  1. Huh ... not true. Please check out his WWI record of service ... excerpt from the Wikipedia (readers' beware) - "Young Charles de Gaulle chose a military career and spent four years at Saint-Cyr (the French equivalent of the American West Point or the British Sandhurst). Graduating in 1912, he decided to join an infantry regiment rather than an elite corps. During World War I, then-Captain de Gaulle was severely wounded in March 1916 at the gruesome Battle of Verdun and left for dead on the battlefield. He was, however, found and taken prisoner by the Germans. He made five unsuccessful escape attempts, and was put in solitary confinement at Ingolstadt fortress, a retaliation camp, where he encountered another incorrigible — Russian Lieutenant Mikhail Tukhachevsky." So his big thing was to get shot. Followed up by getting captured. I retract my earlier comments. The guy was truly building character for his later snubbing of the British and Americans when he trotted back into France in the mid 40's. But nevermind that. I'm more interested in how Aaron Burr could make the cover. Does it gloss over his slight infamous moment.
  2. Nice book! I also had this reaction with Real Life # 4 - Joan of Arc, Charles DeGaulle, WWI poilu, French Revolution and invading nazis all by Schomburg - Mister DeGaulle only drew his sword to cut the cheese. Talk about fictional funny books. But it does look very nice.
  3. Angle the glare towards the label. I want to see the book.
  4. The whole series is a flirt and burlesque.
  5. Beautiful, and for the time being my new wallpaper.
  6. It's like the artist had some empty space on the cover and just drew spiders...
  7. Fantastic cover! Great looking copy with nice deep colors! This is such a wonderful image, but I'm still trying to figure out how to interpret it. Why are they both looking so mad and determined? Are they girding themselves up to take on the falling leaves? Are they mad because they finished raking only to have to deal with this down pouring of leaves? Inquiring minds want to know. My thought is that leaves are easier to rake if they're on the ground...But no matter what the problem, it's just a great visual I've always assumed that they had finished raking into nice neat piles when all of a sudden the wind scatters the leaves back into a mess. Hence the anger on their faces.
  8. Why do I suddenly want to collect G.I. Jane? It is so awesome to see a great title that I never knew existed.
  9. Sal should just be glad that Colletta didn't ink it.
  10. In general, no they don't. Are their exceptions, sure. I wouldn't have mentioned anything about the couple books he posted here except that he already posted quite a few in the ACG thread with the explicit mention of them being for sale. Nor would I make any comment if Bob used some inventory book to illustrate some point about an artist or comics history. I would prefer that this forum not turn into the marketplace forum as, having visited them on occasion, I believe it would make this forum less interesting. The architect created various "For Sale" forums to support board commerce and to leave other forums primarily commercial free. Well said.
  11. Hello Steve. Yes I did try to get some of the non Obadiah related material redirected into better threads that would be beneficial to more viewers. At worst I was borderline on whether your book was a comic or not. But to think that I was typing the same kinds of posts that other detractors were, is to lump everyone that doesn't toe your particular line into the same group and category. I on occasion threw a wet blanket on the idea that people love Obadiah based upon your continual bumping that thread and then pointing to the page views. Even then you'd be stretching it to imply that I was a pure antagonist. In the same post I was recommending that the number of replies (which were many) was something to be more proud of. (so you see it was sort of positive) And throughout the thread you got better as a poster. (Especially when you weren't admittedly drinking ) In fact you're one of the better posters in this forum outside of that thread in other threads. (Inside the old thread you were awful.. Sorry. ) I was afraid you would take my post wrong. If anything Steve, I want you to post MORE. MORE SCANS MORE TEXT and MORE POSTS. I merely thought you would have been better outside of the old thread. And this thread ain't too shabby either (another positive thingy being said by moi ) However I merely thought and suggested that you would be better off starting a different thread with a title that could get some great viewership. (How can asking you to start a thread be considered bad? It's quite the opposite of "go away Steve" ) Good for you. Yes this is a great place. I've enjoyed my PM's with Bob as well. It was funny... and admittedly I did a double take when I saw it. I'm flabbergasted. As I recall there were a few posters calling for it to be locked. And it was a huge argument...the sheer number of good scans in it probably delayed its demise. I sure had a blast declaring it "completed" And I guess you're holding a grudge about that. It might have flourished had it have gotten off to a better start. But am I reading your post correctly that you say you WOULD have named a thread differently if something hadn't have happened?.... Sure. You are absolutely correct. Feels great to be correct. . I'm a big supporter of rights. And you have the right to call this thread "My vacation slides of the Grand Canyon". And I'll defend you. (I'd be wasting my time, but I'll defend you...for a while) If you've ever used a search engine you may come to appreciate things being labeled accurately. And that's the rub Steve. When you search the Auctions for Obadiah (and we know you do) the last thing you want to see is Spiderman #500. So isn't it in your best interests to have a thread asking specifically for this info on SubMariner? Show me how I'm wrong. I had no idea.... do tell. Of course you may have to search in vain when things aren't titled right but hey.... Finally a shot fired over my shoulder. Thanks for the break in the duel. Oooppss ricocheted Like the McDonalds theme "I'm loving it" I wish there were other threads made by you to choose from. That's what I've been saying. Thank goodness you're not an Ambassador to China. Every helpful gesture would be misconstrued as a declaration of war. I'd tell you to have a nice day, but I don't think my insurance would cover it. I'm really hoping you'll understand all of this. I keep trying cause every now and then even a blind squirrel can find a nut. I'm sure we'd have a great time outside of this forum perhaps at a place where you can get something with 90 Proof while I guzzle a Dr Pepper. Of course we'd need your interpreters to tag along to avoid any miscommunication. (Whenever this is used it's all in jest) Send me a PM
  12. Agreed. For sale items should be in the Marketplace. But don't be too hard on Bob. He's learning.
  13. Here's a tip. And I mean this nicely.. A lot of people were bothered by your last thread with a similiar title. And I know that you talk about NUMEROUS things in one thread but if it's something specific that you are wanting to find out you're not getting into many households. To improve the ratings on your broadcast, I recommend that you create a new thread with a title that asks Seeking Scans of 1st panels/Submariner in MPFW The people that might be able to help you the most aren't going to bother even looking in this thread. Good luck
  14. Then start a thread about it in the Comic Marketplace.
  15. Mica, so ... strategic earrings positioning or not? What I like better is that if you step out the front door you'd better be wearing a parachute! Yeah, hate to be his Newspaper boy.
  16. Mica, so ... strategic earrings positioning or not? I assumed they were straps holding up her dress.
  17. Quite the gun he has. Interesting.... The colors are unbelievable.
  18. And did you check out that Klingon forehead on the left
  19. I'd prefer to be behind a tree or something if I were going to take shots at that bird.
