  1. Cool book! Are the D ick Tracy toys and ephemera spawned by the strip covered in the pages? I have these D ick Tracy items in my own collection: I'd also really like to get the Aladdin Industries Tracy lunchbox some day: Plus a Hasbro Tracy Marble Maze:
  2. Why did you acquire those comics if you're not a Flash collector? Do you collect Giants?
  3. Just to motivate you, here are scans from my collection of the ones I have: So don't give up the chase! They're out there in the wild just the way I like my women, raw and begging to be handled and opened up for my viewing pleasure.
  4. That never made any sense to me either. Batman and Robin should be over on the other side with the Superman fans while Hawkman (another Julius Schwartz character) and Wonder Woman (who partnered with the Flash many times in early Justice League adventures while Supes was MIA) should be cheering for the Flash.
  5. That's not unusual. The actual date comics hit newsstands varied by distributor and region and the advertised "on sale" date was just a best guess made weeks in advance anyway.
  6. And may he live on and prosper for at least another 55 years '
  7. Getting back to the topic of comics, here incidentally are the five comic mags that were pivotal in setting me on the path to lifelong comic mag degeneracy: Bethlehem copy
  8. The Mickey Mouse strip was always located at or near the very front of the Saturday London Free Press comic section just above the Uncle Remus strip. To this point I've not gotten heavily into collecting Mickey Mouse comics and I have only one in my collection right now: Quite simply with 18 Dell Four Color issues with Mickey Mouse as the title character going back to 1941 plus 84 Dell Mickey Mouse issues ending in 1962 I've always found embarking on the task of complete the run too daunting. I've got nearly half of the 14 Dell Goofy issues though! File copy File copy There are also 10 Dell Four Color Pluto issues I'd eventually like to acquire for my collection.
  9. Yeah well we here love 'em so screw everybody else!
  10. Those splash pages are boss, particularly the Catwoman one!
  11. What the bloody hell? I've never seen this type of programming on a discussion forum. I try to "Reply to Topic" and the program automatically quotes my previous thread. Why? If I want to QUOTE myself, I will. I don't want the program to do it for me.
  12. Sorry to hear that DeeDee hasn't been well. Here's a picture of The MAN with a couple of friends in happier times:
  13. Another comic strip from the Saturday London Free Press that I recall from my earliest comic reading years was the Katzenjammer Kids/Captain and the Kids comic strip. I still love the characters to this very day! Here are scans of my three Katzenjammer Kids comics:
  14. This past year has been so incredibly bad (for one thing the football team that I embraced way back in 1960 and stuck with through thick and thin has been taken from me) that it's tough for me to work up any Xmas spirit. Hmmmm. Maybe if I got Yvonne to help me look....
  15. My rides over the last 45+ years: red 1973 Dodge Charger (current picture of actual car) gold 1983 Chrysler Imperial 1987 Buick Grand National I had all three at the same time until 1992 or so.
  16. I should be around much more often over the next year. I have some big plans We don't often post in the same threads but I seem to recall that you used to make some great posts about hotrodding. Was that you, or someone with a similar name?
  17. Huh?! They can be just as bad as us you know. Have for decades.
  18. I like the innuendo fine, but not the cover art. Betty and Veronica looked far sleeker and sexier fifty years ago:
  19. The Mad Mad Mad Scientist Laboratory featured fabulous box art by the legendary Mort Kunstler. When were you born? Was the set you wanted one of the Doctor Dreadful Labs that Tyco released between 1994 and 1996?
