  1. There's a frustrated gymnast. Her form is pretty bad, which cheerleaders don't care about.
  2. But how would that help? The issue isn't making sure the label aligns with the outer slab, it's making sure the label aligns with the comic. Yeah, this is why I think they haven't done anything to engineer a solution that at least helps them track potential tampering without needing books submitted for review in every case. They could etch the serial number into the cover of the comic. Or maybe brand the outer cover with a big hot branding iron. It would be just like Sig Series!
  3. CM #33 isn't Thanos' first cover appearance...nor is it even his first "impressive" cover appearance. That honor goes to #28. How cool is that?
  4. Atta boy. Jaybuck=Team Player Good work How many point will the grader knock down for lite top interior tanning. Say I have a NM/MT book but it has top lite interior tanning. Will it come back as a 9.8 or 9.6? Depends on the amount of tanning, how deep it goes through the paper, what the rest of the book looks like, etc. Impossible to answer. 8.5 is top grade for any book with interior tanning. Which is unreasonable.
  5. This. Why all the sturm und drang? No one at CGC graded and/or slabbed this book as an 8.0, obviously. It's an issue, but it's not an issue that CGC created, as the thread title seems to suggest. Why is everyone freaking out?
  6. I have Fan Edition 1 as well as the gold foil variant. SUPER sexy.
  7. Progress? RMA you are a wise dude, and I appreciate your insight always. Oakman-who hopes his grammer and punctuation were correct. You spelled grammar wrong. You spelt, spelled wrong Jim Spelled is perfectly acceptable/correct. Nice try though. Oooo! Old man fight! Old man? I'm still in my 30's!!! Thirties shmirties! You were here almost from the beginning. Gramps. The Poseidon Adventure is on TCM right now. Which one? Nevermind, I don't wanna know.
  8. Out of curiousity where do you obtain the "pre-cut cardboard that fits perfectly"? https://www.bagsunlimited.com/c-342-comic-fillers.aspx I have explored using something similar to this, but I want a 9 x 12 sheet of cardboard and I have yet to find them. If I could I would probably buy a ton just for the sheer convience. I can find close to that size, but I want a full inch all around the book. Papermart. Item 261129. Each "bundle" is $11. FD, Please forgive my ignorance here, but I have looked at those before. Aren't those measurements the wrong way? Unless I am reading that backwards I need a 9W and 12H. It looks they say its 12W by 9H. Rotate it 90°
  9. Four. Two will fit snugly, and you cut down the other two an inch or so, and then put these two outside the first two, so that there's no movement in the envelope, . Unless someone sits on it, or otherwise applies other point pressure, it's pretty impervious, so long as the books are secured solidly in the middle. That's way too much work and wasted time, the boxes I recommended are much better and faster. I suspect not, but ok. Whatever method works for you.
  10. I guess there are better things to spend money on... I suppose. I imagine the 7 or so people looking for this set are trying (and succeeding, mostly) to find them on their own. Once that becomes impossible, people will move on, or look for other sources. It is a wonderful, excellent challenge, with just enough variation to be visually appealing. It is an outstanding happenstance that this, the single most popular comics event in the history of comics, spawned a whole bevy of unintentional rarities that makes the set a terrific modern day challenge...not impossible...but certainly not as easy as just checking eBay. I may have overused the superlatives, but I love how unintentional the whole thing was, and how such things were not just ignored, but actively spurned by the collecting community of the time, and now, 20 years on, that's resulted in such a magnificent collection. Can you tell I'm in love...? And I'm only selling one of them. This and the Knightfall set have reclaimed excitement and challenge out of the doldrums of the market glut. As far as I know, the only books I need to complete all the printings are the MOS white variant (shown above), Superman #73 2nd, MOS #17 2nd, and Action #686 2nd.

  12. Out of curiousity where do you obtain the "pre-cut cardboard that fits perfectly"? Papermart. About $117 shipped for 600 sheets of 8.5 x 11 200# cardboard. I used to cut my own cardboard. My time is worth 20 cents a sheet. I'm getting the 9 x 12s for 26 cents each, and they're just a bit bigger. Yay!
  13. I assume if you sell to someone in the same state you live you may be required to collect and pay sales tax. I thought the same, but he lives in Florida.
  14. Big time...but only super heavy for a few hours. Santa Cruz was flooded. It's been raining today, but lightly. It's amazing to me just how much water can be stored above our heads.
  15. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZAP-1-2nd-printing-1968-Don-Donahue-edition-CGC-9-4-/261698932494?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 I've never, in 17+ years on eBay, heard of "no sales to this specific state" (in this case, California.) I wonder why...
  16. Yeah, those are pretty badass. I worked for Greg Buls in Mesa, AZ in the Summer of 1999. He was getting B&W #1s directly for McFarlane, and selling them... ...for $10 each. I picked up 2-3 and sold them for $25 or so on eBay. He had stacks of them. "But", I thought "they're just reprints. Who would want a reprint?" Same with the chromium #300s. x 2
  17. First Class has a 13 ounce limit. Hence, the post. Voila! The best thing about having your brother on these boards is that he can come and tell everyone what a bonehead you are. Oh ok, So I'm a bone for saying that first class mail has a 13 ounce limit...Looks like I'm not the only bonehead around here .At least I post facts. You're a bone? You're a lot of bones! The "12-13 ounces" in my post should have been the giveaway. When you're already at the limit with one book, it doesn't make much sense to not just ship Priority. With all this money you're making to be able to ship priority, you're probably funding ISIS too. You're such a bonehead.

  19. Speaking of your atmospheric river...did you get drenched? We got a downpour, but it only lasted few a little while. Supposed to get more today/tomorrow/wed, but I don't see it. I hate Southern California.
  20. That's one aware I'll never have to worry about not living up to.
