  1. "This is not the genre you are looking for..." . . . @Dr. Love
  2. <-- me just now getting to this thread. nice pickups on the Liberty mag and Nugget!
  3. You can "decommission" CGC labels by sending them back in? This is basically like wiping their record from existence. That's crazy. It should have to be accompanied by an insurance loss certificate or something to that effect to be valid for higher value books. At the very least CGC should keep the original record and put an * denoting a label withdrawal so that it is known that a copy "once" existed at that grade. Thankfully (/s), I don't have the cash to chase highest graded key books so this is mainly an academic exercise for me.
  4. In Love (1954 Mainline/Charlton) #1 This is the first copy i've ever seen or owned. Kirby cover and interior art! 6 on CGC census with 8.0 being the highest. 666
  5. If you go the safe route, I think you'd need to get a really large, solid and heavy safe that you bolt to the floor/wall. Otherwise you're advertising that the best stuff is in a case that someone can carry off, distinguishing it from your long boxes of less valuable stuff. They can always take the case/portable safe with them and break it open later.
  6. Security cameras are a great idea too, outside and inside. Video to identify the culprit and their vehicle. Someone looking to haul away long/short boxes aren't running away with them on foot.
  7. Best strategy here. Bury your valuables under a mountain of drek. Someone who is dead set on breaking/entering/stealing will be difficult to stop completely. However, only someone who really knows what they're looking for, and knows your inventory, will be likely to get away will all the good stuff. And after digging through all the fodder and lifting and sifting through dozens of long boxes, they're likely to throw out their backs in the process. Also, don't forget the insurance. There are several companies that specialize in collectibles insurance. It's not that big an expense if you have a significant investment of your net worth in your books.
  8. FTFY (for you tone deaf Boardies) /s
  9. Did Captain America get... breast implants? Or is that an extra bicep on his chest?
  10. Seriously. Are you F'ing kidding me Rob Liefeld? CGC was the deceived innocent party? When you declare yourself THE authority on certifying collectibles with accurate and impartial grading, you don't get a pass for being "deceived" by a fly-by-night, flash-in-the-pan "influencer" who's been alive for barely as long as your expert certification company has been operating. Stick to drawing dudes with 3 biceps on their arms.
  11. HI Josh, these are really interesting and unique pieces. Are you selling any of your original art? I voted for your collage through the link, and I would encourage others to do the same! Good luck! Dave
  12. I agree that 6.5 sale is a serious outlier. I thought it would hammer between 6-7K. Will be interesting to see what the next midgrade copy sells for after this.
  13. I had been watching the AGS 14 CGC 3.0 on MCS for a while at 2600 or 2650. After the Heritage Baker auction I went back to check on it and sure enough it had been bought. I guess after the bonkers hammer price of the 6.5 at $18k, the 3.0 looked like a steal. Classic FOMO, but at least somewhat justified
  14. Interesting to see the original catalog. I bought the Adventures 2 in 2018 or 2019 from another collector for very close to the catalog price.
  15. After reading almost 90 pages of furor, debate, and speculation, I think I speak for an entire generation of comic collector when I say, "I had no f'ing idea that anyone still buys modern comics"
  16. Am I the only one bothered by the lack of thumbs on this couple? I understand the anatomic concept of where their thumbs are supposed to be, but the hands just look awkward, especially the suited guy's right hand.
  17. Thanks for the report Rick! Always love your pictures and commentary!
