  1. What a crucial time for comics. These 2 great men working at the same time and just in time too!
  2. Happy Holidays Flash Fans! Share your favorite Flash/Holiday themed comic or picture!
  3. If it weren't for Julie and the success of Flash and the Justice League Stan Lee would have never had been given the assignment to come up with a group hero title (FF#1) instead he would have quit Marvel and its likely comics would have been non existent by 1962-63.
  4. Speaking of Showcase, here's a video. You may have seen it already but just in case take a look...
  5. Very nice looking copy! Maybe one day I will upgrade mine but will have to put funds into a SC 8 first, then try to find some part of a SC 4
  6. Thanks John - My father in law's childhood friend was a Spidey fan. During the Vietnam war the the Spidey fan signed up and or got drafted I'm not sure about that detail while my father in law stayed home and went to college. We found out last year that one of his last letters home was to Stan and got printed in this issue. He did not make it home from the war K.I.A. I wanted to see if I could get a copy even a facsimile edition for him for Christmas.
  7. You got a very nice looking Flash collection there! Thanks for sharing!
  8. Very happy day for this Flash collector!!! How may dancing bananas do you think this gets?
  9. And now this: So happy to have this copy! It fits right into my 3rd tier collection of Flash Comics! My home is always open to wayward and abused Flash Comics. My boarding house takes them all in with love! My newest edition comes incomplete but I love that deep purple cover! (Thanks Julie for all that research on how purple and gorillas sell comics. Flash took advantage of both, just not at the same time. Although... I bet the thought of a purple gorilla just may have crossed his mind back in the day Purple Grodd? Think about it for a moment) I now own 2 of the 4 Showcase issues. Terry once told me in a moment of doubt: "One day I'm sure you will get them all". Thanks for giving this Flash fan some hope. Now I am half the way there
  10. Hello Spider-Man Fans! I am reaching out to you for some help in finding a reprint (something affordable) of this issue of SM #50. I am looking for a reprint/facsimile that includes the letters to the editor. Do any of you know of such an edition? Does the Marvel Tales #190 include the letters, or is it just a reprint of the story? Any help, info or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. That being said if the cover you found matches the inside it can be considered complete and can be graded as a complete copy with a detached cover and first wrap. Man what a find! Classic Kirby art and Story by Stan the Man himself! Congratulations!
  12. There is a thread for just this kind of question! https://boards.cgccomics.com/forum/42-hey-buddy-can-you-spare-a-grade/
  13. What do you Flash fans think about the movie? Will it ever be released? Should it be scrapped? Could it effect comic sales for out beloved character? It was supposed to come out in the Summer of 2020 as I recall ? Very sad for us Flash Fans.
  14. You do have an amazing collection of Showcase books Terry! Multiple copies of each as well as contemporary international reprints. The most extensive collection that I know of. Thanks as always of sharing them with us as well as your expert knowledge. Truly admired and valued contributor to this thread!
  15. The prices are very steep for these Showcase issues! Very steep indeed. Terry and I had a conversation a few years ago about my dilemma. I was on the verge of completing the Silver Age run but confided in him that I feared I may never be able to afford any of these these first appearances. Thank you for encouraging me Terry! I did manage to obtain a #13 with large chunks out of the cover. Fortunately Flash was all there and I am thrilled to have it! I am trying to go after an incomplete #14 with a beautiful cover, so I may end up with 2 of the 4 by the end of the year! I had to pass on a #8 a few years ago in Fair condition (water damage). Even in Fair condition at $700 it was out of reach. But I like the idea of maybe, just maybe finding some incomplete copies of these books. I would be thrilled to have them!
  16. This would probably grade a 7.0 maybe 7.5? Certainly higher than a 6.0(Fine) by todays standards.@grendelbo, @Batman Fett @frozentundraguy, @Funnybooks and anyone else who wants to take a stab at it. Just for fun and calibration
  17. I totally wanted to give it a 5.0 especially being a Flash fan and all. But that chew or damage to the bottom left, the inch long staple tear and the eraser taken to the logo!? All of that pushed me to a 4.5. Notes taken, recalibrating, CGC is really redefining the "Fine" category for me. In the old days, before the grading guides Fine was a much finer category . And I think all those many years of grading that way are just hardwired into me. I have got to rewire. And its nice to know that books from that era can be considered Fine even with some pretty significant defects. I like it but its just tough to fight old habits and requires constant calibration. That is why I am so passionate about these contests. Does anyone else out there remember when Fine was more like todays VF/NM?
  18. Great contest! Thank you @frozentundraguy! I had a blast! Congratulations to the top tier! I will have to take a closer look and these 5's and 5.5's and recalibrate.
  19. Grouping results will come out later tonight. I am out for the evening. Congratulations to everyone? FTG if you ever decide to get rid of that Flash 81 you know who to reah out to.
  20. Well this is sad news indeed, very sorry to hear this but thank you so much for sharing. I avoid social media and would not have heard about this for weeks otherwise.
  21. Agreed, very nice copy of an iconic book and at that grade it would have been affordable. Ahhh....Some day I will have to go after a Schomburg cover for my collection.
  22. I believe round 3 will have 3 books in it! Did we ever get the reveal scans? Let's see those beautiful books in their holders Frozen Tundra
