  2. I have yet to find anything worth purchasing locally. Everyone always has comics but they are "in the house" and they have the first spider man, yada yada. But they never produce them Everything else for sale is either Xforce or manga.f Would have love to find Bone in that condition. I have an extensive collection of sci fi and fantasy paperbacks though. So I got that going for me.
  3. Wow! That was a really good movie. The fight scenes were near flawless and brutal. Good story. Definitely made my birthday a good one. Movie with the wife, then dinner with the family followed by ice cream at Brahms and a trip to the park so the kids could work the sugar out. I'd like to watch it again tonight. Highly recommended...I was smiling ear to ear during the opening sequence.

  5. Wasn't that a protest against the inadequate ignore feature? With very, VERY few exceptions, I have argued with no one, debated with no one, sparred with no one, "gotten the last word" with no one, let anyone and everyone say whatever they wished to and about me, with my sole response being limited to emoticons, links, and memes...by choice...so that no one would be able to say "well, RMA, you just have to argue with everyone, don't you?" Because the answer is clearly no. The issue, then, is not me. Strikes still come, people still get angry, people still fight. The issue isn't me, and it isn't any individual. It is the undercurrent of hostility that ebbs and flows throughout this board. No one person, or even group of people, can be held responsible for that undercurrent. It is a problem that is, however, completely under the control of the moderation team, because only the moderation team has the ability to control the general tone of this environment in a broad way. And they're simply not doing that job. So is the problem one of favoritism or inconsistency due to lack of resources? I see where your coming from and I agree that moderation of the forums lacks cohesion. My fear is that it becomes heavy handed to address the problem and there will be casualties.
  6. You seem to have great difficulty in determining the difference between "outrage" and someone forthrightly disagreeing with your assessment of the situation. You do, however, have a very easy time with threatening people. After all..."non constructive" conversation (with what is, and what is not, constructive of course being up to you) is a violation of policy, and a strikable offense. I really wish you, and whomever it is that is contracted to do this work for the Certified Collectibles Group, would move on to some other company already and let someone else take your place. You really don't seem to be able to handle it when people take issue with the way you do your job. I do hope that wasn't too "outrageous" for you. (thumbs u I respect your opinion, but as an unbiased observer...I completely disagree. I had the exact same reaction as Arch when reading your post; my view about your argumentative style is that you deliberately choose to use quite a bit of inflammatory language. Perhaps you do so for emphasis; I don't know. I think you, like most of us, has a real hard time being criticised. I mean, the eyeroll at the start of your post is just about as perfect an example of what he's talking about, short of a graemlin that's giving the finger. I'm not saying this to argue with you, or to get into a prolonged parsing of your original post, but rather to give you a perspective from someone who hopefully you know doesn't have any antagonism towards you. If you think this should have been done via pm, I apologise. It seems easier this way It really just boils down to the last word with RMA...he's gotta have it. I've not read any arguments made by him that don't antagonize, belittle or otherwise berate in the interest of merely shutting up any contrary opinion. And this, Sal, is a perfect demonstration of the problem. This isn't true, not in a specific sense, nor a broad ense, and yet...this Shootydog feels it necessary to make the discussion about ME, rather than the issue. Despite the fact that, since January of 2012, for reasons that remain my own, I've made...perhaps...50 posts that actually said much of anything at all. No, despite that, it devolves into personal attacks about individuals, rather than talking about the issues. This is about as excellent an example of what is wrong with this board that anyone could possibly have come up with. I'm just addressing a specific example that's being discussed here in this moment. I agree...the problem is widespread and not just about you.

If you think this should have been done via pm, I apologise. It seems easier this way It was, and is, for emphasis. One is allowed to be unhappy, and express that unhappiness, without someone else reading their unhappiness as inflammatory. Emoticons are used to express emotions. We are not emotionless automatons. I did not "flip the bird" or use any emoticon which could be construed as provocative. It expresses how I think about the situation. And the situation here, despite what Architecht may believe about me and my posting habits personally, is pretty bad, much of the time, in many ways...an opinion shared by very many. This I agree with. It's pretty rough around here lately. There seem to be a lot of disgruntled, angry folk with agendas or just the need to push some buttons.

