I could not agree more.  I remember when this poster named Big Moov shared these tidbits back in 2015:

Here we are seven years later, no MF 73 has ever sold for more than what, $150K?  Am I right?  I know a 7.5 and 8.0 barely topped $100K.  A 9.0 is rumored to have hit $140K. Are you aware of some big MF 73 sale I've missed?  If anyone is, it should be you.

Meanwhile, the MH Superman 1 8.5 (highest graded) just sold for $5.3M.  An Action 1 8.5 (4th best at most) has hit $3.25M. Heck, even a lowly Batman 1 8.0 has sold for $1.44M.  And a 9.4 for $2.22M.

That is a heck of a lot more than a 4x multiplier (or 3x or 2x) for Superman and Batman over "Aquaman and Green Arrow put together" in similar grades.

And that's not even raising the issue of how many multiples the MH Action 1 or Allentown D27 would get over the MH MF 73 9.4. (I'm guessing 10x at least).  And that's post hitting the bullseye with Arrow on tv and the cresting of the wave with Aquaman movie.

So, yeah, I've seen some bad advice on this site.

What was Superman #1 CGC 8.0 selling for 7 years ago?

I never said my predictions are always correct.  I said that the advice on here rarely predicts the huge bump ups in value...especially if it's something we don't own.

Recently I posted on here that the very top comics should be worth $20M+...judging by the recent sales of sports cards.

    I guess that's your opinion

Ok without me even trying to re-hash the past....let me simply put my money where my mouth is and give you my top investment picks:

For newbies....items that might still be possible to throw down 20% on and figure out a way to get it:

More Fun Comics #31....first printed image of Superman.

Human Torch #3(#2)....first printed image of Captain America.

The Flash and Thrill ashcans.... first Captain Marvel.

Any pre-first-appearances.  And the best conditioned first appearances of lesser GA characters.

Current valid drivers licences and passports of famous people when they died.  I predict that these will be the 'rookie cards' of celebrities in the future.

The imformation, was good to get .being  a new person in the comics industries my learning curve is still going on and will always continiously  learn about this industries  everyone can learn new things about the industries .

Hello.  I honestly like to give newbies advice.  And I will if you want.  But for now just let me say, in regards to your comment....

This board is great for information.  And helpful; you can ask anything and get good info.  Good guys on here.  And it's fun !!

But you will not get good investing advice on here.  Yes comics in general are a good investment.  But as for which comics will go way up and how things will shape up in the future, or what certain comics should be worth....most advice and opinions here are very bad.  So my general advice is....use your own judgement.  Compare comics to sports cards and other collectibles and make your own predictions.

I think that is the backstory for the Mile High pedigree.  The story of Edgar Church is somewhat depressing and uninspiring.  But the story of how Chuck Rozanski transformed comic collecting is a fascinating part of comic collecting history.  Which is why, for me, the Mile High pedigree will always be that, not Church.

That's the most ridiculous thing that I have ever heard.

I’ve heard two things regarding the Church/MH copy of AA #16.

    1. It’s now owned by Steve Borock.
    2. Rose Verzyl still has possession of it.

    Can anyone confirm either one?

I haven't heard any news or rumors on it for 15 years.  Which makes it more legendary.  Last I heard 15 years ago was that Mr. Verzyl turned down a million dollar offer.

The dentist and his son must be happy.  The top four books he owns might just be $20M in value based on a sale like this.

Each.  I said this a few months ago.  I posted on here that the top comics must be worth $20M+.  After seeing that 1 of 20 PSA 9 Mantles (3 are in 10) sold for $5M.  Or was it $10M...it's going up so fast that I forgot.  And that some brand new sports cards are selling for $3M+.

The clear single-best-existing Church copies of AA-16, Flash-1, and MF-73 should be worth $10M+.

If you sell your MF #73, you can upgrade significantly.

Upgrade to 4th appearance of Batman?  Or 1st appearance of the Spectre?  Or the Human Torch and the Angel?  Or 3rd Superman cover appearance?

Or 1st appearance of Wonder Woman?  Green Arrow would easily beat her at the box-office.  Hey she is iconic, All Star #8 is better than all the comics I listed above.  But it's a Gerber 4 or 5.  Aquaman & Green Arrow at Gerber 7 is clearly better.  Despite what the media tries to tell us.  Wonder Woman 2 flopped.

Shill bidding is legal in Texas, but shill bidding in an online auction is a federal crime (wire fraud). I don't doubt that some sellers attempt to place shill bids, the law be damned.

The leading staff of the largest most famous auction houses (not just comics)....were hired right off of the parking lot of Honest Larry's Slightly Used Cars.

My advice....if it doesn't seem right, it isn't right.  No matter what they say.

I'm not really giving an opinion here other than to say I doubt they or anybody has warehouses or even one warehouse full of GA stuff. If that's the case I'll take a pallet of Contact 12's as well. But I get you're point.  Do they buy and keep stuff until they feel is the optimum time to sell? I'm sure they do. That's kind of the way to do it if you're "only in it for the money". Then again they can't keep it too long after getting it graded because they would be on the census, and the less on the census the better for the sellers.

But this has got me thinking. I always thought all the books in the auctions of HA, CC, and CL were all owned by people who are using these auction houses to sell their stuff. But are some of the books in their auctions actually owned by the auction houses? And/or do they sometimes bid on and buy books they are selling on their own auctions by using a proxy bidder perhaps (who later becomes a proxy seller) ? If so that seems unethical.

Adjusting bids? I'm not sure what that means but it sounds illegal. Wow, I wrote much more than I planned. I just came by to see some sweet Promise books. :1514325239_yeehawemoji:

Instead of 1 guy, me, giving anecdotal/circumstancial evidence....let's think big picture.  Think about all the blatant lies we see everywhere else, even right in front of millions on the television.  Why wouldn't auction houses control the action??  It's all totally in-house.
