  1. I never cared much for the "funny" Funny Pages covers before, but after seeing them in this thread, I may have to keep my eye out for them... would be nice to get some early Arrows! Maybe in five or ten years I'll track down one of them... Great funny books guys!!
  2. Two words, Mr. H... DAN HASTINGS! The best of the best!!! That five figure Guardineer panel that Scrooge posted is from AMF 2/5 I believe, but I think it appeared in another Centaur earlier than that. Not sure which title.
  3. Scrooge is officially in charge of posting all beheading/decapitation panels! Man, that Dicky strip is WARPED.
  4. Great splash panel Steve! IIRC, there is a page of that story that is nothing but text-less panels... I remember Bob showing that off. I'll see if I can track down my photos of that page. Looking forward to more Guardineer panels...
  5. Please tell me the guy being punched is a zombie.
  6. NICE Scrooge!! That last one is a killer! and OA panels...
  7. One more for today... I picked up a few PIF PAF comics (from Argentina) lately, and two of them had pages from DETECTIVE #29 ... I love this Dr. Death story by Bob Kane... and its cool seeing the art in black and white...
  8. I saw this panel when I was a lad in the 1970's/early 1980's ... it was in a weekend supplement magazine of the Winnipeg Free Press, in an article about golden age comics. It left a big impression on me. No longer own the comic unfortunately. From the Human Top story (D. Briefer), RED RAVEN #1:
  9. I don't recall seeing a thread like this before, but I apologize if its been done. I've posted a few of my favorite Centaur panels lately, and thought it would be fun to see people's favorite panels. Covers get all the attention, but comics are nothing without panels!!! Whether they are iconic, unintentionally funny, well drawn, well colored, first appearance in costume, whatever... let's see them! The bigger the better! And while you're at it, if possible, list the title and issue #. I posted this one a few days ago in a Centaur related thread, and its one of the top panels on my list. Great Gustavson art from Funny Pages #37:
  10. I'm speechless. One of my fav Centaurs, and a 9.0 to boot!! Great PQ!! This is an amazing issue... the Arrow story is really classic. Mad doctor in a castle on mountain top, guarded by a polar bear, experimenting on human guinea pigs! Here's a sampler...
  11. Worth cracking just to read the EYE SEES story.
  12. Super nice KDF's!!! You hardly ever see the #20 without a dirty cover or dust shadows. Really nice.
  13. Absolutely under appreciated. As was Gustavson. Check out this panel by Gustavson from FP 37 ... could be one of my all-time favorite panels!
  14. Great FP Jack!! I'm not much for the "funny" Centaur covers, but I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of those FUNNY PAGES with the early Arrow stories! I had the Arrow story from the issue Comicjack posted handy, here it is below. As Steve says, it does look like Burgos is landing a hand to Gustavson... the work looks so different than Gustavson's art a year later. Great golden age material!! Enjoy!
  15. What a great mid-grade copy Jack!! I have always thought this was the best ARROW (self-titled comic, not incl Funny Pages) cover... a Nazi radio station, complete with der fuehrer's portrait bottom right . 100% Gustavson at his best! I guess "schweigung" means "on the air".
  16. Thanks for the kind words, Red Hood! I appreciate it. PM sent...
  17. I only agreed to do it for Vern because it reminded me so much of Everett's 1950's work... and because Vern sent me a copy of the comic!
  18. Not GA, but some of Everett's finest later work. Not sure if this was on your checklist, Phil.
  19. These were my first comic recreations...
  20. Nice MAN O WAR Jack! How do the interiors rate on those two issues compared to the early AMANs or AMFs?
  21. Thank you Jon! Coming from someone with such high collecting standards, and such a great collection of recreations, that is a real compliment.
