Couple back from grading . I’m happy with these . I collect on a budget it’s all I can afford . Both of these were raw and submitted . I don’t clean or press any of my golden age stuff . Just something I chose not to do . The flame thrower cover is so cool and violent . I also had issue 18 that came back . Awesome cover as well. -

I think people will pay for a copy in 9.8 regardless . It’s one of the best Turtle covers ever published easily . I don’t think video gamers would pay that money but what do I know . Few years ago I bought this comic for raw for around 80.00 Canadian and nobody game a damn ..... now it’s a diff story , the big question is will it last ? It doesn’t matter to me as I love the comic but it’s def a hot turtle market as we can see in almost all the early high grade books. -

It’s a lot harder to find in high grade . Most turtle books as well know had thick stock paper cover and cheap inner paper . Those covers were unforgiving in showing defects . I think that auction result was low for second print imo . Under 10 copies graded universal blue label since 1988 so I’d say for value it’s def better of the two although I love both covers equally . I have to mention this but the second print also touches gamers for the nostalgia as well so that adds to interest on this book too. Here is a shot of both of mine ... -

Issues that have shot up are high grade 9.8s and extremely low print run second prints . These have been overlooked for years unless a diehard turtle fan. People are noticing that the census numbers are staggering low for 9.8s and paying for beautiful raw books to try and score their own copies for less than what’s being offered out there . As for pressing these are the hardest books to do . They were thicker and heavier stock used so the results are not always there in a press . Spine dents are hard to get out etc. -

I just love finding early 80s TMNt mirage books . I have a little honey hole close to my home where I found that TMNT 1 fifth print raw for $ 40.00 Canadian it graded a 9.8. I went back today and scooped the remaining comics I felt were near mint or better and I’m happy I did. This entire lot cost me a whopping 120.00 Canadian . Happy! -

I wasn’t questioning you . That book was overlooked for years and people didn’t know the significance because they were not being labeled on cgc correctly for years . Heck they didn’t even acknowledge there was Canadian price variant until recently . It’s a big book in turtle history and part of that important 1980s nostalgia. -

I find it hard to believe you don’t know why they are valuable ? First app of Krang, Beebop Rocksteady and colour bandanas. It was undervalued key that took off. That’s it . Selling is totally your decision nobody knows the future on any comic . It’s def great time to make money on them if you paid little for these . -

I agree with all that was stated . If you feel it looks the part I’d send it in . Finding these high grade raw books in the wild is getting tougher to do. -

It’s a tough black cover . If it comes back 9.8 it was worth it . Ultimately it depends on what you’re doing with it the cost of grading , may not yield a big return if it’s just a flip . I’m seeing great numbers on eBay auctions for issues 5-10 in 9.8 but I don’t know how long this will last but generally getting 9.8 is not easy with these early turtle books. -

Well I just received a nice stash of my personal TMNT books I’ve saved over the years from CGC. I felt it was time to get them graded and see what happens . Overall I’m very happy with the results . No clue on value because I’m not selling but I know some of these covers are tough to get . I really wanted the IDW TMNT Eastman variant in 9.8. Its so htf locally and eBay is not an option . Tell me what you kind collectors think , I’d love some feedback . -

Resubmit this TMNT #2?
Subby1938 replied to AmbassadorSlip's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
They are grading turtle books very tough these days I’d hold off until they cool . It may not make a diff but I avoid sending books in to grade or regrade during hot or peak times of popularity . I tend donhet better grades later . -

This book is just a monster now , it introduced a new rogue to the Spiderverse done by the Romitas it’s an absolute classic, homaged a few times and one to watch for moving forward as one of the biggest Spider books in that 1980s era . Only ASM 300 imo competes but issue 238 in grade is much harder to find . I just love the artwork . Issue 239 is just another extension of the goodness from previous one . Only here we get to see the first time Spiderman battles Hobgoblin. Two classic covers of the copper era!! -
It depends on popularity of cover . I have collectors already buggin for NES cover because the nostalgia it brings . Not sure what to make of these . the error / misprint copy is the one I can’t find great data on....
