  1. cool books, that Flinch #1 cover is gonna give me nightmares.
  2. look at this photo he actually touched the book !! he went so far as to actually crack it open !! man times have changed....
  3. awesome books Nearmint, you are my teacher,, by the way, I'm goofing off at work too.. shhhhh
  4. awesome book Durden08, love those old Actions and that is one great cover, nice condition too 6.0 off-white pages,,,now this thread is starting to come alive..
  5. thanks Durden08, yeah, you can see a little white from the back cover on the spine, but not much and it's centered well, yeah for awhile, with the current prices, I didn't think I'd ever be able to own a copy of this book. I'm so glad I starting coming to these boards...
  6. I agree with your choices, alot of the "Classic" covers to me do come from the Golden Age,.. Batman #9 is on my short list as well, to me that is a classic cover...
  7. yeah, it says "tiny tear on first 16 pages" which I don't know what CGC considers tiny, but no major tears and the back cover is really nice as well, plus no date stamps, writing, foxing, miswrap, stains, etc... I think the 6.5 fine plus grade is accurate, when I was at the Chicago Con, I saw about 4 copies of #14, 3 of which were restored, and the one unrestored would probably grade out at 3.5/4.0 with a major miswrap and a name written on the cover in red crayon, Metro just sold a Supes #14 6.5 for $2,750.00, I didn't pay anywhere close to that for this one, so to sum up,, I'm happy with it....
  8. sorry, didn't mean to break your brain, I'm sure if you took a vote for classic cover of all time, you'd get thousands of different opinions, however, for my money (outside of key #1's like Action 1, Batman 1, etc.) this issue along with Superman #24 should be in the top 10-15 of all time...
  9. I've already posted this one in the GA thread, but I wanted to post here as well, been wanting this issue for some time now, and thanks to a fellow forum member I now have one, and at a very resonable price as well, 6.5 ow/white pages
  10. This thread has kind of gotten lost in the shuffle, seems the "show us your Detective Comics thread" is thriving, I love Batman, but I couldn't let him have all the fun, so I thought I'd give this Superman thread a shot in the arm with my latest pick up, and a thousand thanks to the fellow forum member who gave me the info leading to my purchase of it... 6.5 ow/white pages
  11. this book has been on my pick up list for a while and when a fellow forum member gave me a tip on where it was being offered for sale, I couldn't pass it up, believe it or not, I ended up paying about $200 above guide, now, does that seem right for such a classic Golden Age Supes book ?? every other time I've seen this book for sale it's usually listed at $1000 or so above current guide,... in case you can't read the CGC label, it's a 6.5 ow/white pages..
  12. Thanks Doiby! At least you can read yours Crack that slab and enjoy it! I should because it's better than a 6.0 I definitely agree !
  13. hey all, just purchased this over the weekend, I almost went for a 9.6 copy, but it was $300 more than this 9.4 copy, plus this one had white pages, the 9.6 copy had off-white-white...this is probably my favorite Joker cover, I love the way Neal Adams draws the Joker...and the whole cover dynamic is very cool...
  14. Dude.. I LOVE that cover... ( Wings #93 ) very nice indeed, and very similar to the other VF+ Metro had at $450 !!! nice book !!!
