  1. I sold that copy several years ago. I think it only sold for about £80 as the market was much less developed then. If I can be indulged in another advert, a few more MM rarities on ebay now and later tonight which I think may be liked in thread...
  2. My pleasure. That looks wonderful - glad you're pleased with the book. Always happy to sell to the big collectors. Yes, you mean Ark 10 with the V cover? I do have one more copy yes.
  3. Never seen that before! Details pls? Is it a self-printed version?
  4. Wow... that's just incredible Derek. I can't imagine why he'd take it elsewhere as between the 3 of us he isn't going to get any higher price. I don't think it's a scam either. There was no Marvelman 26 photo ANYWHERE on the web. Very, very strange though. We can watch for the major sites though. Anyway, Derek, nice to hear from you. Thought it was you. Who else!
  5. Ah but you won some nice items too - and further rarities to come soon... All my main MM items were bought by big fans outside the UK... how about Miracle Exporter for my board name? p.s. very happy with the prices on each - FE 5 2nd highest to date, Fusion 2 the highest Paying for my son's room decoration - so lots of wife related brownie-points
  6. I meant the facsimiles themselves rather than individual issues. Byron made copies of 100s of different books (all British 1950s / early 1960s titles). About a third of all Marvelman issues have copies out there.
  7. If the insides are bright white modern(ish) paper then they are exact facsimiles manufactured in the UK in very small numbers (about 5 each) by a chap called Byron Whitworth in the early 90s They turn up quite regularly and I have bought them by mistake on ebay as the covers are photocopies of the original comics - so look real from a distance.
  8. Hi all Discussed fanzines and much more are now on ebay Assume I get special dispensation for saying this since I discovered most of them, if not apologies Contemplating selling my 300+ L Miller Marvelman's too as my "man-cave" is being turned into my younger son's bedroom so I have to down-size...
  9. Hi, they'll be listed either this thurs 23rd or next 30th - I have FE no.5 and Fusion no.2 definitely ready - plus some others, like Eclipse Extra, you may appreciate BTW, that's the first time I've ever seen an Eclipse-era MM sweatshirt! Another very rare item! I didn't think it existed!
  10. The Alan Davis Kimota t-shirt is extremely rare!!! I have only ever seen one, so snap one up if you see it for sale. There was also a double-MM t-shirt from Eclipse which is slightly less rare as I've seen two!!! I have several MM fanzines listed now and more coming up soon...
  11. Hi I have all of these in nice condition with the exception of Elektra and Book 3 They will be coming up for sale on ebay in due course... And much more too... I am downsizing a lot of MM stuff
  12. I'm guessing you got it off ebay from a guy in Italy, right? I did, too. No idea how many he has, but I've never seen them anywhere but from him. Yes, I did. Very cheap from blackrain2004. Hi, I know this thread is pretty old, but what Italian edition are you referencing? Is it the Super Comics No.19 ? Hi again yes Super Comics no.19 & no.20 1992 from "Max Bunker Press" - it reprints Book 1 in a really nice format, in Italian of course Elektra 2 is an Italian fanzine - I've only ever seen 2 copies, the front cover art is a detail from Arken Sword 17/18 "Devilswrack" - the only Miracleman strip published outside of Eclipse / Marvel Portions of the Eclipse run were published in varying formats in France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Brazil There is supposed to a German reprint too but I have never seen it
  13. Warrior had a button of the iconic Watchmen Happy Face in 1982? No sorry, the Watchmen one was the later badge from 1986 (though is still pretty rare). That photo was actually pulled from ebay many years back. Collecting Warriors badges is extremely SLOW - I have managed just 8 in 10 years as follows... Miracleman Logo badge Young Miracleman Logo badge Kid Miracleman Logo badge Kimota! Logo badge Warpsmith badge (x2) Pressbutton badge & (Badge R) Both Watchmen and V for Vendetta have so many rip-offs, copies and modern versions that finding originals is next to impossible. Have had 2 or 3 Watchmen but never a V one. Dez told me they were manufactured in their 1000s though... assume most got disposed of Origina Titan / Forbidden Planet 2000ADs badges are also tough to find... It's an interesting diversion... p.s. loving the MM 1 UK 9.8s very nice I still have my double-cover no.1, unfortunately not a UK version...
  14. Actually, it looks like the under-bidder was Derek - just worked it out So he now has the full set, a pretty amazing achievement! I think we might see Marvel reprint this in a up-coming issue of Miracleman
  15. I do love it when the industry's ill-informed sites try and make stories out of unique ebay sales (another example being when I sold the equally- unique Alan Moore Utopia fanzine earlier in the year) This is not like a seller finding an Action 1 or Spider-man 1 - I would expect the seller would be absolutely thrilled with the price it went for. Amazed even! He sold it with a Soccer Album (£10.51) and 1952 Saint Comic (£7.39). He probably thought it might be worth a fiver at most. How do you put market value on something so unique? I would've gone to £1,500 and I'm one of about 5 major Marvelman collector's in the world. I have 456 of the 751 issues available (61%). I began collecting Marvelman fully in 2009. I'd say 400 of the issues were bought in the first 3 years, all off ebay. Of the remaining ones I need (285) I usually locate about 1 or 2 a month now. Most from UK, but other copies from Australia, USA & Germany. Many of the issues I have NEVER seen, or once only, probably about 50 I've been outbid on or missed... By series - Marvelman 187 of 349 (earliest no.31) notable gaps 50-80, 202-210 Young Marvelman 239 of 349 (earliest no.29, though 26,27 & 28 have all been on ebay). I have most issues 29-100, notable gap 200-210 strangely Family 17 of 30 (earliest no.1) all issues very rare Magic 4 of 4 Annuals 9 of 19 Derek has 750 of 751 unless he bought no.26 The most I've paid was for the MF 1 - which was only £150 and it's a nice FN/FN+ and was going to be used for Marvel's MF book until it got pulled
  16. Crikey what a tale... I was the third under-bidder, I'd assumed one of the others would be Derek but unsure The seller DEFINITELY didn't know what he had but as the auction started I bet at least 5 of us emailed him to pull the book and "sell to me" ! As I say, I went to about £1,100 but £2,500 is far too much even if I could afford it I doubt very much another no.26 will appear, certainly not anytime soon. no.25 when sold never did - I think there's more than 2 copies (maybe 5) but all these early Miller titles are super, super rare I think it's great that a copy has surfaced though, and from an original owner in Wales too ! How bizarre Love the appropriate story title too
  17. Did you all see the Marvelman no.26 auction on ebay? This was the copy thought to not exist Marvelman 26 I was outbid by about £1,500!!! Anyone knows who got it?
