Well the tie breaker round ended early when the top 4 submitted their grades today. All grades being in, the grades of the tiebreaker books were revealed. A beautiful copy of Flash 133 and a rare example of an early Flash above 9.0! We all know how rare those early high grade Flash books are! Congratulations to @TheGeneral for getting the lowest score in the contest! 4 rounds of 5 books each. The top 2 players tied with the low, low score of just 18 points! (For comparison, my score was 23 putting me tied with others for 6th place.) Truly amazing, averaging less than 5 points per round! Each point was gained when we missed a comic by one grade, 2 points if you were off by 2 grades and so on. If you guessed correctly you earned 0 points for that book.

Congratulations to you all! Truly impressive scores for these 4 and the top 3!!!

I could see maybe a 4.0? So... but the old argument of "if you were selling it raw could you stand in front of your customer and say this is a 4.5? I'm pricing it as if it were a 4.5." And there in lies the value of the CGC grade. So important!

Thank you for this! I remember you posted something similar after the last contest. This time I did the math and as suspected I am grading too strict and need to loosen things up a bit to get closer. But to get closer we need practice and the experience of seeing a book before and after. So for those of us that don't send in dozens of books a month, this contest is the only way to get those comparisons.

So after these 3 contests of 4 rounds each it appears that to be in contention for the top 3 spots, we will have to sharpen our skills and average less than 5 points per round. Quite the challenge but I like it! I only managed to hit 5 or less 2 out of the 4 rounds. So yep, I need to sharpen my skills.

Congratulations to the top 4! Truly a tough and challenging contest! Cant wait to see the tie breaker books! It will be a battle royal of the Titans of Summer!

Very challenging books! I needed the challenge, I always slowly revert back to grading harsher - without these contests to keep me sharp my grading skills slip.

For the Adventure comic graded at 7.0 then look at the Iron Man at 7.5 - how do they match up in your eyes? I just took a second look at them and in some ways the Adventure looks better?

Here's how I graded them: Underworld 3.5 is 4.5 - that back cover was more than dirty to me I graded it hard for that. Plus staple tears? Adventure 7.0 is 7.0 ASM 9.4 is 9.0 This book looked really 9.2/9.4ish to me? Nice copy! Was there something I missed? Oh yeah the light pencil marks. Ok you got me, I went back and forth on that when grading it. Iron Man 7.0 is 7.5 I could go with 7.5 New Mutants 9.6 is 9.6

I graded it as 9.4 as well. Spider-Man Comics always a curse for a Flash Fan

I grew up on these cartoons so that voice is ingrained in my subconscious. I put the actor and face to the voice one night watching Mary Tyler Moore with my family. I was probably 8 at the time and said, "hey that guy sounds familiar! He's the guy from Super Friends!"

He was the narrator for all DC cartoons in the 60's and 70's - that's how I will always remember him as: "Meanwhile in the Hall of Justice..."
