  1. Blue Bolt Weird 116 $600 This sharp, killer Cole cover rocks sweet vibrant colors, a bright white title and clean blacks. Back cover has some issues- sun shadow and a 1” tear on left edge, and some smallish bug chews on bottom corners. Spine is nice except for a ¼” bottom split. Also, book has 4 staples, but they seem to be a binding error which won’t affect grade (see pic).
  2. Crime-Fighting Detective 12 $80 Very tough Cole crime book, only 3 on census! My second favorite Cole crash after All Famous Police Cases 6. I’d grade this around a solid 4.0 with consistent wear along edges and spine, a ½” bottom split, three smallish chips on right edge and foxing on front and back covers. Some cool crude stories in here too.
  3. Shocking Mystery Cases 50 $950 A killer copy of Cole’s Frankenstein monster, with a mouthwatering cover- flat, smooth, clean whites, vivid, glowing colors, and solid blacks. Only detraction is the small tear/fold on top right corner. Unfortunately, there’s a 1 x ½” piece missing from the back cover, top left corner. Also, interior edges of cover show tanning, but book is totally supple.

  5. My guess is your black copy has better pq with very slight tanning to inside covers, while the blue has possible creamier pages and some tanning on interior cover?
  6. And this is just a stunner- but for some bug chew on the back cover
  7. This is a bit rough around the edges, but has a nice solid green, with very little of the browning common with this issue:
  8. Good reader copy of this Blue Bolt - except the tape is so stiff the book won't completely open
  9. this isn't a criticism, but comic connect is auctioning a copy of blue bolt weird 112 that was auctioned by Heritage less than a year ago - when I compared the two listings, I found the scans to be significantly different. Just a demonstration of how different the colors of the same book can appear depending the scan. Personally, I think the Heritage scan is perhaps a touch too light- notice how light the blacks are in the grade number, and the CC is much too dark, no GA book I've seen has blacks that inky deep. The difference might be on the subtle side, but as a buyer, I rely on the accuracy of a book's scan, especially when color strikes are as important as they are to me, to determine how aggressively I plan to bid on the book. The real question is, since both can't be right- which is closest to the actual book? Also interesting that the book was reholdered, not sure why that happened?
