  1. About 3 weeks to a month before. You would think the insufficiently_thoughtful_person who professes to be so knowledgeable about Star Wars comics would know that? Nice catch. Not sure what I was thinking when I posted that. Actually 6 weeks to be exact...Star Wars #1 began shipping on March 8th, 1977 with a street date of April 12th 1977. The first two issues of Star Wars were out before the movie opened up. Jim Do we have any documentation for that?
  2. PS...why is it the psychotic dooshnozzles who always run around calling everyone else psychotic dooshnozzles...? And is a dooshnozzle anything like a dickweasel?
  3. Sounds like a plan. What could possibly go wrong...?
  4. So, as we near the end of the year, I think you should start a "Best and Worst" thread in CG. You know, Best poster of the year, Worst poster of the year, Best strike of the year, Worst strike of the year, Best thread of the year, Worst thread of the year, Best post of the year, Worst post of the year, Favorite poster, Least Favorite poster, Smartest post, Stupidest post...you know, like that... It would be totally awesome.
  5. There's a turkey eating corn on Shelly's head.
  6. Only 1 post in more than four years? That's just lazy.
  7. I thought this was cute, even if a little sappy. The little blonde girl made my heart absolutely melt when asked if she could sit on the chair.
  8. They're terribly frightened. But I remember when they first came out...$60 each! I ended up buying about 30 of them for $1 each back in the early 00's...
  9. I feel like Methusaleh... Hi Troy....too bad you didn't wait 6 more days, you could have made it a :"one post every decade" thing. Your work is great, I enjoyed it. Thanks!
  10. About 3 weeks to a month before. You would think the insufficiently_thoughtful_person who professes to be so knowledgeable about Star Wars comics would know that? Nice catch. Not sure what I was thinking when I posted that. Late April/First week of May, roughly. With a July cover date. If I remember correctly, Lucas had a rough cut that Chaykin and Thomas got to see in, I want to say December...back when 20th Century was still worried about the incredible flop they were sure was on their hands.
  11. And someone willing to let hot books go for > 10% off eBay price... Maybe that's why buyers offer at those prices -- people sell them for those prices. Oh, well, that seems perfectly reasonable. I can clearly see how wrong I was and have adjusted my thinking on this matter entirelHEYWAITAMINUTE!! I said "20% off or more"! And I said off FMV, not "eBay price." Last time I checked, 85% of FMV was a greater number than 20% or more off FMV. I could be wrong... And it's not the selling at discounted prices that is the problem..it is the presumption that someone will that is. Bit of a distinction, wouldn't you say...? Gotta pay attention to the details, manatee....
  12. It won't. The thing that amazes me the most about this book is it isn't even the first appearance of the character(obviously she originated in the cartoon.) yeah it is kind of amazing the way comic collectors brush aside non-comic appearances. Tell me how to slab a cartoon episode, and I'll get right on it. Don't be dense. It's not a question of slabbing. It's a question of valuation - as in a four figure price for a comic that did NOT introduce her to the world is silly. I get that it's the first comic so it's what comic collectors will go for, but to me there is a significant difference between a first appearance of a character that starts in comics versus a "first comic appearance." The market disagrees with me and that's fine, but I can still think it's silly You're a dope. I was agreeing with you, Moran.

  14. I laughed at that too. Every time I think that show has jumped the shark, they do something to make me want to continue to watch. The joke reminded me of (maybe someone can remember the name of it) some comedy show that featured a family of dinosaurs. Dino suits worn by the actors. The father was a T-Rex. The big asteroid strike never occurred in their reality, so the Dinos had evolved to the same level as humans (sort of). In one episode, their house is destroyed by a rock from space. The T-Rex father argues with the meteor insurance adjuster about it. The adjuster points out that it was a "meteorite" that had struck the house, not a meteor; and, therefore, the claim would not be paid. And if I remember correctly, he even points out that technically the house would have to be orbiting the planet for it to be covered. This one?
  15. Funniest line I've heard on Big Bang in a while: Leonard: "I'm not going to die in an asteroid strike!" Sheldon: "Tell that to every cocky T. Rex that is currently swimming around in your gas tank right now." That just tickled my funny bone.
  16. On a different topic... I am finding it increasingly difficult to even peruse the WTB threads, much less not say anything, to WTB "offers" that are substantially less than current market prices. It's to the point where I don't even look at the whole sub-forum anymore. People...if you need to put out what you want to buy, don't insult people by offering them significantly less than market price. eBay is only 10% at most. Asking for 20% or more off, especially on regularly traded books, is gauche. Better to not list a price at all.
  17. Here's a sample.... The only 9.8 SS that exists (thanks Grails!)