  9. Sold some more books to Bio. Perfect as always. Just how it is when dealing with this guy.
  10. Great transaction all around. Quick payment and a pleasure to deal with.
  11. Rebecca Guay is another that doesnt get mentioned enough. http://comicbookdb.com/creator.php?ID=3530
  12. Not the best photo but definitely one of my favorite covers.
  13. Thanks. Yes it's from Ikea, $65.00 and I believe it comes in the black-brown or light wood color. How sturdy does it seem to you? I like the case but it seems a tad flimsy.
  14. Got this in from CGC today. Purchased a while ago from Heritage. Swamp Thing #1 White pages. Western Penn
  15. Came home for lunch and met the mailman dropping off my package from CGC. Apologise for the pics..all I have it my camera phone on me. A personal favorite of mine...didn't expect much from it but I love the cover. A childhood favorite of mine. Graded much better than I expected. And the one I really wanted to do well. Swamp Thing #1 9.6 white pages. Western Penn Pedigree. Im pleased.
  16. I do like the collection room and would gladly have one with as much leather and wood. I do not, however, condone the killing of such majestic animals as lions nor keeping their corpses and body parts as mementos and decoration. To me that detracts from the home but my father was an avid hunter so I understand it to a degree. I am not attempting to judge, this is just a personal preference I suppose. My father exposed me to hunting and it wasn't my bag. To each his own. Aside from that I do think you have a nice home and, were it mine, would spend a great deal of time hunting down just the right antique furniture to decorate.
  17. I suspect the tin toys will pleasantly surprise you, especially the tank. Just did a quick google scan and seen it sold for $40 up to $400. Hold out for the upper end.
  18. I disagree completely. If you as a seller can't make 100% feedback then you're not really trying (or you don't care). And which planet are you on David? Maintaining a 100% feedback rating on eBay as a seller can be considered a minor miracle considering how many person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed buyers that are out there. Planet Terra just like you Whatsamatta? got negged recently? I have to say David your quite wrong. There are all kinds of reasons that people neg and spite is one of them, ignorance is another. My wife sells on Ebay (not comics)...she is as diligent and as customer focused as any top seller and even she is put at risk due to buyers who simply dont pay attention or dont care how their carelessness affects the seller.
  19. In the middle of The Passage right now. Its good but the middle dragged on for a bit...its picking up again. Once I finish ill read book 2 and 3 of the Mistborn series. Book 1 was amazing. I would like to get back to the Temeraire series but book 3 was a drudging heap of a travel guide.
  20. Oh well, despite what everyone here will say, if they were in the same position they would have done the same. Just like all of the boardies that chastised Chuck for the Mile High collection and saying they would have paid more, set up a scholarship in Church's name, etc., if they were in the same position they would have done the same thing. My friend did know the value of the book and was thrilled as he did not expect to ever be able to buy a copy of AF #15 (he likes his books to be VF or better). I am happy for him on this find. FWIW, I told my friend he made a mistake offering so much for just a few books as the owner might now take a look into the value of what is left. If it were me, I would have offered the owner $20 for both boxes of books after checking them all out and snagged everything. I also teased him that if there was an AF #15 in that shape he might have missed out a Hulk #1 and FF #1 in similar condition by not looking through the rest of the last stack. Ryan, Once your friend was asked, what do you think they are worth, I would absolutely not have told or offered $30. If he knew the value of the item, and offered low, it is absolutely a fleecing and 100% wrong. It's nice he got an AF 15, but it certainly was completely and thoroughly dishonest. If he didn't have the money, he could have gone back and gotten more. This is different than a seller stickering a book at a certain price and you paying the low price. The seller asked your friend and essentially, he lied. I think there is failure on both sides of the coin. Lack of due diligence on the sellers part. Shiftiness and base greed on the buyers part. It was misrepresentation on the buyers part though that makes this particularly egregious.
