The reality is, Aquaman 2 failed - just as The Marvels, The Flash, Black Adam, Justice League Part 1 and BvS all failed as well.

This reminds me of how the media was always lumping in Shazam 1 with Aquaman 1....referring to them as resounding successes.  Even though A1 tripled S1's box office.

Now you're lumping in A2 with movies it beat, even doubled....despite all the others getting media hype, advertising, grand opening premieres, and 90% positive reviews during the first week to help them along.

For a year where comic book movies are having to really push to prove themselves, these two billion-dollar solo sequels seem to differ with their critic ratings.

All the numbers are obviously lies.

LOL like it's a coincidence that the movies the media praises start out high on Rotten Tomatoes...and then go down after 2 weeks of release if the wind blows wrong.

    Etc., etc.

I 100% knew ahead of time for an absolute fact that the media would love Blue Beetle, Ezra's Flash, Robbie's Quinn, The Marvels...and hate Aquaman 2.

It wasn't implied - it was flat-out said.

It had a normal P&A budget of ~$100M.

It's 2024.  Things are different now.

The big movie studios don't make their money from the box office and giving the people what they want.

Aquaman 2 is a product from a few years ago...and we know how the superhero game is obsessive...A2 was targeted for destruction for over a year.

LOL never in history has the media trumpeted quotes & misquotes from the star of a big movie that he's done and doesn't care about the movie.  Lies & lies & lies about audiences walking out of test screenings...with ZERO pushback from Gunn or anyone.  No premiere.  Only 1 YouTube ad that didn't get promoted.

Not to mention how the reviews are such blatant lies.  Conservative sites all lied for rage-clicks.  While saying Godzilla is a good movie.

Kind of amazing that Wonka's only been out a week longer than Aquaman but is running 63% ahead of it domestically.

And yesterday Wonka pulled in nearly 50% more than Aquaman did.

At $512M, Wonka is considered a huge success.  90% RT score its first couple weeks to help push it along...as I predicted.  I predicted that every superhero movie preceding Aquaman 2 would be at 80-90%...and every movie going up against A2 would be at 80-90% (like Color Purple, 86%)...and of course I was right.

A2 is considered a huge flop at $379M currently.  Even though it had no advertising budget.

Running at 30% of Aquaman and this fluffer is talking about legs 😂

It's got legs...considering how the media despises it and bashes it 24/7 for the last year.  While heaping love on every movie going against it.  And heaping love on every other superhero movie.  And how there was no advertising, no premiere event...nothing.

hey, watch Aquaflop2 pass Black Adam easily on its way to $1.4B

I believe we've plumbed the box office depths and reached the bottom of the Mariana trench

I know it's not saying much...but A2 will obviously pass Black Adam easily.

What if the media would have hyped up A2 ?

And can you imagine the media trashing Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Blue Beetle, Flash, Shazam, Black Adam, The Marvels, The Batman for a year...saying what utter garbage they are LOL ?  And saying what absolute trash Superman Legacy is going to be.

How to Lie With Statistics, an example.

    ...

Put another way, basically no chance the international take for this ultimately matches Black Adam's $225 million.

The media is publishing every statistic to make Aquaman 2 look as bad as possible.

But it's clearly going to pass Black Adam easily.

Just finished and got home before heavy traffic.

I've read a few reviews that noted Arthur cracks jokes after the death of a key character in his universe. I don't know what those people watched, as they were dead wrong.

      Reveal hidden contents

More than a few noted Arthur's father is killed by Black Manta, to which later on he jokes throughout the movie to overcome his loss. One problem: his father never dies in the movie.

My theater was halfway full, which surprised me due to the excessive critical disdain for this film. And people were actually getting into some of the action scenes and part of the comedy lines.

I thought it was a decent adventure/action film. Not one I may rush back to rewatch one day quickly. But the partnership between Aquaman and Orm to take on Black Manta (who goes totally crazy in his quest to revenge his father's death) actually worked. To include the person that had the most influence on the both of them to strongly encourage they figure out how best to support one another. Though the world threat messaging got a little thick at times - though it fit into the antagonist goals why this was happening.

For me, I'd give it a 7.0/10 overall.

It's blatant LYING, like I said.

Reviewers who never mention politics...I saw 1 guy - I'll say who, Tyrone Magnus - pretending to be passed-out for the first 3 minutes of his review video...and then heavy breathing saying how he never notices politics, but Aquaman 2 was SO horribly preachy leftist about global warming that even he couldn't stand it.

Blatant LYING.  Trying SO HARD to get people to not watch it.  And everyone in the comments agreed like sheep.

Obviously the truth is...the media DESPISES the fact that the global warming is purposely done by Black Manta with ancient Atlantean fuel...and not by us normal humans.

In ANY OTHER movie...the evil global warming villain would be a normal businessman.

Yes, there is a difference.  The media seemes much more interest in promoting, protecting, and deflecting criticism of the Marvels.  With that said, how much of that is that Aquaman 2 has had a full year of negative press, and the performance is just seen as inevitable, so they have no need or desire to defend it.  In addition DCEU to a large extent has already been written off as a failure.  They are just now coming to terms with the decline in the MCU, which was a media darling.

Yeah.  The year of media trashing of Aquaman 2 was a first.  It's like they laid down the law...a stand.  If anyone dared to promote it...they'd be smeared very badly.  Probably with a court accusation dug up from somewhere.  It was seriously that bad.  The media is not happy about all their favorites failing.

Aquaman 2 is deserving of all the love that the Forum showed The Marvels before it.  But I'm not yet seeing the same sociological breakdown.  hm

You don't see the difference in the media??

Or see the difference in the director & 3 leads??

I would read the rest of what I posted. It may help.

Preferring Marvel...isn't an acceptable answer either.

I won't mention CGC again...if...you at least post a reply that doesn't say I'm wrong.  About the media (and I mean all of them) absolutely despising & burying Aquaman 2.

Loved the first one, saw it twice in theater and many times at home.
That said, walked out of this one.  Once that singing special edition alien showed up, had to leave. It just felt cheesy and pretty lame story…didn’t care for the big ship taking out Atlantis all the sudden and the crew with black manta was awful.

    thumbs down.

That was a 1-second freeze-frame.  Everyone in the theater I was in laughed.

    Agreed!

Shareholders have the right to be very very pissed! Gunn needed to keep his big gob shut until early Jan 2024. Zaslov also to blame for not reigning him in.  Shareholders and the board will now need pound or 2 of flesh...If Gunn fails to produce a HUGE revenue generator from the get-go seems like he's whom the TWD Board will target. They may very well be sharpening their axes...

P.S. Reasons aside, fact is; Having been employed by TWD the entirety of this year, the only studio Gunn actually made money for in 2023 was Disney!

It's100% obvious that box-office revenue isn't how Disney (and spreading) gets paid for their movies.

That's like saying Congressmen geniusly saved up their $74k salary and brilliantly bought an Action #1 NR MINT in the 80's.  Or discovered the Church collection.

If you're looking to make a profit, you could divest yourself of traditional American comics and start buying the early/rare/important manga-style comics.

I'm fascinated by first mentions & first images of characters that pre-date comics.  In comic strips. Or better yet...in very old books.

I feel about this like how I felt in 1990 when I first looked at the Overstreet Price Guide.  Fascinating...but impossible to actually know or find what's actually out there existing.

Maybe a business idea is a website for this.
