  1. Neat issue! The intro of Aqualad plus a cool Krypto cover as well.
  2. I've got a 1960s vintage Dr Who Chad Valley set at my mum's place. Almost wore it out as a kid. Here's a picture from the net of that set: The Give-A-Show Projectors were marketed by Chad Valley in the U.K. and judging by how many Chad Valley Give-A-Show Projectors are still available these days, they were an even more popular toy line in the U.K. than here in North America.
  3. Here I am preparing to regrade my Atom run: And here I am settling down to regrade my Hawkman run:
  4. Oh no! They nabbed my buddy! What are they trying to pin on him, some frivolous manslaughter rap or something?
  5. Thanks, Steel! That little book really has. I don't have the two Superboy issues. These three were the key stories for me in that book. But I may get them eventually. Great stuff! I love collecting stories with a cause and effect history behind them - especially when they have happy endings. (thumbs u
  6. Oh so do I! Here's another for ya: Cool! That's the first Adventure Comics issue I ever bought as a kid, and I got it on a family trip to Toronto to see the Canadian National Exhibition (which for you Americans is like a very large state fair). (thumbs u
  7. Hey, nice set! (thumbs u And those comics aren't bad either.
  8. That's because Mort Weisinger was trying to cross market the title to girls as well. And it must have worked too because the Lois Lane title was among DC's best selling ones until well into the sixties.
  9. I find this thread is great for admiring comics I don't actively remember seeing anywhere previously. Not surprising since there are six and a half Superman titles beginning no later than the fifties.
  10. Hey! What's the Iron Sheik doing on a comic cover from 1959?
  11. I have quite a few Gump Worsley cards from 1957-58 to 1972-73. Which would you like me to scan?
  12. Well since we're in the midst of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, I thought some old hockey cards merited a look: 1960-61 Parkhurst 1961-62 Parkhurst 1962-63 Parkhurst 1963-64 Parkhurst
  13. Cool! Those Rip Hunter Showcase comics are super tough to find in nice condition! (thumbs u
  14. Since you brought it up, what is Superboy doing in her bedroom?!?! Probably the same thing you'd be doing in Lana's bedroom.
  15. Here are scans of my Showcase Inferior Five comics:
  16. Beautiful copy Steve. Your collection continues to amaze!! I'll only add that it's a good thing that I purchased many of these books in the 1970s-1990s. Couldn't afford them today at current market prices. I'm not sure about this but I think books like the Lois Lane were harder to locate in the days before the internet. Oh absolutely! Early Silver Age DCs were nearly impossible to find in the days before the internet. Oh sure, the prices quoted in Overstreet were low, but nobody had them. I longed for an opportunity to pay the prices I saw in Overstreet but such opportunities rarely came. That's why I'm particularly impressed with the success you had in acquiring so many high grade Silver Age DCs in those lean years.
  17. Supergirl's red skirt makes me wonder whether Mort Weisinger was still experimenting with her costume at this point or whether the colorist just screwed up.
  18. Sadly I don't have a Mars Attacks wrapper. The cards too are demand scarce, and I don't think they were distributed in Canada so they don't typically show up in my neck of the woods. I have a whopping total of only nine. Here they are: I have these four booklets issued in the late eighties by Pocket Comics as well: One booklet for each of the first 54 cards in the set was planned, but the endeavour was sadly curtailed after the first four booklets.
  19. I like the cover too...a lot. DC purples are unique. And as a background to the exploding planet the purple is nearly perfect. I love purple covers!!! I really like them too! Carmine Infantino has been quoted as saying that comic publishers could count upon purple covers selling.
  20. What a way to endear yourself to a man! Be an absolute pest by trying to uncover his every secret. A tried and tested strategy later adopted by Lois Lane as well.
  21. Yes, I agree. Your Action 212 was born free and hopefully lives out the rest of its days outside of any plastic prison.
  22. Oh man! I don't think I've ever even seen that one live at a show and here you've got an absolutely fabulous shiny pink copy! What a magnificent pair! That's like Chesty Morgan in a comic thread.
  23. Pretty much every issue of Adventure Comics from the mid 1950s has an impressive cover. Your #232 is very nice indeed. I agree! It's covers like these that caused me to start collecting the pre-Legion Adventure Comics as well even though Superboy titles weren't exactly at the top of my hit parade as a kid.
