  1. well, not my cup of tea but each to their own funnily enough, there is a panel in an old Marvelman comic where MM & YM are - erm - engaged in some mid-flight "antics" you're going to ask me to find and scan it in now aren't you...
  2. I completely missed the whole sufunk fiasco. Maybe I should become a mod, so I can see what went down.
  3. I find it immensely sad that they are turning one of the pillars of my childhood into a joke. They, meaning the people who make it.
  4. That is, I think, my favorite. Magnificent.
  5. The aforementioned Rocket Raccoon. If they can do something with him, they can do something with anyone. The problem with Tec #400 is that it started at an unsustainable price to begin with as it was perceived to be hard to find in high grade. As more HG copies have come onto the market the prices have adjusted accordingly. In addition, the Man-Bat is a rather lame character....... With Ra's playing a prominent role in Season 3 of Arrow, it looks like WB/DC will start to feature the character more which will help to increase the value of Batman #232. The book has always been undervalued due to the perceived availability of copies, but they are few and far between with other dealers at the shows up here............ I'd still like to know how you're posting from the future. Answer the question, kimik. And, are the Oilers still in last place in your time. Alberta is for the birds.
  6. That's why there are two 1st appearances in the book, not just one. True. If it's hot because of Jason Todd, then I can see that. If it's hot because of Croc, then this is the wrong book... Todd only appears in two panels, from a distance! Bah! Bah, I say!

  8. Maybe if you just retract this stoopid comment we can talk. That's my opinion. Calling it stupid is not appreciated. Another opinion, you're a real . Your opinion that someone else's opinion is stoopid is ok though? Where did I say anybody's opinion was stupid? I was saying it was lucky for those who had the comic that a movie announcement was made. Do a poll and see how many people bought multiple copies of that comic 9 years ago in anticipation of a movie. How many times have you heard this expression on these boards, "Who saw it coming?" I suspect the answer to your question is :"no one." But that wasn't ever my point. My point was, in 2005, Detective #474 enjoyed a brief fling with hotness, and therefore now had a higher *probability* of making a comeback at some point in the future. If the buying public at some point in time recognized it as special over, say, #473 or #477, and they did, the chances increased that such a book could be popular again someday. And, that day has come. At no point did I say, or imply, that "if you were smart, you would have bought the book 9 years ago in anticipation of a movie", firstly, because that would be silly, and secondly, because 9 years ago, "movie announcements = $$$" were still in the future. Several books that were "once hot, now not" have enjoyed a likewise renaissance in the past few years. New Mutants #87s, you couldn't give away in the late 90's/early 2000's. Same with 98s. Same with Man of Steel #18s. Same with Infinity Gauntlet, and ALL the Starlin 70's stuff (which was hot in the 70's, then dead, then hot again in the early 90's, then dead, now hot again in the 10's.) I bought scads and scads of Starlin Captain Marvels and Warlocks, in high grade, in the early 00's, for $2-$3-$4 each. I think the most I paid for a Strange Tales #180 was $4.50. Now look. That wasn't in anticipation of Gamora being in GOTG, I assure you. It was because the books had a track record, and therefore had a greater *chance* at becoming popular again...same as Tec #474. No. And no one said anything like that. Or, they might be glad that they studied the market, learned how it worked, and reacted accordingly.
  9. Gen 13 1/2 is also a great book. Incredibly tough to find in 9.8, because of the spine. Gen 13 is a great property, and if they ever do anything with it, the sky's the limit. Sure, there were a bazillion blacks printed, but...how many have been thrown out? Probably more than a dozen. The gold black is...well...gold. The only real problem is storage.
  10. This is already happening, my friend. Oops. Shouldn't have sold my VG run of all 7 100 pagers for so cheap.
  11. You want a tip...? Buy Detective #311s. Wait for some sort of "announcement." At worst, you'll have a few extra Detective #311s lying around. And a few 100 dollars lighter. FF #45 FF #36 FF #46 FF #52 Strange Tales #126 Hulk #271 Marvel Preview #7 Marvel Super Heroes #18 New Teen Titans #2 Preacher #1 Sandman #1 DC Comics Presents #49 Batman #417 Micronauts #8 The list goes on of books that had little relative value 2-3-4-5 years ago. This is strange, new territory we're in, but it's also very familiar territory. Everyone's rushing to get the next hot thing. The key to making "money" in comics is to resist the temptation to follow the crowd, to run out and spend money on the next hot thing, and buy what everyone else is not. At the prices that Tec #311 is selling for, you have essentially nothing to lose. It's not like it's a book that is going to plummet to $1 for NM copies after you've spent those hundreds of dollars. You're not likely to see a loss if you HAVE to sell, which is a wonderful aspect of many collectibles. Don't like Tec #311? How about Tec #400? Green Lantern #59? Spidey #101? DC Comics Presents #87? Flash #112? Justice League #1 (1987)? Showcase #79? (Showcase is littered with potential, actually.) Blue Beetle #1? Booster Gold #1? All books that were fairly "hot" at one point, but have settled back down to low levels relative to the non-keys around them. If Legends #3 can "hit"...this crazy market can do anything. Sure, you don't know what will hit, and when...but picking books that were "once hot, now not" is a lot easier than trying to guess what the next Batman Adventures #12 is going to be (if there ever will be another one like that.) You are off by 100 issues with the Tec #311 play. The smart money was accumulating Tec #411 over the past few years before the big jump. Right now is a good time to still be snapping up Tec #405 (tough in high grade and undervalued - 1st League of Assassins) or Batman #232 instead (this one keeps moving up). Buy all of them. Although, I wouldn't be buying Bats #232. But the rest...yes. At the prices they are at? Yes. Snap away. Bats #232 at a discount to GPA is a good buy long term IMHO. That book sells fast at shows, is requested all the time, and is still undervalued even after the gap up over the past year. It was a great buy at its prices 2-3 years from now and will continue to move up. . I think the time to buy Bats 232 was 15 years ago. I don't see it pulling a Rocket Raccoon anytime soon. But how do you know it "was" a great buy 2-3 years from now...? Are you posting from the FUTURE??? The aforementioned Rocket Raccoon. If they can do something with him, they can do something with anyone. I can't believe that dumb book sells for what it does. 2 panels of Jason Todd from a distance, and a shadow Croc? Please. The real book should be Tec #525. Todd appears in more than a couple of panels, and Croc makes a cover appearance, making it both their first full appearances. Same with first Harvey Bullock in Tec #441.
  12. huh? 33° F water... The 33rd degree is the highest level in Freemasonry.

  14. You were in North Korea? -slym Kim Jong says hi. And to expect a knock on your door in 3...2....1....
  15. Ooo...was that a secret Masonic post....? The world may never know......
  16. The best part were the people exploding on contact with the 33° F water.
  17. That is some lovely curly maple right there...
  18. So many things wrong with that trailer. I mean, the point of a crossguard is so that your hand didn't get chopped off by a sliding blade against yours. But, because it "looks cool", they now have to have a lightsaber "crossguard"? Which is sure to do damage if you touch it...? I really hope this isn't lame.
  19. There's a Legends #6 in one of those pictures. That was such a big book for about 20 minutes. First new Justice League!
