  1. Dwight sold a beauty copy of that issue months ago ... it was a stunner, and a good price too...
  2. Amazing!!! Pinnacle Hill, Jeff? (thumbs u (thumbs u (Sacentaur's ain't bad either!)
  3. That is wild! Any idea if it sold, or what it sold for on ebay?
  4. Swell copy Joe!! Great PQ a well. Something about this cover I always loved... the strong greens, and first app of the Masked Marvel to boot. If you crack it, the MM story has some really cool sequences... he's flying at a high altitude, and he starts popping pills ... it might have a underlying meaning...
  5. REALLY wanted one or two of those STRANGE TALES pulps, but they got swallowed up too. I'm blown away that one person bought so many lots. I guess that really does reflect the size of the pulp market. Of the 30-something individual pulps I was watching, only about five are still available.
  6. Thanks guys! Why do I keep calling it the Richardson auction???
  7. Nuts, looks like most of the individual copies in the Richardson auction I was eyeing up were sold as lots... Gernsback Amazings, Wonder Stories, Science Wonders, and some Tales of Wonder. I thought many of these hadn't sold at auction's end, but maybe they were post-auction sales. Oh well, I did manage to win the Richardson set of FANTASY's, a high grade three issue set of British sci fi pulps from the 1930's. I love all the covers, but bought the set mainly for this one: Pretty happy to own a piece of this incredible collection for what I would consider a close to bargain price.
  8. Great Gustavson cover... he is really underrated. Does this book have Gustavson interiors as well? Do these Arrow books reprint Funny Pages stories, or are they all new material?
  9. I will back this up ... I've been trying to complete my AMF run, and the 1/4 is a beeyotch. Only seen one on ebay, and I backed down so Win could snag it (he would have blown my bid out of the water anyways!). That copy was probably a fair, with brittle pages. It will likely be the last AMF I need... down to about five issues. The AMF 2/1 is also tough, but not as impossible in my mind. I can't chime in on any Centaurs beyond AMF, Funny Pages (hero/serious covers only), Keen Detective Funnies or Amazing Man. I've kept my focus on the hero/serious issues of those books. If I went for the "funny" covers, I'd be broke! Toughest Funny Pages I own must be the December 1939 issue (vol3/#10) , with the Burgos cover. Meaning to get this pressed out some day... its got great pages... I know the KDF 20 is not a super-rare book, but it does seem to be rare in high grade. Funny how some issues are like that... unless, there are minty raw copies tucked away in private collections we don't know about.
  10. Thanks for clearing that up Dwight! Both for me and Adventure House. (thumbs u
  11. It is not like ebay where an item could be at $400.00, and you put a $2000.00 max. bid in on it, knowing that it will not sell that high but wanting to make sure that you win the item. Then maybe a couple other bidders bid, and you end up getting it for $500.00 etc. In this auction, once you put your max bid in, that is your bid, and it will show $2000.00 on the site, and you are locked in at that bid, unless you call John ahead of time and tell him that you did not realize that this is what is happening. I talked with a couple of strong bidders and they had no idea that this is how the bidding was being done. It is completely different than ebay. Dwight That seems like a super-odd system. So you can only bid once, your maximum bid, and the whole world can see it?? Or am I misunderstanding something? I've never seen an auction where all bidders can see your maximum bid.
  12. Nice books Mr. B! I'm awaiting a Chesler from a certain geek myself...
  13. Wow, thats a great book!! I always thought this cover was on par with Amazing Man #22 for green monsters, plus Kurtzman on the inside!!
  14. Nope, blank and a bit dirty. Was hoping for a Fiction House stamp or something...
  15. I didn't buy a lot in 2011, but I did win my low ball bids on two pieces of GA art ... the last two pages of the Power Man story from FIGHT COMICS #5 (1940). They are PURE golden age, and the only golden age art I own. Superheroes, gorillas, dope smuggling ... its all there! These pages look great in person. Now if someone will sell me their FIGHT COMICS #5 ...
  16. GREAT book David!! Thats one thats dear to my heart... love that Everett cover! And the Wolverton story in there is one of the best. What a beauty copy! Missed out on B Parker's mid grade copy a while back and i still punish myself for letting that slip away. One day...
  17. This is quite a fab book kelholt! Really fantastic cover!
  18. Steve, have I told you lately how much I covet your PLANET run? That 5, 8 and 10 are Awesome 1 to 10 run.
  19. I KNEW you'd bite at that one Steve! Super-Nice pick up!!
  20. Nice Spoon Ryan Christmas cover there, Bunky! And Fuel, just saw your nice AMF #3 on the last page, great pick up! The Everett story in there is a beaut. Is it me, or is anyone else TOTALLY stalled on their Centaur buying? I'm down to some really tough issues (AMF #4, 2/1, 23), and may be an old man before I see any of those. Drives me crazy.
