The policy of forbidding competitor books, news, links, and anything else by name has existed since long before CGC was taken over. It's a reasonable policy for a company to hold, in my opinion.
I'm aware. It was dumb then and it's dumb now. If you're stifling the speech and opinions of others to protect someone giving you money, it doesn't matter your reasoning. You're the bad guy. Always.

You have been repeatedly going into several threads with the sole intent to bash CGC. This disrupts the natural conversations in threads. I am going to put this one and only warning right here, that you are walking on this ice. I want it to stop right now, or I will make it stop.
THE PHILOSOPHY USED TO MODERATE THESE BOARDS
CGC encourages free thinking and open discussion of the comic book collecting hobby among users of the Boards, including constructive criticism. CGC values its members and Boards users as part of a joint effort to protect and improve the collectibles market. Nonetheless, while diverse views and alternative perspectives are welcome here, the Boards are not the place for negative or persistent agendas against other users or CGC’s services.

Good Lord, the whining and tantrums over a simple rule.
A rule based on nothing but the insecurities of the owners. Can you imagine if Facebook banned everyone that mentioned Twitter? It's a small, pathetic way to run a business.

Your books look much better in Mylar and there is no stupid number to obsess over.
Gotta disagree with you here. I think they look great in the slabs and I love the fact that the labels have various bits of info like the publisher and year, artists, etc
That being said, CGC is still on my poop list for now

That tells me that you received someone else's ASM 300 slab. The book is yours but they might have switched the book with the slab somehow.
That has happened before. Someone recently posted that it happened with the Marv Wolfman signing but to a far more extreme degree. He received two copies of the Titans 2 after only sending in one.
The thing is that the slab and certification were the same. He received someone else's book in a duplicate slab of his comic.
If anyone else saw that, any update on how CGC was sorting that mess out?
They switched the notes somewhere in the process with another book I think, because the book is 5x signed and all of that info was accurate on the label

I haven't been on the modern game for a while, but this inconsistency with them isn't anything new. Six or seven years ago I sent in an ASM 300 which I thought was a 9.0 but it came back a 6.0 with all kinds of flaws listed that were clearly not on the book. Sent it back to be regraded, no pressing....came back an 8.5

@CGC Mike so can we expect CGC to issue a statement walking back their position on the matter. You literally have Marvel telling retailers that such actions are not permitted. Seriously, I don't mind when people do something wrong, but I do mind when they double down on their idiocy in the face of mounting support disproving them. How f'in hard is it for a company to swallow it's pride and do the ethical thing?
(And before anyone responds, it was a rhetorical question. I have every expectation that CGC will bury their head in the sand.)

I'm a huge fan of the books, but just could not get into the show. So much of the casting was just....off.
Don't like Morpheus's design or casting. They leaned too heavy into the emo look. He looks like he just needs a guitar, a studded belt, and some teary mascara streaks.
Lucifer was also pretty bad. I don't get the appeal of Gwendolyn Christie for this role. If you're going with a woman, I don't think she was the right choice. She's not androgynous at all. Someone like Tilda Swinton would have been a MUCH better choice.
Lucienne bothers me too. The character was originally a crotchety, creepy old guy. Now they made the character a pretty, polite younger lady.
But hey, according to Gaiman I'm just a racist or dummy that doesn't get it.
The show so just doesn't flow well either. And on top of all that, the production seems....I dunno....cheap or poorly done? And what's up with the aspect ratio? Everything is stretched out too tall?

They would manage. CGC ceased caring about vintage comic dealers years ago. Their money train is fed by the legions of people submitting moderns in quantity, helped along by hybebeasts and "influencers" (that word makes me throw up in my mouth a little).
Someone on a card forum said that nearly HALF of PSA's basketball subs are from cards made in the last two years. It would not shock me if comics had similar numbers.
I forget where it was mentioned, but CGC receives 30,000-40,000 new submissions every WEEK. Their money train is absolutely 90% new modern subs

Does anyone else think that Clayton Crain's days of being an artist for Marvel are over?
He's definitely trying to lay low, he just cancelled his appearance at Boston with Black Flag

There's no "risk" for bidding on ebay and not paying, unfortunately. They will just get an "unpaid item" strike against their account with zero recourse. And you can have as many ebay accounts as you want as long as you have spare email addresses.
Though I personally have no problem with trolls over bidding these auctions

I have just been trolling this thread for the past couple of days, and am flabbergasted. Not much more I could add that others haven't already said but the prices of raws still on ebay for auction have gone nuclear...WTF!
There are BIN's sitting at $750 while 3 auctions are soaring upwards of $25K.
The out of control auction prices is likely a coordinated effort to way overbid the price on the books and keep people from buying them while sticking it to the seller.
Not like I would ever do something like that.......

If Marvel does send a "cease and desist" to Black Flag citing copyright or some other issue (breach of contract, I have no idea) and the other ones get pulled, if the PUBLISHER of the actual comic forces that, what is CGC's stance on these frakenbooks then?

No, but the blast zone from this mess seems to keep getting bigger. Don’t know what financial incentives are from this partnership, but if eBay gets dragged into it, you’d think they’d rethink the arrangement as they try to weed out counterfeits on their site.
The partnership is supposed to prevent counterfeit items, but instead CGC placed a counterfeit in a verified authentic universal slab.
This is the only thing that leads me to believe we might actually see some kind of retraction from CGC. They're a large company, but they ain't sh*t compared to Ebay. If they screw around too much and get on Ebay's bad side with actively approving and grading counterfeit/bootleg books, there will be consequences for CGC (hopefully).

You guys did something SO colossally stupid that the entire collecting community is in an uproar, you personally basically told us all to bend over and take it, and your competitors are openly blasting your decision.....and you expect us not to mention it?
Get real.

I think the market has changed and they've adapted. Modern variants keep the lights on. 🤷♂️
This.
As long as CGC has an endless stream of modern variants giving them 30,000-40,000 books to grade per week they don't have to care about the actual community at all.

And I'm guessing every single person on this forum would sell out for millions of dollars and most likely less
Sell out.
They were already making millions of dollars just by owning CGC, it's been an extremely profitable company for a long time now or the wouldn't have got the offer that they got. They also could have very easily sold just enough to retain a controlling share so they could still make sure the company retained it's original goal of providing a valuable service to the community while still pocketing a sizeable chunk of change. I'm sure a lot of people would have done the same, and yes, those people would also be sellouts.
I, personally, am from the camp where some things mean more to me than money, especially when the buyer is a large corporation (and double especially when you're already millionaires like the previous owners). Prime example, I live in a small mountain community where we've all made somewhat of a pact with each other and local realtors to take lesser offers from individual/family buyers if we decide to sell our homes because the surrounding communities are being bought up and ruined by large holding corporations like Blackrock and BlackStone who roll in throwing wads of cash around. If you sell something to either of those companies, you are just greedy and soulless
