At least you moved on from Ezra Miller's sexual preference, and now it is about the character.

Meanwhile, he made for a solid big character redemption in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Without him, the Mother Boxes would have destroyed the world. And thwarted the Justice League's chances to defeat Steppenwolf.

Hey...the Flash is a Top-10 all-time superhero easily.  And I was about to say...you don't have to go by my prediction.  Go by the media prediction.  The media hyped up Harley Quinn, WW 84, both Shazams...they say WW 1 is the greatest ever ($750M worldwide is okay).  And they predicted that Aquaman would be buried by Mary Poppins and Transformers and the rest.

And they're GOING OVER-THE-TOP HARD on how Aquaman 2 is absolutely terrible...which means it's likely to go well over #1's $1.15B.

    And why is that?

Harley Quinn, WW 84, & both Shazam movies flopped because general audiences don't want to see that.

Aquaman succeeded because he's a basic well-known classic superhero...and Momoa is a good fit.

DC should have reminded everyone who The Flash is...their classic speedster...and cast a track star to play him.

But even if you don't know about Ezra Miller...everyone can tell that something is off about a pale jaw with bright red lips sticking out of the costume...and all the gimmicks trying to distract attention away from the main character.

  3. I swear...people believe what they're spoon-fed.  Media stories are still saying Harley Quinn is an Academy Award performance...pre-release 'rumors' were that WW 2 and Shazam 2 are fantastic...and of course Aquaman 2 with jacked Momoa, jacked Wilson, and jacked Mateen II sucks LOL.

Dead end movie with Amber Turd in it, yeah, I pass.

Momoa, Wilson, and Mateen are going to bring back the voltage. Day 1 of filming...Momoa and Mateen knew they were both ready...but then Wilson shows up on set even more jacked than them...and they're like "oh, it's gonna be like that"...

It's going to be night-and-day compared to Quinn, Woman 2, Muscle Suit 2, The Twilight Batman wimpy, totally wimpy Flash and Blue Beetle...

The reason they all flopped is because people want to see badasses...not wimps.  DESPITE what the media says.

I'm normally only on the Golden Age forum.  A couple times on the Newbie forum to try to say something that's helpful.

I'm biased towards the GA...but I honestly think it stinks and the movie will flop by making the Blue Beetle an overly modernized young guy.  Look at his first appearance, which is awesome...he can be Hispanic...but make him a swashbuckling blue superhero version of Zorro...with a pistol.

between mcu phase 4 and forward [other than spidey] and the expected lameness from d.c., we are most definitely NOT in the golden age of comic films.   very sad state of affairs.  maybe ezra will put it all straight.  lot of pressure on him them.

Hollywood reporters want us to believe that Ezra Miller is setting things straight and that Jason Momoa is out to sea.

Hollywood reporters are noting the screen tests have been going badly at the last screening some walked out. Which they noted that never happens.

    :(

This is a good sign for Aquaman 2.  They're worried that it's going to blow their favorites out of the water.

They said Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman 2, The Batman, Batgirl, Shazam 2, Flash, and Blue Beetle are fantastic.

  8. Newbies...this is a great forum for info.  And fun.  But to make big money...you have to PREDICT what popular opinion will be in the future.  You won't score big by just following popular opinion.

Like in this case...the ship has long since sailed on trying to make money by pressing up comics.  For the past 10 years, every comic in the major auctions is gone over with a fine-toothed-comb beforehand to see if it can be pressed up.

  9. If I had $200K+ to spend...I wouldn't buy a comic that is available every month and was graded recently and could have been cleaned & pressed up.  Without a thorough investigation.

Especially when the majority says it's great...that means it's overrated.

The biggest gainers come as a 'surprise'...like what comic or item is just as good but not many are talking about it...

Guys, I used to laugh at PG books, and Incomplete books, but I suddenly have a responsibility I am not prepared for.  Please, help the future of this sad but historic piece of our past.  I need guidance, honestly.  I’m not going to pretend to be King of the Hill.  I love comics but this is beyond experience.  Please, if one of the really experienced admins or someone with a solid past with this type of book.  Check my stats, I’m not brand new, and I participate, but not in this sandbox. .  Any practical advice will be greatly appreciated.  I’m talking storage, condition issues (it pleasantly smells of maple syrup, which is what seems to have spilled on it), should they be split, submitted,  etc.

    Thanks in advance.

I think I know what you mean.  Me...every so often I just post what I'm thinking...let it all hang out.

I don't like saying my business too often for some reason...but why not...I bought Whitney Houston's current valid passport after she died for $15K.

In the future, I think current valid passports & driver's licenses will be the Church Copy First Appearances of celebrities.

My advice is to keep your eyes open, trust your own judgement, and try to predict what will be the next things to skyrocket in value in the future.  There are many opportunities.

I could have bought it, but then I would have owned an Aquaman comic.  And there are some things even I won't do for money.

Hey at least I'm pretty up-front in disclosing my business...something we Golden Ager's don't like to do.  And all comic book collectors are very biased...we all admit that, right lol?

And I really do try to give good advice to newbies and to everyone.

That being said...I was actually referring to Whiz Comics #2(#1) CGC 6.0.  There was talk about it on here in 2011 before & after it sold.  Anyone on here could have bought it for $30K.  But it was entered into auction on ComicConnect (only 10% fee) and sold for $176K.

  12. My advice is to put your own thinking above the current market trends.  And above what others say.

Golden Age keys are real (not manufactured gimmick) collectibles...and far more rare than most other collectibles.  And you can predict what should be desirable.

As for what could be the next big thing...my prediction is current valid driver's licenses & passports of deceased celebrities.  They're like the rookie cards of celebrities.

  13. Too many to mention.  And I know for a fact that everyone on this board...long-timers over the last well even only since 2011...I was involved in a situation where everyone here was wrong.  Everyone here could have bought a comic for $30K and sold it 2 months later for 6X that.

I remember when AF 15's in 8.0 were going for $15K...and one appeared on eBay for $10K...I tried to get the $ together but I didn't.

I remember telling my mom that she should trust me and buy an Action 1 5.0 for $300K...asking price that can be talked down.

I was the high internet bidder (about $35K) for the MPFW #1 Pay Copy...I thought I had it...but a live bidder got it for $43K.

ChillMan, which copy of MPFW do you own, the 5.5 copy?

I've admitted my biases at times on here.  Most comic collectors are very biased...lol it's all good and fun.  But no, I don't own any MPFW.

But I think I'm consistent.  I've always favored true first appearances...and I favor Golden Age comics, true collectibles...way over most other things that everyone tries to say are so great.  So if you're in this forum, you're on the right track.  Prices are finally starting to skyrocket to about a tenth of what they should be...but there are still a few opportunities...

As an example of my consistency...believe it or not, but would I lie about this? - call and ask Heritage if you want LOL - I was the high internet bidder for the MPFW Pay Copy.  I can't remember if my bid was upper-20's or lower-30's...but I got outbid substantially in the end - $43K.

There is no logic there at all.  Scarcity and rarity don't equal value.  $20M? MPFW will never be worth more than an Action 1.  You seem to enjoy huffing and puffing.

Subby (like Aquaman) is a bit player compared to Wolverine's present popularity.  Its all about supply and demand. Demand is very high for Wolverine in extremely high grades.  CGC has made the spread between the highest copy and those below much much wider for comics which are not at all scarce or rare..

Having said that, I think the top MPFW would bring a strong price well above $100K.

That's like saying a Jose Canseco rookie card is worth more than a Honus Wagner.
