  1. Exactly! That's what I'm talking about. Does anyone have a copy to post? I love that book! Iconic Americana. there are many great suggestions and covers in this thread, and it got me thinking about which books/covers are seen consistently in print ads either in Overstreet, or other comic collecting type books, grading guides, dealer ads, that sort of thing. sure, you always see the big key books, Action 1, Tec 27, Bat 1, Supes 1, AF15, etc. but those are the KEYS, so naturally they are going to be shown a lot, but what NON-key books get the attention ? I constantly see Superman #14 represented in these ads, it's on the cover of the book store edition of the OS grading guide this past year (38th edition), also on OS comic book grading guide 2nd edition, I remember the 9.2 copy in a CGC ad recently, it's been a statue, poster, clock, refrigerator magnet, pillow case, etc. and most collectors here seem to like it. It's impossible to sum up the GA in one book, because it was so many great and exciting things, but Superman #14 is definitely a candidate for that honor. P.S. I would also put Detective 31, and Supes 1, 11, 17 & 24 in that grouping.
  2. awesome books Mike ! Action #44 was the first GA book I ever bought and kept, (never sold), still have my same copy 15 years later.
  3. one of my favorite Shuster covers Mike, very nice !
  4. does grade really matter much on Extensively restored books ? not to me. Action #1 all the way.
  5. great picture Scrooge ! thanks for posting, I see me a Superman #45 there on the left.
  6. It doesn't matter how anyone else designates a cover, it's how you feel about it. I have a lot of books that should have notations on the label that don't. I agree, I mean, how is this book not noted as "classic" on the label or in Overstreet ? What's even more baffling is how this book hasn't made its way into my collection yet. hey, you already got one.
  7. I see what your saying, and I definitely agree on Supes 14 and 24, but if Action #36 (robot cover) can get the "classic" designation, I don't see why a few well known war covers can't. I don't think it "denotes a familiarity" as much as some other covers, maybe people just really like robots.

  9. I am wondering why some of these early covers are not considered classic in Overstreet.... there's a lot of classic GA covers that aren't noted as such in Overstreet. just one of those things.
  10. man that Supes #100 is awesome, tough book in any grade above 4.0. very nice multi.
  11. Mike, this is just an awesome shot, very nice, good luck in completing the run. where's the Action #1 wrap ?

  18. if your referring to the book I sent you, it should be there today or at the latest tomorrow. it's a sweet copy. (thumbs u I believe he's talking about an eBay purchase. he said WHITE pages, and his "other" eBay purchase that I saw besides the Action 55, has off-white pages, which is what made me think he was talking about my former book. so Mike which book were you talking about ? I don't want to spoil it for Mike, but he did have an eBay purchase with white pages just a few days ago. From the same seller that had the Action you and I PM'd about recently. ah, I see. all has become clear now, man Mike, you've been racking up the GA Actions lately.