  18. Have been having a lengthy Miracleman vacation (mostly brought on by a sulk about multiple Marvel covers) but predictably I'm now back... I understand we're on no.6 now? I see on ebay there appear to be at least 4 or 5 different covers to each issue - plus some convention specials? Does anyone know what each of them are please? and what the "ratio's" are? And why are there so few graded copies? Has it sold well? All the back issues seem to have sold out at my LCS. Back on the original run, are there any new 9.9s? There were previously no.12, no.15 and no.17 ? thanks guys - new fanzine finds coming soon
  19. I thought the same.... as normally a very passionate Miracleman fan for nearly 30 years I find myself a bit removed from this Marvel relaunch. Maybe because it has taken so, so long... maybe because it's essentially just reprints... or maybe it's all those silly Marvel variant covers trying to seduce me... Hmm While I anticipate no.25 I can't help but be turned off by this churning money machine with it's glossy paper and computerised colouring... Maybe it's all just another one of Gargunza's dreams... Still, I'll probably buy a copy
  20. many thanks It's impressive that so many have survived - and since been graded are the comic shops noted still in existence? interesting they are not given sequential copies the no.11/400 - quoting from CBG Apr 2003 "A Golden Miracleman… Rare Variant Sells For $1,500" by Michael Browning. News of Excalibur Books and Comics of Portland, Ore, USA selling Miracleman no.1 Gold 11/400 to an unnamed collector for $1,500". This is where Overstreet pulled it's value from believe it or not! Are hasn't changed since... The article actually pictures gold cert entitled "American Comics", "Ray Johnson 9/30/85". It is copy 360/400. So there's another one....
  21. It's interesting 3 of us were doing the same thing ! This is my (shorter) list which has a few additionals the text refers to the comic shop noted on the certificates - have you guys kept this info on yours ("Blank" is obviously when there is no comic shop mentioned) can we come up with a master list? A lot of them have survived haven't they! 057 / 400 Blank (4 Color) 113 / 400 Blank 116 / 400 Blank 123 / 400 "American Comics" graded CGC 9.0 128 / 400 Blank 131 / 400 Blank 134 / 400 Blank graded CGC 9.8 169 / 400 Blank 179 / 400 "Sunrise Comics" £435 Oct 2013 181 / 400 Blank graded CGC 9.6 184 / 400 Blank graded CGC 9.8 185 / 400 "Sunrise Comics" CGC 9.8 187 / 400 Blank 188 / 400 "Sunrise Comics" (4 Color) 226 / 400 Blank graded CGC 9.8 271 / 400 Blank 315 / 400 Blank 353 / 400 "Sunrise Comics" 391 / 400 "Fact, Fiction & Fantasy"
  22. OK, from Cory Sedlmeier, the editor working on this project: "Earlier issues will have some variance between Eclipse's numbering and ours. We're including the three Warpsmith solo stories and Warrior #4 so our breaks aren't going to be exactly the same. By the time we get to issue #9 they will line up with the Eclipse numbering and be the same from there on." Hope that helps. thanks Hari - that's interesting to know If Cory wants any rare fanzine content to publish as pin-ups etc happy to help Perhaps the cover of Fantasy Express no.5 (or maybe not ) Reprinting the Warpsmiths (assume Cold War Cold Warrior Parts 1 & 2 and Ghostdance from A1) shows they must have got Garry Leach on-side. Does Marvel now "own" Warpsmith? Any plans for Apocrypha?
  23. What!? Now what's going on? They're reprinting the entire run, which presumably includes #8 (which had no new material). That gives them 24 issues worth to get through before new stuff. I did see that 2 issues were solicited for January, so maybe they'll get there faster. The linked article also offers 2016 as the start date for new stuff, but he also says that might be post-Gaiman and Buckingham. I'm not sure how many more issues of The Silver Age and The Dark Age were originally intended and how many of those the guys still want to tell. Both gentlemen are at different places in their careers and lives now, and may not have the same creative vision they were working on in 1993. Issue #8 won't be reprinted, as there is no new material there. And it is true they are doing two issues in January just to launch, but then it goes monthly. I have 14 covers and pages from the original run that I let Marvel scan for the re-release. So, all this information comes straight from the editors. Best, If no issue no.8, will no.9 take its place? I would've thought it's imperiative to maintain the original numbering as it's part of the folklore - i.e. the big deal about Marvelmiracleman no.15? not only that, but the biggest seller no.25?
  24. indeed, the PGX one looks like a forgery - the certificate certainly note how the 128/400 is not seen on the Moore-signed page I think there are other copies out there too
