  1. Why? Did your mother think it would encourage you to carry a knife? Or perhaps wear a garter belt?
  2. Fab cover! My favourite so far from what I've seen in the last year of this thread.
  3. I see no reason whatsoever why the most "valuable" comic in your collection should automatically make your "Top Two".
  4. Is that newsstand or any of the newsstands in which you bought comics still there? Some of the variety stores in which I bought comics in London, Ontario in the 1959-65 period are still there:
  5. Scans of a couple of covers from my very favourite Timely title:
  6. An interesting detail is that WR Pat Abbruzzi of the Montréal Alouettes had set the record for TDs of any kind with 20 in 14 games in the previous 1956 season!
  7. Here's my Casper lunch box that King Seeley issued in 1966: And here's the thermos:
  8. The later Green Lantern and All-American Comics are perhaps the Golden Age comics that I covet the most. Condition and price have always presented near insurmountable obstacles to my acquiring any though.... Incidentally, in what year did you first start collecting comics?
  9. More Casper collectibles. First of all my Fleer Casper the Friendly Ghost card set from 1960: And a vending machine card from the 1960's::
  10. So frustrating. The program here doesn't even allow me to copy-and-paste what I posted in this same thread a few years ago. I have to redo everything by brute force, i.e. one step at a time from Photobucket.
  11. This topic was raised in Robot Man's "Junk Obsession" thread but I thought I'd address it here rather than hijacking his thread. I have many Casper items in my collection. First this Milton Bradley board game: This Hasbro Paint by Number set: This Peter Pan picture disc: And this Roalex slide puzzle:
  12. Now Miss Fury is a Timely hero that I think looks really good in tight pajamas! For whatever reason though her comics are not nearly as coveted as those of her Timely cohorts which I fail to understand.
  13. So I was flipping through several of my 1947-51 Dell comics this morning and it's true. In fact Dell were not only "good" comics, they were "great" comics! Each had a very nicely drawn front cover, 48 pages(!) of stories including the two inside covers though these two were in B&W, a two page text story so that the comic could be classified as printed matter for postage purposes and a back cover with a delightful subscription ad. But other than that there wasn't a single ad! So each Dell comic featured 52 pages of solid content.
  14. This Li'l Bad Wolf is the first of three Four Colors devoted to the title: It features x-over appearances by Brer Bear of Uncle Remus fame as well as Mickey Mouse villain Black Pete! It's therefore among the very favourite Dells in my collection.
  15. I love those Atlas westerns! If only Joe Maneely hadn't suffered that tragic accident....
  16. To add to my board game collection a few months ago I scored this "new old stock" Hasbro board game in a slightly distressed box off Ebay: What's particularly cool is that the game was issued in 1965 meaning it pre-dates the Bat-craze ushered in by the debut of the silly TV show in January 1966. Note that Batman is actually still sporting his pre-1964 logo!
  17. Uggghhh! Even trying to move the cursor below a QUOTE or an IMAGE can be a real battle! This time I've gone down to defeat. I'll try a different tack later.
  18. That purse is cool! Other than several dozen of her comics, this is the only Little Audrey item I have in my collection of stuff:
  19. I find posting here challenging and somewhat frustrating since the switch was made from vBulletin(?) several years ago because of the idiosyncratic quirks of the new program. Nonetheless I'm brimming with ideas and I hope to add several dozen new posts to this thread over the next couple of months.
  20. Oh yeah! Four Color Goofy comics are nice indeed! I have nearly half of the fourteen Goofy issues. Here they are: File copy File copy
  21. Now I've had this Bozo gumball machine for nearly twenty years: But when I saw this unused O-Pee-Chee warehouse stock one on Etsy a few months ago I couldn't resist snapping it up as well: There was one very much like it on the counter of Ken's Variety on Wharncliffe Road which was one of my go-to places for comics.
  22. Well here's one anyway from my collection featuring a fellow in tights:
