more vocal about them. Over the top sketches and poorly placed signatures have always bothered me, but when it's on a more iconic book, it agitates me even more. I'm not an artist, even though I do sketch an occasional subpar piece of art from time to time, but I question if at some point an artist should be concerned if these things will harm a book aesthetically and consider refusing an owner's request. If anyone knows of a comic artist that would refuse these types of requests please let me know because I'd probably become a big fan of theirs.
