  1. Here's a few recent commissions for some board members... you might be able to guess who the PEP and USA covers are for. My first Centaur cover... due to Morey's painterly style and duo one effects, I had to reinterpret some of the details to translate into a painting...
  2. Due to the continuous rising costs/shrinking supply of of pretty much ever GA book I'm after from the 1939/1940 period, I recently started picking up some pre-code books. I'm taking it slow, but hard to resist so many cool books within an affordable price range! Inside the ASTONISHING is a GREAT Everett story... it has a nice three panel wordless sequence, similar to his Venus stories of this period...
  3. moving my PRIZE COMICS #9: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6713022#Post6713022
  4. Hey Stephen, how about posting a nice scan of the TRIUMPH #2? I couldn't find it in your other thread. That cover looks very cool.
  5. Great group shot Stephen! I hope it brings some other books out of the vaults. The more I see of Canadian whites, the more I want to start collecting them. Trying to locate some makes me realize how tough they are!
  6. Andy, those are an incredible find. Just amazing to scoop those all at once.
  7. AMF 2/7 is a fav of mine too... its the last AMF that would feature the pre-Timely Funnies Inc. line up of Everett, Burgos and Gustavson in the same book. I don't have any shots of the "C-20 Mystery" handy, but its a brilliant Everett story. Another great copy!! Let's see what else you can pull out of the vault!
  8. Fantastic Circ. My favorite comic of ALL TIME by a longshot. My holy grail. Stunning copy. And a nice LARGE photo to boot!! Really nice.
  9. Fantastic v2/#3, Circumstance. The early AMFs up to v2/#10 are my favorite comics EVER. The cover art, the Funnies Inc. artist line up, the scarcity... they are so wild. I really need a v1/#4 and a v2/#1 if anyone out there wants to help me out! I am so close to completing my AMF run, and yet, so very, very far.
  10. By far my favorite Arrow cover! Nice copy Circ! Great to see this thread pumping again.
  11. Nice to put a long sought after book in someone's hands! Many boardies have done the same for me.
  12. Alanna, In the past 15 years I 've seen just one other AMF 2/2 in low low grade, but I'm sure other collectors like Circumstances, Adam Strange, Jon Berk, etc have this buried in cold storage. BB I know Jon Verzyl had one up for auction in about 2007 or so, but other than that, I haven't seen one available either. Our own Sacentaur was good enough to sell me his dupe, otherwise I may never have had a chance at one.
  13. +1... although I need someone to explain what tenterhooks are! Circumstances, I sense a certain level of quality on all the books posted thus far. Tough books... high grades... I am hooked back on this Centaur thread!
  14. Mr. Bedrock, thanks for the story. With all the shenanigans and BS in this hobby (as in any hobby where the stakes can be high), it's nice to hear something inspirational and human.
  15. WOW. Killer first book post! Can't wait to see more!
  16. Welcome Circumstances! These boards have been a wonderful source for Centaur info, as well meeting boardies that have hooked me up with some difficult issues. Looking forward to seeing some Centaurs from your collection.
  17. Nice acquisition, Bunky!!! That's a real feather in your Centaur cap.
  18. That is some kind of beautiful! (thumbs u and some kind of rare! Being Sunday and all, is it wrong to covet thy neighbor's AMF #4? Fantastic book BOOT!! So uber-rare it makes my head spin.
  19. Thanks guys! For some reason, the final scan is showing up here somewhat washed out ... tried to upload a better image, but photobucket seems to be on the fritz. I think the ipad photos are a better representation than the scan. Thanks for posting Ben!
  20. October, this is a VERY impressive line up of funny books. Would love to see a large scan of the FANTASTIC #3 (before and after) if you haven't posted it already. Nice work!!
  21. Thanks Vaillant ... its great seeing how foreign countries reinterpreted American comics. I for one enjoy the crudeness and poor quality ... sort of like watching a B-grade monster movie!
