  1. nice shot comicdonna, your Action collection is growing by leaps and bounds..
  2. will do Nearmint, I recall you saying you used to own the Church copy, I bet that book was incredible..I really like the red, white and blue color scheme of this issue, it's a nice change from the yellow Action covers that I have. plus it has more of a backround to it than most Action covers.
  3. hey thanks for the kind comments Brian, I've happy with the Superman #32, if I don't get a chance to upgrade , it won't bother me,. it's got great pages, it seems to me that on the #32 the printing registration is off on some of the ones I've seen,. either the blues or reds didn't strike in line correctly,. I feel that this one's printing registration was almost perfect... Metro had another one in the exact same grade, but it had a fair amount of writing on it, so you can guess why I choose this one. on the Action #46, this is probably the closest thing I'll have to knowing what a GA book looked like when bought off the rack back in the 40's, the reds are very deep, and the white logo area is very clean...the only bad thing about this book is that it has me wanting to buy other GA books in this grade range...it's kinda spoiled me. but I'm sure I'll come back to reality when I see the prices on other high grade GA books. but I'm very happy to have this one.
  4. Things have been slow lately on the Action Comics collecting, so I decided to pick up a Superman #32 that I've wanted since I first saw it in the "Superman: from the 30's to the 70's" book, which I had when I was a wee tot. Got it from Metro, didn't pay too much, and it seems to be in decent shape, and the pages are almost completely white very happy with it. plus I can always upgrade some day if I wish too. The other book is an Action #46 that I bought from Bechara at last November's Mid-Ohio Con. I sent it to CGC and it came back Saturday. it's now the highest graded book in my collection and when the CGC census updates, will be the second highest copy of this issue (one currently in 9.0) . and I love those WHITE pages. does anyone know anything about the 9.0 copy ? does it have WHITE pages ??
  5. well, I was about to say that you got a sweet deal if you paid the price that's on the website, I don't know what you paid for it, but either way, it's a nice looking book, I can't see the Sub crease on it. if there is one, it's very faint.
  6. that's a very nice looking 3.0 there Brian,. Great pickup, any chance you'll crack the slab ?
  7. nice books Point Five, I haven't had much luck recently with the GA Actions, nice copies just don't come up that frequently, I've been looking more at GA Supermans lately, I collect both and am trying to fill some issues in of that series. not much luck with the Supermans lately either, as I've been beaten out of a few recent auctions
  8. very nice book Brian, great cover too !! I don't think you can feasibly "overpay" for a Timely, you made a great purchase...
  9. it's a actual issue, it's number 188 Action #188
  10. no problem comicdonna, I was only inspired by the group shots I've seen in prior threads, like Ian's pics, Batman-fan and others..
  11. WOW !! you've all been busy little beavers since I last checked this thread,.some really great stuff everybody,, Zonker you've got a huge collection, love those Flashes, and World's Finest, I've always loved # 7, and love those Blackhawks Aussie !!,,
  12. Have you ever seen metro's booth? yes I did at WW Chicago, and at that time they didn't have an Action # 1 or Supes #1 and a few others of the books that ACME has displayed,..they did have plenty of Bats # 1's though... Metro has some great books, just not all at once, (sometimes),...
  13. Great books ACME ,... see this is what I like about a group shot, seeing all these great books together holds more weight than just seeing any individual book by itself...you wouldn't see a line up like that at a convention..
  14. I feel the same way, I'll take a lower grade UNrestored book anyday over the higher grade restored..you did good.
  15. thanks, I have to agree with others in that it's hard to find the Supes #14 without any color touch, you see them around at conventions, but there almost always restored...I almost bought me a Supes #17 last year at Chicago Con, it was nice and clean with one small piece of tape on the bottom of the spine to hold together a one inch split, and very white pages... but, the printing registration was off, and I got crosseyed when looking at the cover, so I passed. and Durden08 is right the #17 doesn't come up for sale too often. you got a real nice one, congrats !!
  16. cool, congrats, I have a # 14 Supes 14 but don't have a # 17 yet
  17. hey CW, love those Spirits, nice grades on them. and non-sequitur, WOW !!
  18. great books Timulty, so does that "Wheel of death" on # 71actually work when you spin the book around ??
  19. hey Ian, I must say it's nice to have you posting again.
  20. yeah, I was noticing that myself, I just threw mine on my kitchen table and took a picture, but now I'm thinking I need to get some kind of structured shelving units,..great stuff guys.
  21. awesome shots Ian, I remember when you first "completed" your collection, and posted these, I loved it then, and I love it now.. Action 1-10, 'Tec's, All Star's.. just great pics...
