some worthless Warrior / DC V for Vendetta promo's
-
that top set was one I sold recently, super-nice copies, but actually I once sold a set for £400+ None of the issues are "rare" but they are scarce in higher grade (9.0 and above) and almost non-existent above 9.4 Warrior 1 has a confirmed print run of just 44,000, distributed as 34,000 in UK 10,000 in USA So it's very definitely uncommon in the States Also assume the print run decreased as it went on, certainly no.25 & no.26 are less common than the preceeding issues

MOST VALUABLE MODERN VARIANTS - THE RANKINGS
EwanUK replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
thanks Amadeus great thread, so apologies if slight lateral moves Last question: I note that the "Vader Down" variant has apparently just 14 copies printed. They now sell for huge amounts Would it be viable for a modern print-business to actually print such low numbers? Surely the risk of theft would become a real problem? worth more than their weight in gold after all... -
MOST VALUABLE MODERN VARIANTS - THE RANKINGS
EwanUK replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Hi - many thanks - to both the chap who added the pics and the other responses to what clearly is a contentious question (apologies) Am mostly a Bronze & Copper-age guy so I had some comfort with the variants of that period which seem to have some degree of "solidity" i.e. a Miracleman 2D variant, 30 /35c, Test Logo, UK / Canadian etc etc Questions Are all cover variants now (from Marvel & DC) "ratio" variants? Other than the covers being obviously different, how are these noted? (I know Marvel say "variant" on the number box) If you have a very high ratio (e.g. are there such ones as 1:50,000?) do these correspond to the ranking; or is it (as I expect) supply and demand? Is it a good idea to ask about modern 2nd and 3rd prints and variants of those? -

sorry my other question, which could well by stupid / obvious I see a lot of 1:200, 1:500 etc notations these days Do you guys know what the overall print runs actually are to determine relative scarcity? Secondly, how, other than the publishers word, do you know the ratio is accurate? -

very helpful list I must admit I need to learn a lot more about modern variants, you always get them in bought collections and it's often dificult to know what's what, even by checking completed could we please have pics underneath each entry, even if you crib them from the web? thanks -
Tank Girl's first appearance was not in Deadline no.1 It was in the ultra-rare fanzine Atom Tan Here's a signed copy I sold a while back for about $400

From my index... "TODD McFARLANE'S SPAWN SPOGZ The hottest collectible of 1993 -- and the only authorized Spawn foil-packs -- Todd McFarlane's SPOGZ! (Group 1: The Proto-Spogz) As originally issued, there were 5 unvarnished "proto-Spogz" -- convention giveaways -- that came out before the official set. Three of these bore Spawn images, with art by Todd McFarlane; the other two promoted Eclipse Comics and Larry Marder's Tales Of The Beanworld comics" The "other two" are the MM logo one and the Eclipse logo one. They are ultra-ultra-rare, I've seen just 2 in all the years I've been collecting MM. I recently sold my set to a boardie.

Bought this collection for £150 ($210 ish) yesterday. About 2,000 comics. Comics were stuffed into four huge plastic tubs and a further card box This is one of those collections where the comics are generally well read, unbagged and in terrible stored condition, so when I say "stuffed" I mean it! However.... it's rare that you spot a modern key right at the top of a box! ...and it has yielded these so far So not so bad! In addition, 99% Marvel & DC, and all big titles No infestation of Image or Malibu you tend to normally get -

Hi all An updated MM / Alan Moore / 2000AD Badge "Tree" for those interested These are all rare 1980s original tin badges I have recently sold the four super-rare Warrior Miracleman badges to another collector (MM, YM, KM, Kimota 3rd row) so I don't own those anymore - but they are in very good hands I magaged to find an original V for Vendetta badge - however turns out this isn't the Warrior version, but one put out by DC in 1988 to promote the launch of the coloured DC run (pretty pleased anyway) I've also found 2 Watchmen 1986 originals! Plus lots of new 2000AD ones - including Zenith, DR & Quinch, Judge Mortis etc The quest continues...

Thanks - the first was full of (as far as I know) mostly drek - some Phantoms, and some MAD mags were the best. I need to look at ebay to see what's what. May be some time! Thanks for the kind words! fun story and very lovely of you to put the cash under the door (i'd worry they'd not see it!) enjoy -
Back to MM rarities, here's also something you'll likely never have seen before An original 1950s Marvelman fan-club badge - BUT still attached to the original club card !!! This was on ebay on a BIN and unfortunately (for me) somebody else won it probably the only surviving copy
