  1. Traded for some AAMOW and GI Combats. First up is the AAMOW 111 I traded for, and next to it is the copy I already had. This is one of my favorite Silver Age greytone , tri panel covers. Not sure if I will hang on to the old one or not.
  2. Actually, it is the third appearance of Zoom, second being in #147. My Flash subscription started with 151 and ended IIRC at 197. I just loved the covers and stories of 151-158 but am settling for 151-153 in slabs to make me a happy collector.
  3. One of the three Flash books that I wanted slabbed. Another one is coming within the week and I have bids on the last one. Used ebay bucks to cover some of this. Still not sure if I will flip my raw copy. Sigh.
  4. Did the buyer file a claim or did he just contact you via email? Whenever I have opened a claim through ebay for a problem, the option of leaving feedback was taken away immediately. It is almost like the transaction is dead and buried.
  5. I haven't submitted a book to CGC as it is cost prohibitive. I buy them on the "secondary" market, and have only kept about 20. That pretty much cements that my opinion is worthless to the powers that be. But here is my plugged nickel on it. Newton rings just bug the $#!t out of me. To me, they are an eyesore. Especially when the cover is mostly black, like my ASM 28. There was only one way to look at it ring free, and that was by tilting it to just the right angle. It bothered me so much, I flipped it to someone who didn't care about the rings. Win win. Now I try to find out when the book was slabbed. If it was within the past year or so, there is a lot of hesitation about pulling the trigger or not on it.
  6. I'm on the 2.0-2.5 band wagon, though I tend to grade along the lines of MCS.
  7. I think Metamorpho looks like he just discovered he can't breathe underwater!!
  8. I remember Harley Yee from the Chicago shows back in the late 80's. Never bought anything from him.
  9. I just looked at two over at MCS and they didn't have that problem. The corner on those were completely darker yellow than yours and the Spiderman was a deeper orange as well. I'm no expert, but I'm leaning toward fading.
  10. I had a cracked case arrive last Saturday. I filed a claim with ebay, the seller contacted me and apologized. I sent him the book back Monday (with an ebay prepaid label). He got it Wednesday and I was refunded the same day. I would have left him positive feedback, but as soon as you file a claim that option is no longer available to you. Bypass USPS on this and file the claim with ebay. And yes, every freaking Priority Mail box containing a CGC book I've gotten looks like apes danced on it.
  11. I had debated buying this one. Nice to see it went to a good home. Now if I can find one that I can afford.....
  12. I bought a new, shrink wrapped hardcover from an online retailer. Two of the pages were stuck together by some sort of greenish, moldy silly putty looking stuff. I did not give it the sniff, touch and taste test. The retailer told me to throw it away and they would send a new one.
  13. I used to buy quite a lot from them back in the late 80's, early 90's. Hard to beat getting a bunch of fifty centers in those days. Their trading system really sucked (send us your finest and you can get these 50 centers in return) and it took forever to get my books(6 to 7 weeks in some cases). I pulled the plug on that well over 20 years ago and have absolutely zero regrets.
  14. Has anybody else noticed that some silver age listings now also have a stock photo before you get to the actual book itself? You wind up looking at a nice stock photo, then you see the real book which may be garbage. I've even come across it with CGC books. It just wastes more time.....
  15. Was finally able to snag this one at what I felt was a cheap price.
  16. I'd keep the 1.0 rather than risk a purple label of death 1.5 (or less).
  17. Some that arrived this week. The JLA 37 is one of my favorite covers, even though the JLA doesn't apear on it.
  18. I picked this up in early June and don't have plans to part with it any time soon. I did a lot of research on the net before buying it. Felt that for the money, this was a pretty decent buy. It does have a bit of staple rust, but no migration as far as I can tell. Personally I'm leaning to the 3.5-4.0 range and would appreciate your input. On a side note, I am having minor surgery tomorrow. Will have to be off my foot for 48 hours, so I may not be able to check in. Maybe I can jigger this on my phone. Thanks in advance! (BTW the spine should be visible, no damage there).
  19. I sent this off to MCS as a 4.0 and they graded it as a 4.0. Yea!
  20. I'm not too upset. If it sells at the good+ price, the worst I will do is break even.
